Selena Gomez reveals unlikely childhood crush - and it wasn't a pop star

Express Tribune11 hours ago

Selena Gomez recently took a nostalgic trip down memory lane during her appearance on GOAT Talk, a YouTube series by Complex, where she was joined by fellow singer Karol G. While discussing their all-time favorites, the Only Murders in the Building star shared a surprising revelation - her first-ever celebrity crush was none other than rapper and actor Ice Cube.
'When I was about five, I had the biggest crush on Ice Cube,' Selena admitted, laughing. 'It's so random, but I always felt like he could protect me. That was enough for my childhood self.' She didn't clarify whether her admiration stemmed from his music or his film roles, like in Barbershop or Are We There Yet?, but it's clear the West Coast icon left a lasting impression.
Gomez, also opened up about another artist who played a major role in her early music memories: Eminem. 'My dad was a DJ and constantly made remixes - especially with Eminem. I'd get so excited every time he played one,' she said.
Karol G, in turn, named Eminem as her GOAT rapper while growing up, and chose Nicki Minaj for today's generation.
Outside of her nostalgic confessions, Gomez briefly touched on her current relationship with producer Benny Blanco. The couple recently released a 26-track collaborative album I Said I Love You First… And You Said It Back, featuring artists like GloRilla, J Balvin, Gracie Abrams, and The Marías.

Liver King mugshot released after arrest for terroristic threat against Joe Rogan

Brian Johnson, better known online as the 'Liver King,' was arrested in Austin, Texas, earlier this week for allegedly making a terroristic threat against podcast host Joe Rogan. The 47-year-old YouTuber was reportedly found near Rogan's property, armed with what appeared to be two gold-plated firearms, and referencing a desire to "pick a fight," according to footage he posted on social media. Rogan, who has previously mentioned Johnson on The Joe Rogan Experience but never hosted him as a guest, has not responded publicly to the incident. -Austin Police Department Johnson appeared disheveled and weary in a newly released mugshot—an image starkly contrasting his former presentation as the buff 'CEO of ancestral living.' He stares blankly into the camera, his eyes heavy and his expression devoid of the confidence he once projected online. Since stepping back from YouTube—where he hasn't posted in eight months—Johnson has remained active on Instagram, where he shares increasingly erratic videos. In one recent post, he vaguely referenced his arrest while promoting Blue Scorpion Venom, a product marketed for pain relief. The substance has not been scientifically proven to treat cancer, according to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Johnson continues to allude to a personal conflict with Rogan, referring to the podcaster only as 'some guy' while specifically naming Rogan's comedy venue, The Mothership. He claimed in one post that the 'threat' was actually a misunderstood gesture involving a gift. 'No laws will be broken,' he added, suggesting a desire for a physical confrontation with Rogan remains unresolved. Johnson previously admitted in 2022 to using anabolic steroids, reportedly spending over $11,000 per month to maintain his physique. Concerned fans have urged him to seek help and avoid further public outbursts that could damage his reputation and family legacy. The case remains under investigation by Austin authorities.

SaveAFox founder Mikayla Raines' husband keeps her promise after tragic death

Ethan Frankamp, husband of the late Mikayla Raines, founder of the widely-followed SaveAFox Rescue, has shared a touching moment as he honours her memory in the way she would've wanted most. In a recent Instagram Story shared through the SaveAFox account, Frankamp posted a video of himself walking one of Raines' most beloved rescues, a fox named Finnegan. In the video, Frankamp reflects on how no matter the weather or workload, Mikayla never skipped Finnegan's walk. 'Even after a long, exhausting day, she made sure he got his time outside,' he says softly in the background. 'I didn't really feel up to it today, but I knew I couldn't let him down. I hope she's watching and that she's proud.' Raines, who built a massive online following for her work rehabilitating foxes through her Minnesota-based nonprofit, passed away recently. Frankamp confirmed her death in an emotional YouTube video on June 23, explaining that his wife had died by suicide. He revealed that Mikayla had long struggled with online harassment, which intensified in recent months. According to Frankamp, she was deeply affected by targeted negativity and personal attacks from people within and outside the animal rescue community. 'She took it to heart,' he said, explaining that the criticism, combined with her mental health challenges, including autism, depression, and borderline personality disorder became too much for her to bear. 'She felt like the world had turned against her,' he shared. The couple share a young daughter, Freya. Though devastated, Frankamp is doing what he can to carry on Mikayla's legacy and honour her after her passing.
