Indore: To significantly boost Railways' line capacity and ensure seamless, faster transportation of passengers and goods, including that in Madhya Pradesh, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved two major multi-tracking projects--- Ratlam-Nagda 3rd and 4th line, at a cost of Rs 1,018 crore and Wardha- Balharshah 4th line in Maharashtra.
"The 4-lining of Ratlam-Nagda railway line is part of the PM Gati Shakti Master Plan. The 41-km Ratlam-Nagda section will be 4-lined at a cost of Rs 1,018 crore and the project's completion time is three to four years. Ratlam, as a key junction, connects in four directions: North-Nagda, South-Vadodara, East-Indore, and West-Chittorgarh, while the 4-lining will help connectivity with west coast ports for MP, UP, and Delhi," Ratlam railway divisional PRO Khemraj Meena said.
"These initiatives are set to improve travel convenience, reduce logistics costs, decrease oil imports, and lower carbon dioxide emissions, thereby strengthening sustainable and efficient rail operations. The projects will also boost logistics efficiency by increasing line capacity on crucial routes for transporting containers, coal, cement, agricultural products, and other goods," Meena said.

Bank officer in Kota embezzled Rs 4.6 crore from customers' fixed deposits to invest in stock market, arrested

JAIPUR: In a massive financial fraud case, a female officer at a private bank in Kota has been arrested for misappropriating over Rs 4.58 crore from customer accounts over a span of three years. The accused, Sakshi Gupta, was serving as a relationship manager at ICICI Bank and is alleged to have diverted funds from fixed deposits to invest in the stock market and faced heavy losses. Police officials revealed that between 2020 and 2023, Gupta illegally withdrew money from 110 fixed deposit accounts belonging to 41 customers. She exploited a system loophole known as the "User FD" link to access and siphon off funds without triggering alerts to the account holders. The fraud remained undetected for years and only came to light after a managerial transfer at the branch. When a customer recently visited the bank to redeem a matured fixed deposit, discrepancies in the account triggered an internal inquiry. Investigating Officer Ibrahim Khan said Gupta rerouted OTPs (One-Time Passwords) from customers' accounts to her own system by linking phone numbers of her relatives. This allowed her to carry out high-value transactions without the account holders being notified. "She developed a system that intercepted OTPs, ensuring customers remained unaware of the unauthorized withdrawals. We're investigating who else may have been involved — inside or outside the bank," Khan said.

"India following zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism": Rajnath Singh highlights Op Sindoor, calls for global unity

New Delhi [India], June 7 (ANI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday asserted that India has demonstrated a successful strategy to defeat terrorism, laying out five key positions on how the global community can uproot such activities, and assured retaliation against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism while showing zero tolerance against this menace. In an article titled 'We've shown how to defeat terror,' published in an English Daily, Singh reflects on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and India's subsequent response through Operation Sindoor, emphasising the nation's resolve under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 'Under the leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modi, India is following a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. Fighting against terror is not optional but it's our collective duty. It's high time the global community unites to uproot this menace from its roots. Read my article... where I reflect on India's fight against terror and the path forward for the world,' the Defence Minister stated in a post on X. In another post, he further added that terrorism was a whip to humanity, referencing another article published in another Hindi Daily, noting the need for global unity and measures to take effective action against terrorism. 'Terrorism is a scourge on humanity. India's stand under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very clear, and that is of zero tolerance. In my article... I have stressed the need for global unity against terrorism and discussed the measures available to the global community to take effective action against terrorism,' Singh stated in another post on X. In the early hours of May 7, Indian Armed Forces successfully hit nine terror camps using special precision munitions in a coordinated operation called Operation Sindoor, destroying four camps in Pakistan, including Bahawalpur and Muridke, and five in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The strikes on all nine targets were successful, which targeted top Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leaders involved in sponsoring terrorist activities in India. Following the attack, intense clashes took place between India and Pakistan, with Pakistan's attempted drone attacks on Indian cities along the International Border and Line of Control (LoC) and shelling along the LoC. India also retaliated with targeted strikes on Pakistani military installations, causing significant damage. After which, a cessation of hostilities between the two nations was agreed on May 10.
