Full support for sole survivor of Jitra tragedy, says Fadhlina
In a Facebook post, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek extended her condolences, describing the tragedy as deeply heartbreaking.
"This evening, the acting director of the Kedah State Education Department, Abdul Rahim Mat, visited young Putri Qisya Nur Izzat and her family at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Alor Setar, Kedah.
"I will ensure that Putri Qisya receives the best support. The Kedah State Education Department will assist in managing all her needs," she said in the post on Monday.
Fadhlina also said she prays that Putri Qisya Nur Izzat, 12, and her family would be granted the strength and patience to face this ordeal.
The victims were husband and wife, Mohamad Azim Izat Ishak, 32, and Nurul Hidayah Khadijah Razman Efendi, 31, along with their children Putra Rayyan Nur Izzat, 9, Hawa Adriana Nur Izzat, 8, Annayla Humaira Nur Izzat, 7, and Tuah Haydar, 6 months. – Bernama

Fake AI video of Malaysian king detected on Facebook
KUALA LUMPUR: The Johor Royal Press Office (RPO) has identified a fake Facebook account using artificial intelligence (AI) to mimic the face and voice of His Majesty Sultan Ismail, the King of Malaysia. The fraudulent video falsely portrays the monarch promoting an investment scheme promising high returns. The RPO issued a warning through Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's official Facebook page, urging the public to remain cautious. 'The public is advised to be vigilant and not be easily influenced by these fake accounts, which are often used by scammers for fraudulent purposes on Facebook and other social media platforms,' the statement read. Authorities emphasized that impersonation and identity misuse are serious legal offenses. 'Strict action will be taken against those involved in accordance with the provisions of the law,' the RPO added. The rise of AI-generated deepfake content has raised concerns globally, with scammers exploiting the technology to deceive unsuspecting victims. Trader loses RM500k in online job scam in Kuala Terengganu
KUALA TERENGGANU:*A trader lost RM500,639.50 after falling victim to an online job scam syndicate that lured him with promises of high commissions for part-time work. Kuala Terengganu police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor said the 38-year-old victim was contacted on May 14 by a Facebook user named Nabila Puteri, who offered him a job through social media. 'To earn the commission, the victim was instructed to buy various items through an app downloaded from a link provided by the suspect. 'He initially received some commission for completed tasks and, tempted by the early profits, made 38 more transactions to 22 different bank accounts,' Azli said in a statement. The victim reportedly used his savings from selling fruits, groceries, and cattle, borrowed money from friends, and even used credit cards to fund the payments. A police report was lodged yesterday, and the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. - Bernama
