Dua Lipa's Chanel Look for the 2025 Met Gala Is Adorned With Feathers, Crystals… And Callum Turner
Dua Lipa has delivered some memorable Met Gala moments over the years: there was the purple psychedelic dress by Atelier Versace that she wore to the 2019 Camp-themed edition; the archival Chanel haute couture gown from autumn/winter 1992, originally worn by Claudia Schiffer down the runway, which she chose to honor Karl Lagerfeld in 2023; and the boudoir-inspired Marc Jacobs number that she sported for the Sleeping Beauties theme in 2024.

This year, the singer turned to Chanel once again for her 2025 Met Gala look. In keeping with the 'Tailored for You' dress code, Lipa wore a custom open-back chiffon dress with a long bow at the back, a black sequin tweed jacket and an organza cape–all adorned with crystals, pearls and feathers to add to the sense of drama. In total, the complete look took 2,000 hours to make and features 45,000 embroidered elements, highlighting the remarkable level of craftsmanship on display.
Of course, Lipa's relationship with the French fashion house goes way back: the star previously revealed how she splurged on the Chanel Boy bag after she got her first pay check from her record label more than a decade ago in 2014. Since then, she's worn Chanel on countless occasions–including during her Radical Optimism tour, where she wore a bodysuit version of the chained dress originally seen on Christy Turlington on the maison's spring/summer 1992 catwalk (Lily-Rose Depp later went on to wear the gown at the 2019 Met Gala)–and was announced as a face of the Chanel 25 bag earlier this year.
Lipa hasn't been exclusively wearing Chanel for Met Gala weekend, though, with the star also photographed in US brands Willy Chavarria and Calvin Klein while in the Big Apple. Could we see her championing another New York designer for the Met Gala after-parties? Watch this space.

San Francisco croissant contest crowns a surprising new champion
A surprise newcomer, Maison Benoit, claimed top honors at the 2025 Best Croissant San Francisco competition on Sunday, edging out 349 contenders and clinching the Grand Prize in a tightly judged field of buttery, flaky rivals. The annual event, hosted at the Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel and organized by French Morning, Frenchly and French-American Hospitality & Gastronomy Association, drew hundreds of pastry lovers and a waitlist over a thousand names long. Notably absent from the finalists this year was Arsicault, among the bakeries often credited with putting San Francisco on the national croissant map and whose croissant Chronicle critic Cesar Hernandez named No. 1 last year. The 10 finalists considered at the event were chosen through public voting, with fans nominating their favorite bakeries in an open call leading up to the competition. The judging panel included Jean-François Houdré of the Westin St. Francis, Philippe Gardelle of Chapeau, Shaunda O'Day of Noe Valley Bakery, Céline Plano of Aura in Napa, and Pierre Bee of FAHGA. Benoît Vialle, who left a career at Microsoft and later the wine industry to pursue baking, opened Maison Benoit in Danville just last year. 'For me it highlights our relentless focus on producing the best possible quality authentic French products, and croissants in particular, at a price that everyone can enjoy every day at $3.75,' Vialle told the Chronicle on Tuesday. His pastry chef Lucile Espeillac, formerly of Paris' La Tour d'Argent, was equally pleased with the outcome. 'We've worked so hard since we opened that this prize is really a great reward,' she told organizers. Among the 10 finalists were standout bakeries from across the Bay Area, including Backhaus, Maison Nico, Le Carousel Patisserie, the Midwife and the Baker and East Bay Bakery, each showcasing inventive flavors and classic techniques in pursuit of the top prize. The Midwife and the Baker, based in Mountain View, took home the People's Choice Award. 'I am very proud of the products that we have presented today: we utilize pre-fermentation techniques that give depth to the flavor of our croissants,' founder Mac McConnell told Frenchly. In the 'Best Original Creation' category, the win went to Le Carousel Patisserie for a mango and rum-flambéed pineapple flower pastry. 'We wanted to offer a viennoiserie that was both classic and original,' said Jérémie Mullet, founder of the popup bakery. Despite stiff competition and experimental entries, it was Maison Benoit's traditional craftsmanship that captured the top prize. Princess Nails Are Set To Be The Chic, Low-Effort Manicure Of The Summer
Of all the nail trends to emerge in 2025, there's no doubt that minimalist manicures are reigning supreme. With soap nails, vanilla French tips and angel chrome finishes showing no sign of dwindling in popularity, you'd be forgiven for thinking that there's simply no room for another pared-back manicure to capture our attention. Yet that's exactly what this latest viral trend is: Introducing princess nails. 'Every few months we see the sheer, neutral manicure reinvented, and princess nails are a subtle variation on this classic style,' explains international manicurist Georgia Rae. The thing that sets them apart from other manicures? Princess nails might look simple, but every detail has been perfectly executed so that they ooze luxury. 'The look is inspired by royalty who are known for maintaining a very natural, but always perfectly-groomed manicure,' explains Rae. Ahead, we explore what makes the perfect princess manicure and why this nail look will be holding court for summer 2025. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Julia Diogo (@paintedbyjools) What are princess nails? The appeal of princess nails lies in their simplicity. The look is so pared back it's even being dubbed 'recession indicator' nails on social media — a nod to the theory that people often swap extravagant beauty habits for simpler ones when the economy is about to take a nosedive. While the trend is certainly minimalist, it remains an enchanting look thanks to the level of prep and polish: 'The princess nail trend is all about shorter length nails in sheer, natural pinks, which echo the preference of the Royal family's beauty protocol of well-maintained and manicured natural nails,' explains session manicurist Ami Streets. Every nail expert I spoke to said that princess nails look great on shorter lengths, with a soft square or slightly rounded shape preferred. But when it comes to manicures, there are no rules; opt for whichever length you're comfortable with. Unless you're a pro at doing your own nails, then no doubt getting your princess nails done in a salon will give you the best results, as the key lies in the prep. 'Find a manicurist who is meticulous with their preparation and polish application,' says Rae, especially intricate cuticle work, which requires a specific level of skill. She even goes as far as to say that establishing a hand and nail care routine before you get your princess manicure will give you the best results: 'At the very least, moisturise your hands and apply a cuticle oil regularly as the final step in your evening routine,' she advises. If you are doing your own nails at home, then the right tools, like a proper cuticle stick and clippers, can make all the difference. Navy's Basic Nail Kit, £155, is expert-approved and a worthy investment if you like that polished aesthetic. 'Since the nails are kept short and the polish is so delicate, any imperfections or roughness might be noticeable,' explains Streets. Focus on pushing back cuticles, buffing the surface of the nail, and filing into shape for a perfect finish. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Megan Rose (@ As for the colour? 'I would opt for a sheer beige or pink tint that blurs any imperfections and complements your skin tone,' says Rae. Alternatively, if you don't like such a natural look, then princess nails will also work with a milkier colour followed by a glossy top coat. In the salon, our experts rate BioSculpture in shade Luka or The GelBottle BIAB in Ballet as two beautiful sheer pink shades. If you're recreating princess nails at home, then Essie Gel Couture in Fairy Tailor, £10.99, OPI Put It In Neutral, £18, and Chanel La Base Camélia, £30, all come highly recommended.
