Jaydon Blue's ankle injury has his availability for Saturday in question
Cowboys running back Jaydon Blue was injured during Thursday's practice. Blue spun to the ground awkwardly after defensive end Sam Williams grabbed Blue's facemask. He remained on the ground before taking a cart to the injury tent and later was escorted to the training room. Blue returned to the practice field in street clothes. He told Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that he injured his ankle. Although Blue insisted he is fine, his availability for the preseason opener on Saturday against the Rams now is in question. Blue, a fifth-round pick, is a favorite to land a feature role on the offense after debunking questions about his work habits. Veterans Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders also are expected to be big contributors in the backfield. Tight end Jake Ferguson also left practice early after taking a shot in the back from linebacker Kenneth Murray.

Anthony Richardson vs. Daniel Jones stats: Live updates from preseason Week 1
Anthony Richardson opened the 2024 NFL season as the Indianapolis Colts' starting quarterback. He is hoping to do that again in 2025 but will need to stave off competition from Daniel Jones to make that happen. The Colts signed Jones to a one-year, $14 million deal during the 2025 offseason, and the organization has been steadfast about the former New York Giants first-round pick having a chance to earn the starting job. Thus far, a favorite has yet to emerge in the competition. Coach Shane Steichen praised both Richardson and Jones for "doing a really good job" during training camp. "Both of them have made plays at a high level the last couple days, and that's what you want to see," Steichen told reporters ahead of preseason Week 1. "You want to see growth, you want to see completions, you want to see the offense moving up and down the field." Now, the two quarterbacks will go head-to-head in preseason action, with Richardson getting a first crack at proving himself as a starter against the Baltimore Ravens. Versant Communications Team Adds Erin Calhoun As SVP, Steve Arocho As VP
Former top Paramount TV communications executive Erin Calhoun has joined Versant, the spun-off company housing most of NBCUniversal's cable networks, as SVP of Entertainment, Sports Communications. Additionally, Steve Arocho has been hired as VP of Corporate Communications, rounding out the team led by Versant Chief Communications Officer Keith Cocozza. Based in Los Angeles, Calhoun will oversee communications and manage day-to-day press activities for Versant's portfolio of sports and entertainment brands, including USA Network, Oxygen, E!, SyFy, Golf Channel, GolfNow, Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes and Sports Engine.
