Actor Anupam Kher, who will soon be seen in 'Metro... In Dino', recently opened up about a past disagreement with Aamir Khan during the making of 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin'. He shared an incident from the film's climax that caused a rift between the two actors.Speaking to Times Now, Anupam recalled, 'In the climax of 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin', the father tells his daughter to run away from the wedding. The moment was very exaggerated. I was fully ready to portray it, but Aamir Khan complained to Mukesh Bhatt sahab about my interpretations. He found it wrong and different. Bhatt sahab added fuel to the matter and told me about Aamir's comment."advertisementHe further shared how he responded to the criticism, saying, 'I am the gold medallist from the National School of Drama. I used an English phrase for Aamir Khan to shut him down. Aamir was upset with me throughout the film. He was at that stage of becoming Aamir Khan, which he wanted to become. All my love for him. I think Hindi film actors are much greater actors than people from the West because we do the most unconvincing things convincingly and convince 1.4 billion people.'
'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin', released in 1991, starred Aamir Khan and Pooja Bhatt in lead roles, marking Pooja's first major appearance on the big screen. Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, the film was a remake of the 1934 Hollywood classic 'It Happened One Night' and became a box office success. Anupam Kher, Sameer Chitre, Tiku Talsania, and Deepak Tijori also played key roles in the romantic drama.Anupam's upcoming film, 'Metro In Dino', directed by Anurag Basu, is a sequel to 'Life in a Metro'. The ensemble cast includes Neena Gupta, Ali Fazal, Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Pankaj Tripathi. With music composed by Pritam, the film is set to release in theatres on 4 July 2025.- EndsMust Watch

‘Thugs of Hindustan': Lalit Modi, Vijay Mallya sing Sinatra's ‘I did it my way' at lavish London bash; video goes viral

At a glittering London soirée hosted by Lalit Modi, a moment straight out of a movie unfolded: the former IPL commissioner and controversial tycoon Vijay Mallya belted out Frank Sinatra's iconic I Did It My Way to a cheering crowd. The clip, posted by Modi on Instagram, quickly caught fire online – drawing both laughs and raised eyebrows, given the legal baggage both men carry. The bash was anything but low-key. With over 310 guests flown in from across the globe, it was a full-blown spectacle of glitz and nostalgia. Among the familiar faces was former RCB star Chris Gayle, who posted a story with the duo, writing, 'We living it up. Thanks for a lovely evening,' and tagging both hosts. 'Had an amazing night with 310 friends and family… Thank you to one and all who attended this evening and made it one of the most special nights for me,' Modi wrote in the caption, cheekily adding, 'Hope this video doesn't break the Internet. Controversial for sure. But that's what I do best.' A post shared by Lalit Modi (@lalitkmodi) The Internet certainly paid attention. While some viewers said, calling them 'Desi Boys. English Style,' others went a step further with comments like 'Thugs of Hindustan.' One person said, 'Wow that seems like a whole lot of fun.' Lalit Modi, once hailed as the mastermind behind the IPL's global success, has remained in the UK since 2010 after facing suspension from the BCCI. The charges against him include alleged financial irregularities, bid manipulation, and money laundering, involving massive sums under scrutiny by Indian authorities. Vijay Mallya, once dubbed the 'King of Good Times,' left India in 2016 amidst mounting allegations of financial fraud tied to his now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines. Declared a 'fugitive economic offender' by Indian courts, Mallya's legal troubles in the UK continue. Just last week, his appeal against a bankruptcy ruling was thrown out by the British High Court. He's previously claimed that Indian authorities have already recovered assets worth over Rs 14,000 crore, more than what he allegedly owes.

Maa Week 1 Report Card: Kajol's Film Struggles At Box Office, Mints Rs 25 Crore

Last Updated: While Kajol's film isn't earning well at the box office, the horror and mythology mix has won the audience's hearts. The mythological horror film Maa, starring Kajol, was released in theatres with high expectations. The film had a slow start on its opening day on June 27, receiving a mixed response from both critics and audiences. The film did pick up a little pace over the weekend; however, it is struggling to climb uphill at the box office. On its seventh day, Maa has collected Rs 1.65 crore Nett in India, marking its lowest single-day collection so far. With this, the film's total 7-day collection comes to Rs 26.65 crore, according to early estimates by Sacnilk. The Kajol-starrer has seen a significant drop in the numbers. It opened on a modest note with Rs 4.65 crore on its first day. Following this, it added Rs 6 crore on Saturday and Rs 7 crore on Sunday. The next three days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday saw a decrease, with Rs 2.5 crore, Rs 3 crore and Rs 1.85 crore, respectively. Adding day 7's number, the total box office collection is now expected to inch closer to the Rs 30 crore mark. While the film isn't earning well at the box office, the horror and mythology mix has won the audience's hearts. The average Hindi occupancy rate was recorded as 9.33 per cent on Thursday, July 3. The morning shows occupancy stood at 5.45 per cent, the afternoon shows picked up to 10.16 per cent and the evening shows were at 9.98 per cent. The night shows performed the best, with 11.72 per cent. Directed by Vishal Furia, Maa is bankrolled by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande under the banners of Devgn Films and Jio Studios. The mythological horror film boasts an ensemble cast of talented actors, including Kajol, Indraneil Sengupta, Ronit Roy and Kherin Sharma. Adding to the dramatic clash, the film also features Gopal Singh, Yaaneea Bharadwaj, Jitin Gulati, Surjyasikha Das and Roopkatha Chakraborty. In the film, Kajol steps into the fierce role of a fearless mother who battles supernatural troubles. The film blends myth and mystery, relying on the mother-daughter equation as Kajol tries to protect her daughter from an evil entity. Meanwhile, Maa has faced stiff competition at the box office from Aamir Khan and Genelia D'Souza's Sitaare Zameen Par and Vishnu Manchu's star-studded film Kannappa. While RS Prasanna's emotional drama Sitaare Zameen Par is unshakeable at the box office and continues its dream run at the box office, Kannappa has surpassed Kajol's movie and has crossed the Rs 30 crore mark. As of now, Kajol's film stands at Rs 26.65 crore, while Kannappa has pulled ahead with Rs 30.10 crore over the same week. Beating both the films behind, Aamir Khan's emotional drama has minted Rs 135.65 crore at the box office. First Published:
