"India following zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism": Rajnath Singh highlights Op Sindoor, calls for global unity
New Delhi [India], June 7 (ANI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday asserted that India has demonstrated a successful strategy to defeat terrorism, laying out five key positions on how the global community can uproot such activities, and assured retaliation against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism while showing zero tolerance against this menace.
In an article titled 'We've shown how to defeat terror,' published in an English Daily, Singh reflects on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and India's subsequent response through Operation Sindoor, emphasising the nation's resolve under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
'Under the leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modi, India is following a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. Fighting against terror is not optional but it's our collective duty. It's high time the global community unites to uproot this menace from its roots. In another post, he further added that terrorism was a whip to humanity, referencing another article published in another Hindi Daily, noting the need for global unity and measures to take effective action against terrorism.

In the early hours of May 7, Indian Armed Forces successfully hit nine terror camps using special precision munitions in a coordinated operation called Operation Sindoor, destroying four camps in Pakistan, including Bahawalpur and Muridke, and five in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
The strikes on all nine targets were successful, which targeted top Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leaders involved in sponsoring terrorist activities in India.
Following the attack, intense clashes took place between India and Pakistan, with Pakistan's attempted drone attacks on Indian cities along the International Border and Line of Control (LoC) and shelling along the LoC.
India also retaliated with targeted strikes on Pakistani military installations, causing significant damage. After which, a cessation of hostilities between the two nations was agreed on May 10. (ANI)

The Indian cinema stalwart, hugely popular in the south as well as in the north with films such as Nayakan, Thevar Magan, Sadma, Saagar and Chachi 420 that bridged language divides, said if you are truly looking at 'international breakthrough' you must learn one language. He said, 'And English seems to be fair enough. You can do Spanish also, or Chinese. But I think the most practical thing where the shortest route to that is that we have 350 years of English education, slowly but steadily. So when you suddenly replace it, it's all over again. Soldiers injured in Operation Sindoor again ready to give befitting reply to Pakistan: BSF DIG
Asserting that soldiers injured in the attack carried out by Pakistan in response to Operation Sindoor have returned from hospital with high morale, a senior BSF officer on Saturday (June 7, 2025) said they are once again ready to give Pakistan a befitting reply in case of any misadventure. He said the Border Security Force (BSF) is guarding the borders excellently, and no one needs to worry as long as the Force is standing on the borders. "It has been over one month since Operation Sindoor. The personnel from our forces who were injured have now returned from the hospital. The morale of the Border Security Force is extremely high," BSF DIG Prabhakar Joshi told reporters in Jammu. He said the soldiers who were injured have returned from the hospital and are once again ready to take revenge against Pakistan. "This time, they are prepared with double the strength compared to before to confront any fresh misadventure from Pakistan and to give a fitting reply, one that will make them remember it painfully for generations to come." He praised the jawans and said these are the brave BSF jawans who gave a fierce reply to Pakistan's shelling during Operation Sindoor from May 7–10. "They are ready for duty again. Our reply was so strong, Pakistan's future generations will remember it. India speaks less, strikes hard," he said. The DIG said the BSF has responded on the border with full strength. "Not a single BSF post has been withdrawn and even those beyond the fence are holding their ground firmly," he said. On the security front, he said patrolling on the border is being carried out with utmost vigilance and the safety of the posts is being ensured. "The Border Security Force is guarding the borders excellently and as long as the BSF is standing on the borders, no one needs to worry," he added. The DIG said the nation has full faith that her brave security forces will respond effectively, giving Pakistan such a lesson that it will never forget in its lifetime. "If Pakistan dares to repeat its misadventures, our forces are fully prepared to give a crushing reply once again," he added. The injured officers, four of them, have returned to their duties and expressed high morale to serve at their posts. Sub-Inspector of BSF Vyas Dev, whose one leg suffered a major battle injury during Operation Sindoor, said he has suffered a major disability but has not lost his spirit. "Even today, we stand ready to return to the border and give a befitting reply to Pakistan," he said. Sub-Inspector Dev, who lost two colleagues during a bomb shell attack on his post, said this is the courage that defines the country's security forces. "We are proud of it. We are ready to give a befitting reply. "I am ready to give a befitting reply to Pakistan if it dares to mess with us. It was an opportunity for me to take part in Operation Sindoor," he said. Similarly, another jawan, Constable Bhupendra Vajpayee of BSF from Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, has joined duty again after recovering from his battle injury. 'On May 9, during Operation Sindoor, Pakistan fired heavily on our BOP. We responded with full force.' "Despite injuries from a drone attack, I am back and ready for duty. This time, we will not only stop them but also hoist the Tricolour on their soil," he said.

Yunus acted without consulting parties: Ex-Indian envoy on Bangladesh polls
Former High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Veena Sikri said that the announcement of elections in the first half of April, next year by Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser to the interim government of Bangladesh is "controversial" and said the decision was taken without consulting the parties. Sikri told ANI a day earlier, "I think this announcement is controversial due to some reasons -- some political parties have opposed it, even BMP themselves wanted it earlier by December. He has taken this decision without consulting the parties. He has talked about reforms, but he is not a constitutional government, so there is no reason for such a government to do reforms" The former envoy said the neighbouring country must have early elections and that the Bangladesh Army has yet to react to the announcement. "They must have early elections, and then the elected government will look at what reforms they want. The Army has not said anything so far about the decision. The most important thing is how the elections will be conducted, as he cannot head the caretaker govt because in his govt there are political party representatives, including representatives of Islami Andolan Bangladesh." On June 6, the Bangladesh interim government announced that the national election would be held in the first half of April 2026. "I am announcing to the countrymen today that the next national elections will be held sometime in the first half of April 2026. Based on this announcement, the Election Commission will provide you with a detailed roadmap for the elections in due course", said Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser to the interim government of Bangladesh, in an address to the nation through state television, BTV, on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha. The announcement of the national election is a major development for Bangladesh politics after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government in August 2024.
