Rain forecast forces BRS to postpone public meeting
The party leadership has chosen Karimnagar for its 'BC Kadhana Bheri' to galvanise Backward Class (BC) communities to mount pressure on the government to implement the 42 per cent reservations for BCs. The new date of the public meeting will be decided by the BRS leadership in due course, the party leaders said. It was originally scheduled for August 8 in Karimnagar. Inclement weather forced the organisers to postpone the meeting to August 14.
The meeting has been postponed twice within a week. Meanwhile, BRS Supremo K Chandrashekhar Rao held an emergency meeting with senior party leaders KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao and others and reviewed political developments in the state.

Addressing water rights on the Krishna and Godavari rivers, the CM said his govt was working on a strategic plan to secure permanent rights and rectify "losses caused by the negligence of past rulers." Despite this burden, he said, "We are moving forward with the inspiration of the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi and the builder of a new India, Jawaharlal Nehru, and the support of the people. Harish criticises Cong govt for increasing taxes & burdening people
Hyderabad: Former minister T accused the Congress govt of burdening the public by increasing taxes, contrasting it with the previous BRS administration which, he claimed, had reduced the tax load. He pointed out that the Transport Department alone had imposed an additional 2,000 crore burden on citizens by hiking service tax, vehicle service tax, road tax, and motor vehicle tax. "The recent hike in life tax on vehicles by the Congress govt is nothing short of a ruthless blow to poor and middle-class families in . Without any justification, the govt issued GOs 53 and 54, increasing life tax on new vehicles and placing further financial strain on the poor and middle class," said Harish. The BRS leader noted that, in today's economy, even a two-wheeler costs over 1 lakh. Farmers, small traders, and daily wage workers depend on such vehicles for their livelihood. Raising the life tax from 12% to 15% on two-wheelers priced above 1 lakh amounts to extortion, he alleged. He further criticised the govt's plan to increase market values for property registration and its proposal to open more liquor shops in every mandal.

Revanth briefs guv on BC ordinance & polls
1 2 Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy reportedly briefed governor Jishnu Dev Varma on the pending Backward Classes (BC) reservations ordinance, as well as key issues such as local body elections and the upcoming monsoon session of the assembly, during a meeting at Raj Bhavan on Friday. The CM attended the 'At Home' programme hosted by the governor, accompanied by deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other cabinet colleagues. The state govt had earlier passed the BC Bill in the assembly and subsequently sent a proposal recommending 42% reservations for BCs to Centre, which is pending. While the governor has yet to take a decision on the ordinance, the Bill has been forwarded to President for approval. During the interaction, the CM is said to have apprised the governor of the impending local body elections, which are likely to be held next month following a Telangana high court directive setting a deadline of September 30. The govt is also planning to convene the monsoon session of the assembly in the third or fourth week of August. Ahead of the meeting, the CM introduced all his ministerial colleagues to the governor. He also congratulated BJP leader and newly appointed state president N Ramchander Rao, and held informal discussions with BJP MPs Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, K. Laxman, and others. Meanwhile, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chose to stay away from the event.
