Acura RSX Prototype Teased Ahead of Its Official Debut Next Week
Acura's second EV is a sharply styled SUV inspired by the Performance EV Concept, and the production model will debut the brand's new in-house platform.
The new Acura RSX is set to arrive at Acura dealers in the second half of 2026.
What does the old two-door Acura RSX hatchback have in common with the forthcoming Acura RSX electric SUV? Besides sharing a legal name and brand tattoos, basically nothing. But that's alright with us because Acura brought back the Integra nameplate and built an authentic Type S model. Now, Acura is resurrecting the familiar RSX label for its second electric model, a follow-up to its initial offering, the ZDX mid-size crossover. Today, we're getting a sneak peek at the RSX prototype's sharp-nosed beak before its official debut during Monterey Car Week.
An Actual Acura EV
Acura co-developed the ZDX with General Motors, making it a rebodied version of the Chevy Blazer EV and Cadillac Lyriq. Meanwhile, the new RSX is purebred Precision Crafted Performance, as it debuts the brand's first-ever EV platform. It will also introduce Acura's ASIMO OS operating system, which showed up on our radar at CES earlier this year when Honda revealed its 0-series prototypes. Long story short, ASIMO assimilates the vehicle's driver-assistance tech with its infotainment system and can be updated over the air.
Acura
While the new teaser photo provides a preview of the RSX prototype's front-end design, Acura previously teased the EV SUV wearing a camouflage wrap (pictured above). That gave us a good look at the RSX's rear-three-quarter profile, with its steeply raked rear roofline giving it a coupe-like shape. A full-width taillight and subtle ducktail spoiler are two interesting visible details.
We can also see that the production-spec RSX won't look as wild as the Performance EV Concept that inspired it. Still, the prototype's face appears assertive, with several angular elements and slit-like daytime running lights that flank an illuminated Acura logo.
While the RSX prototype is making its grand debut next week, the production model will start being built sometime in the second half of next year. Honda's EV Hub in Ohio will be the 2027 Acura RSX's birthplace, where it will come alive alongside the four-door Integra.
