Tragic detail emerges in cop's alleged double murder
The tragedy unfolded in February 2024, when Jesse Baird and Luke Davies were allegedly shot dead at Mr Baird's home in Paddington in Sydney's eastern suburbs.
The case quickly became a media sensation, not only due to the high-profile nature of the victims but also because the accused, Beau Lamarre-Condon, was a serving NSW Police officer at the time of the alleged crimes.
Police were alerted to the possibility of foul play after possessions belonging to Jesse and Luke were discovered in a skip bin in Cronulla, prompting a search that led investigators to Baird's blood-stained terrace in Paddington. The discovery sent shockwaves through Sydney's close-knit entertainment and LGBTQ+ communities, where Jesse was well known and highly regarded.
Before his death, Baird, 26, had just accepted a coveted role as a producer on the reality series The Real Housewives of Sydney ahead of its third season and was due to start in March 2024, according to The Daily Mail.
'He had just signed on in January,' said Baird's close friend and former colleague, showbiz reporter Craig Bennett. 'He was ever so excited about it because he loved the show.'
Baird's television career included presenting and reporting roles on Network 10's Studio 10, Totally Wild, and Gamify, as well as work as an AFL goal umpire. 'He'd been let go by Network 10 when Studio 10 was axed in November 2023, but Jesse was great on camera and an accomplished producer,' Bennett explained. 'He was immeasurably excited about this new frontier on Housewives. He never got to see that dream realised. He would have gone a long way in reality television.'
Friends recalled Baird's warmth and professionalism, with Bennett joking that after working with stars like Denise Drysdale, handling the cast of The Real Housewives of Sydney would have been a breeze.
Former NSW Police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon was charged with two counts of murder and one count of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence. Lamarre-Condon was dismissed from the NSW Police Force in March 2024 and has spent more than a year in custody awaiting trial.
Lamarre-Condon became a police officer in 2019 after running a celebrity blog, where he was photographed with numerous high-profile stars such as Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, and Harry Styles.
He is scheduled to make his next court appearance via audiovisual link on June 17.

Police probing burnt-out sports car following dramatic fatal shooting at pub in Forest Lodge in Sydney's inner west
A suspicious sports car fire is at the centre of a police investigation into a fatal shooting outside an inner-west Sydney pub over the weekend, with police probing all possible links to the dramatic incident that left one man dead. Firefighters extinguished the fire on Primrose Avenue, Rydalmere in Sydney's west about 9.50pm on Monday, with police now treating the blaze as suspicious, a NSW Police statement said. The are no reported injuries as a result of the fire. It follows a dramatic public shooting outside a pub in Forest Lodge in the city's inner west on Sunday evening, during which one man died and another was seriously injured. Gilbert Shino, 39, has been named as the man was killed, with his friend Maradona Yalda, 31, identified as the man who survived. Mr Yalda is in a stable condition following two surgeries. The survivor reportedly has links to Assyrian street gang DLASTHR - otherwise known as 'the last hour' - and is known to former Comanchero member Andre Kallita. The two men had been shot multiple times, with police believing the bullets were fired by unknown people who fled the scene in a car. The burnt-out car discovered in Rydalmere is a Ford Mustang that matches the description of a vehicle spotted near Sunday's shooting, The Daily Telegraph has reported. NSW Police have said "any links to recent incidents will be examined" as part of the probe into the car fire. However, no links have been confirmed at this stage, the statement said. Police are urging anyone with relevant information or dashcam footage relating to the blaze to come forward or contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000. A major police probe was launched following the shooting in Forest Lodge, with patrons of The Harold Park Hotel reportedly taking cover under tables for a short time after shots were fired. A crime scene was set up and detectives launched an investigation involving the Homicide Squad. Police are seeking to identify a dark blue Ford Mustang spotted in the vicinity of the pub after the incident. NSW Police confirmed on Tuesday morning that no arrests have yet been made in relation to the shooting and inquiries remain ongoing.

Sydney pub shooting update: Police investigate suspicious vehicle linked to fatal Forest Lodge attack
Police in Sydney's west have found a burnt-out Mustang that matches the description of a vehicle seen near a shooting incident that left one man dead and another seriously injured as they were leaving an Inner West pub. Emergency services were called to Primrose Avenue in Rydalmere shortly before 9.50pm on Monday night following reports of a car on fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, and no injuries have been reported in connection with the fire. Authorities have launched an investigation into the suspicious vehicle fire and are also examining possible links between the burnt Mustang and a shooting that occurred outside The Harold Park Hotel in Forest Lodge on Sunday. 'Any links to recent incidents will be examined as part of the investigation, though none have been confirmed at this stage,' a NSW Police spokesperson said. The shooting outside the pub tragically claimed the life of 39-year-old Gilbert Shino. His companion, 31-year-old Maradona Yalda, was seriously wounded after a gunman opened fire on them as they made their way to their car. Yalda had recently returned to Australia just four days prior to the attack, despite being aware of a contract reportedly placed on his life. He was pursued and shot several times but survived thanks to the prompt assistance of medical students who were inside the hotel. The two men shot were walking to a car about 100m from the hotel when they were attacked. 'As they got closer to the vehicle they appear to have been ambushed,'Detective Superintendent Alf Sergi told 2GB Radio on Monday. 'It was outrageous, a brazen and callous attack.' A bullet narrowly missed a woman working at the hotel. 'It would have been very, very frightening for them.' Medical students and a nurse at the pub helped provide treatment, as well as a doctor who lived nearby, Det Supt Sergi said. The 31-year-old, who survived despite being shot multiple times, is believed to be linked to organised crime. 'We believe it was a targeted attack, based on one of the victim's backgrounds, with possible links to organised criminal networks,' Det Supt Sergi said. 'He was chased by the offender. He was shot a number of times. He slumped at the back of the hotel.' Following two surgeries, Yalda is currently in stable condition. He is known to have close associations with former Comanchero bikie Andre Kallita and is allegedly linked to the Assyrian street gang DLASTHR. Detectives described the shooting as 'brazen and callous,' noting that bullets were fired indiscriminately across the busy street, narrowly missing pub staff and patrons. It is the 13th public shooting - and 4th fatal attack - in Sydney since Christmas. Not all victims have had underworld links - plumber John Versace was executed in his driveway in Condell Park in a case of mistaken identity. As investigations continue, police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage related to the incident to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. - with AAP
