Kuwait to face searing temperatures up to 51°C this weekend
KUWAIT CITY, June 12: The Meteorological Department has forecast that Kuwait will be impacted by an extension of the Indian monsoon depression, bringing with it a hot and humid air mass accompanied by light to moderate southeasterly winds.
According to Acting Director of the Department Dharar Al-Ali, the depression is expected to gradually deepen starting Friday morning, with winds shifting to a light to moderate northwesterly direction, becoming dry and contributing to extremely hot daytime conditions. He added that the weekend weather will remain very hot during the day, while nighttime conditions will be hot and humid.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Thursday, Al-Ali said that daytime weather on Thursday would be hot and humid, especially in coastal areas, with variable southeasterly winds ranging from 6 to 28 kilometers per hour. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 44°C and 32°C, and sea conditions will be light to moderate, with wave heights between 1 and 3 feet.
Al-Ali further noted that Thursday evening would also remain hot and humid, with southeasterly to variable winds blowing at speeds of 6 to 26 km/h. Minimum temperatures are forecast to range between 30°C and 27°C, and the sea will remain light to moderate with waves between 1 and 3 feet.
On Friday, conditions will intensify, with very hot weather and relative humidity persisting in coastal areas. Winds will gradually shift from variable to northwesterly, maintaining light to moderate speeds of 8 to 28 km/h. Daytime temperatures are expected to peak between 49°C and 47°C, with sea conditions remaining light to moderate and waves ranging from 1 to 3 feet.
By Friday evening, the weather will remain hot to very hot, with variable winds reaching 8 to 30 km/h. Minimum temperatures will hover between 31°C and 28°C, and the sea will maintain a light to moderate state with waves of 1 to 3 feet.
Looking ahead to Saturday, Al-Ali said the country will continue to experience extreme heat. Northwesterly to variable winds will blow at speeds between 8 and 32 km/h. Daytime highs are forecast to reach between 51°C and 49°C, with sea conditions slightly intensifying to wave heights of 1 to 4 feet.
Saturday evening is expected to remain hot, with northwesterly winds varying in strength between 8 and 32 km/h. Minimum temperatures will range between 31°C and 28°C. The sea will be light to moderate, with waves ranging from 1 to 4 feet.
