AnkleTap says he knew deep down he'd return to the Gauteng airwaves as he joins Jacaranda FM
Following his departure from YFM in 2023, radio personality DJ Ankletap joined YOU FM which mainly broadcasts in the North West.
'After 12 incredible years at YFM, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and challenge myself in a new environment, which is what led me to the North West and YOU FM,' Ankletap tells The Citizen.

Ankletap's return to Gauteng
After nearly two years of growth and learning at YOU FM, Ankletap – real name Bryce Clark – has joined Jacaranda FM, marking a return to the Gauteng airwaves.
However, he says this wasn't a plan that he'd been mulling over.
'Not exactly planned in the traditional sense, but I always knew deep down that I'd return to the Gauteng airwaves one day – when the right opportunity came along,' the broadcaster shared.
'But when Jacaranda FM called, I knew this was the station that matched my energy, values, and vision for the next level of my career.'
From this Friday, Ankletap will host Party Nights With Ankletap every Friday evening from 7pm to 10pm.
He says listeners should expect a mix of the hottest music, honest talk, stories that will have them in stitches, and a whole lot of energy.
'I'm bringing that signature Ankletap humor, flavour and feel-good Friday magic. It's not just a show – it's the start of your weekend party.'

The difference in audiences
Ankletap boasts more than 15 years in broadcasting and a loyal fanbase across the country; he is a significant fixture in the South African radio scene.
'Every audience has its own rhythm and flavour,' Ankletap says, referring to the disparities in the Gauteng and North West audiences.
'The North West audience is incredibly warm and loyal – they love storytelling, they engage deeply, and they're proud of their identity. Gauteng, on the other hand, is high-paced, fast-moving, and plugged into pop culture 24/7.
'But the beauty of it is I love both. That said, Jacaranda FM broadcasts to Mpumalanga, the North West and Limpopo. I've learned to connect in a way that feels personal, regardless of region.'

Ankletap's passion for great radio
Ankletap says one has to bring their 'A-game every time' because the listeners are diverse, sharp, and always ready to be entertained.
Party Nights With Ankletap is different from the morning breakfast slot he held at YFM and at YOU FM. But he says 'radio is radio' despite the slot one is in.
'I've done everything from graveyard shifts to midday shows to prime-time breakfast, and of course, I've rocked party shows before too. For me, it's not about the time slot – it's about the connection,' the DJ says.
'My passion is making great radio. Each slot has its own energy and challenges, but at the end of the day, my job is to make people feel something. And Friday nights? That's a vibe I live for.'

The United Center in Chicago, home to the Chicago Bulls, is set to witness another iconic sporting moment when Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev meet on Sunday morning. South African UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis is aiming to have his name mentioned among the greats of his sport as he attempts to defend his belt for a third time at the iconic United Center in Chicago on Sunday morning, 17 August 2025, at UFC 319. Du Plessis' task won't be easy as he prepares to do battle against one of the scariest fighters on the UFC roster in Khamzat Chimaev. The South African took a walk through the United Center and described having 'goosebumps' before entering the venue on the latest episode of UFC 319 Embedded. The arena is iconic, as the biggest National Basketball Association stadium in the country with a capacity of more than 20,000. It's home to the Chicago Bulls and has the famous statue of Chicago Bulls basketball legend Michael Jordan's 'flying' jump erected inside the venue. Below the statue, the words: 'The best there ever was. The best there ever will be,' have been etched. The statement is widely believed to be true of Jordan by many basketball fans, while for Du Plessis it's what he's aiming to become in the middleweight division of the UFC. He's tread the path to making the claim of being the best there ever has been superbly so far, by going undefeated in his first nine fights in the division and taking big names out on his way there, including Robert Whittaker, Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland. At this moment, the two fighters contesting for the crown of the greatest UFC middleweight fighter of all time are Adesanya and Anderson Silva. Victory for Du Plessis on Sunday against Chimaev — who many believe is unbeatable, given not only his 8-0 record but also the fashion of his victories — will put him in the mix with those legendary fighters. 'Next best' Du Plessis has made no secret about the fact that Chimaev is one of the best fighters on the UFC roster, despite him only fighting twice in the UFC middleweight division so far, beating Kamaru Usman and former champion Whittaker before earning a title shot. His time before then was spent in the welterweight division. 'I never wanted to be gifted anything, I wanted to fight the best of the best,' Du Plessis said. 'Khamzat, as soon as he made the change to middleweight, I knew that our paths were destined to cross, and that's a fight I want. 'For me it's about the quality of opponents. Who did I beat? Fighting guys that are the best of the best, and Khamzat's that guy.' Chimaev has a reputation for ending fights in the first round, with five of his eight wins coming in the first five minutes. Du Plessis, though, is not planning to wear him out initially, but instead take the fight to him. 'I'm not going out there to survive anything, I'm going out there to hunt,' the South African champion said. 'I'm a hunter, not a survivor. I'm going out there to flourish from the first second to the last. I'm there to win in the most spectacular fashion possible. 'The whole world's excited for this fight because it's truly the two best guys fighting each other. Everybody knows Khamzat is the best 'next guy'. I just know that I am the best.' But how's the burly South African feeling after a 12-week camp in preparation for this bout? 'I'm feeling amazing, I'm feeling unstoppable,' he said. Two stars Chimaev, who moved from his home in Chechnya and became a dual citizen of the United Arab Emirates, compared the summer weather in Chicago to his new home. 'Hot weather, [it] feels like back in Dubai,' he said. For Chimaev, despite his massive reputation and the damage he has done in the octagon, this is also the biggest fight of his career. His thoughts on what many fans believe could be the biggest fight of the year? 'They should expect Khamzat Chimaev in the cage,' he said. It's an unclear answer but it is him acknowledging how his star has risen since entering the UFC octagon for the first time in 2020. Du Plessis' first UFC fight was also just a few months prior to that as the pair were little known at the time. Now their stars are aligning for a clash that's set to be spectacular. LOOK: Public outcry over new Stormers logo
On Wednesday the Stormers updated their socials with what appears to be a new logo, and a new vision. While the Stormers' website revamp is ongoing, the club's latest press release is titled 'In it together: A bold new identity for the DHL Stormers.' A new video promo was uploaded to the Stormers' Facebook and Instagram accounts, aligning with this new tagline and including the new logo. One only had to dip into the comments section however to gauge public sentiment over the new branding. 'Whoever voted for this final design….and signed off on it is laughing in all 11 SA languages,' said one Facebook user. Another wrote 'Someone who passed with 30% must've got a tender to design this logo.' UFC heading to the White House on Independence Day
The White House is to play host to a mixed martial arts event on July 4 next year, the day the United States marks the 250th anniversary of its founding, UFC boss Dana White confirmed. President Donald Trump has been a regular guest at the often-bloody contests, where fighters punch, kick and grapple with their opponent in a no-holds-barred battle to submission or knockout. Bringing the brutal combat sport to the center of US political power will mark a historic first. 'It is definitely going to happen,' White, a high-profile supporter of the US president, told CBS television. 'I talked to him last night – 'him' being the president – and I'm flying out there at the end of this month, and I'm going to sit down and walk him through all the plans and the renderings, and we're going to start deciding what he wants and doesn't want.' Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is the largest and most successful organisation in the burgeoning world of MMA, a blend of martial arts disciplines like jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, boxing and wrestling. Bouts take place in an eight-sided ring – dubbed 'The Octagon' – bounded by a chainlink fence. With few exceptions – like eye-gouging – male and female fighters are allowed to employ almost any technique to attack their opponent. Fights often end with a prone fighter being pummeled in the face as they lie on the bloodied floor, before the referee steps in to stop the action. The shaven-headed White, who has regularly spoken warmly of Trump as both a friend and a political leader, said the president's daughter would be involved in organising the Independence Day spectacle at the White House. 'When (Trump) called me and asked me to do it, he said: 'I want Ivanka in the middle of this,'' White told CBS, whose parent company Paramount has just signed a $7.7 billion streaming deal with UFC. White took over the UFC in 2001 when it was a small, loss-making organization, shepherding it into one of the fastest-growing sports promotion companies in the world. The sport's popularity with young men – a key demographic in the 2024 US election – and Trump's long association with the UFC, have made the president a regular fixture at some of its more high-profile events, where he is greeted like a rock star. Its brutal nature and high injury rate mean the sport is controversial, with doctors decrying the potential for brain damage amongst fighters who are repeatedly hit in the head, though it has gained increasing mainstream acceptance in recent years.
