Speaking about his new role, Mohammad Hammoud said: 'I am thrilled to join the NEP team as CCO to continue building on the company's momentum and growth. It's an exciting time for us to expand our reach and to introduce our customers to a full range of customer-driven, innovative solutions, for any size or type of production. I couldn't be happier, and I am eager to begin meeting with colleagues and customers starting next week in Dubai.'
Martin Stewart added: 'I'm very pleased that Mohammad is joining our team at a time of opportunity in the region and for NEP as we continue to expand our service offerings. His market insights and experience in building strategic, high-performing sales teams will be invaluable as we look to grow our footprint and reach in Singapore, India, the Middle East and all of Asia. I'm excited to see Mohammad leading our commercial efforts.'

Imee Marcos says colleagues urge her to run for Senate president, calls for budget, electoral reforms

Reelected Senator Imee Marcos revealed that some of her colleagues in the upcoming 20th Congress have encouraged her to seek the Senate presidency. In a statement, Marcos said she had been approached by fellow senators but did not disclose how she responded. 'Some senators have approached me with the proposal to be their candidate for Senate President,' she said. 'Whoever will be elected by our peers, whether it is me or not, there are certain congressional reforms that need to be undertaken,' she added. Among her top priorities is reforming the budgetary process, especially the practices observed during bicameral conference committee deliberations on the annual national budget. 'The most important is reform in the budgetary process. Tigilan na ang mahiwagang bicam,' she said. 'The right priorities in spending, considering our recurring fiscal deficits and huge indebtedness, must be legislated: food security and support to our farmers and fishermen; education; health and truly necessary social services.' Marcos also took issue with a recent statement by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), which said President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. will sit as an observer during the budget process. 'Parenthetically, once the OP (Office of the President) has submitted the NEP (National Expenditure Program) to Congress, the power of the purse must be respected,' she said. 'The DBM statement that the president will involve himself in the budgetary process after the NEP is submitted is infirm and unconstitutional.' As of posting, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin has yet to respond to requests for comment regarding Senator Marcos' remarks. The senator also highlighted the need for electoral reforms, particularly those involving political parties, which she claimed have become 'mere tools for personal ambition rather than the public interest.' 'Above all, the Senate as the guardian of national interest must always be upheld; its independence non-negotiable,' she stressed. Aside from Marcos, other senators reportedly in the running for Senate President are incumbent Senate President Francis 'Chiz' Escudero and Senator-elect Vicente 'Tito' Sotto III. Senator-elect Erwin Tulfo confirmed that both Escudero and Sotto have approached him for discussions on the Senate leadership. 'Parehas sila inimbitahan ako. They want to sit down with me. Si Sen. Tito Sotto. Ganun din si Sen. Chiz, pero sabi ko sa kanila pareho ay kausapin ko muna 'yung utol ko,' Tulfo said, referring to his brother, incumbent Senator Raffy Tulfo. Tulfo said he has yet to make a commitment to either of the two, though he had a 'long discussion' with his brother about the matter. Erwin Tulfo ran under the Marcos administration's Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas alongside Sotto, while Raffy Tulfo previously worked with Escudero in the 19th Congress. While the Tulfo brothers have consulted each other, Erwin said his vote may still differ from his brother's. 'I need more time to consult because six years or three years… magiging Senate president. Kung mali ang mailuklok namin, yari tayo, walang patutunguhan,' he said. 'Kailangan ang Senate president kaya niyang pagkaisahin ang mga senador. Kailangan maraming batas ang maipasa para sa taumbayan, hindi 'yung pang-sariling interes. Dapat 'yung interes ng Senate president is interest ng pangkalahatan. Hindi lang ng senador, kundi ng taumbayan,' he added. Reelected Senator Bong Go earlier confirmed that both Sotto and Escudero have also reached out to him about the Senate presidency. Last week, reelected Senator Panfilo 'Ping' Lacson said that at least 13 senators in the 20th Congress are leaning toward electing a Senate president who is 'independent, transparent, and competent.

Etihad Rail: UAE resident among first to try passenger train; what to expect from service

Starting next year, UAE residents will be able to traverse the length and breadth of the country on the Etihad Rail. A destination marketer and member of the National Experts' Programme who recently rode the train from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah recounted the trip and shared a video of it. Experiencing the train 'firsthand was an unforgettable milestone' and a 'powerful reminder' of how far the UAE has come in building a 'sustainable, interconnected future', said Sarah Luqman. Sarah was part of a group that travelled from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah to attend the 5th module of the National Experts Programme (NEP). The programme is a launchpad for UAE-based specialists to play a role in the transformation of future-growth sectors and is currently in its fourth cohort. It has been confirmed that the passenger train, once opened to the public, will take 57 minutes to travel between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Going from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah will take around 100 minutes, while travelling from Abu Dhabi To Ruwais will take around 70 minutes. In comments to her video that went viral, Sarah said: "The experience was nothing short of exceptional: seamless comfort, world-class service, and breathtaking views through the heart of the UAE. It was a powerful reminder of how far our nation has come in building a sustainable, interconnected future." Last week, during a meeting between Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, and a delegation from Etihad Rail, it was revealed that the Etihad Rail is set to launch its passenger train service in 2026. Speed screen, comfortable seats A video posted by Sarah gives a better glimpse into what a trip on the train looks like. Light grey comfortable seats are arranged in clusters of four, presumably in the economy compartment, with a table in between. There are luggage racks running above the seats to keep bags on it. An earlier video posted by a content creator had revealed that approximately 400 people will fit into one passenger train — which will have business and economy class compartments. A screen inside the train displays the route of the journey and indicates where the train is. It also shows the exact speed of the train at any given point and has information about the time and outside temperature. Some of the snippets show a part of the train with the Adnoc Oasis branding on top of it. It is not immediately clear whether the trains will have the convenience store serving their signature food and drinks. In January last year, Sultan Al Jaber and ADNOC's leadership team had made the first Etihad Rail passenger journey from Abu Dhabi city to Al Dhannah. There, Sultan reviewed the progress of several key ADNOC projects. Take a look at a video of Sarah's trip on the train: Scenery Giving travellers a glimpse of the beauty of the country including the desert landscape and lush greenery, according to Sarah, the journey provides 'seamless comfort, world-class service, and breathtaking views through the heart of the UAE". Earlier, engineer Kholoud Al Mazrouei had said that the biggest highlight of the train journey would be its scenery. 'You can see different views and landscapes such as the Almaha forests and the natural beauty of Fujairah. You can also see several landmarks in the UAE that you would not be able to if you are travelling by car.' Last month, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in collaboration with Etihad Rail opened a three-lane flyover to improve traffic flow on Al Yalayis Street to ensure the smooth movement of trains by 'completely separating the movement of trains from vehicles".
