Max Verstappen won the 2025 Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, marking Red Bull Racing's 400th Grand Prix start with a victory. Oscar Piastri leads the drivers' standings with 146 points.
Max Verstappen delivered a commanding performance to secure his second victory of the 2025 Formula 1 season at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, marking Red Bull Racing's 400th Grand Prix start with a win.
Starting from second on the grid, Verstappen executed a decisive move on polesitter Oscar Piastri through the opening turns, seizing the lead on the opening lap and never looking back.
The race unfolded with strategic complexity, featuring both Virtual Safety Car (VSC) and full Safety Car periods. Piastri, along with several drivers, opted for an early pit stop on Lap 14, switching to hard tyres. However, this strategy did not yield the desired advantage, as Verstappen extended his stint on medium tyres. The VSC on Lap 29, triggered by Esteban Ocon's retirement, allowed Verstappen to pit with minimal time loss, rejoining the track with a substantial lead.
A full Safety Car was deployed on Lap 46 due to Kimi Antonelli's Mercedes stopping on track. This prompted another round of pit stops, with both Verstappen and Lando Norris pitting for fresh tyres, while Piastri stayed out. Upon the restart, Verstappen maintained his lead, while Norris overtook his McLaren teammate Piastri to claim second place. Piastri managed to fend off a charging Lewis Hamilton, who recovered from 12th on the grid to finish fourth for Ferrari.

Alexander Albon showcased impressive form for Williams, securing fifth place after a spirited battle with Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, who finished sixth. George Russell was the sole Mercedes finisher in seventh, following Antonelli's retirement. Carlos Sainz added points for Williams with an eighth-place finish.
Rookie Isack Hadjar continued to impress, bringing his Racing Bulls car home in ninth. Yuki Tsunoda, despite starting from the pit
Fernando Alonso narrowly missed out on points, finishing 11th, while Nico Hülkenberg took 12th. Pierre Gasly, Liam Lawson, and Lance Stroll completed the top 15. Franco Colapinto, Ollie Bearman, and Gabriel Bortoleto rounded out the classified finishers. Esteban Ocon and Kimi Antonelli were the only retirees of the race.
This victory marked Verstappen's fourth consecutive win at Imola, underscoring his dominance at the circuit. In the drivers' standings, Oscar Piastri leads with 146 points, followed by Lando Norris with 133 and Verstappen with 124.

RCB had to wait 18 years to win maiden IPL title, but 3 more teams have endured longer waits and bigger heartbreaks

The two finalists in this year's Indian Premier League had both waited 18 years for their maiden IPL title. But compared to the Punjab Kings, it always felt like a first title would mean more to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. For their entire title-less run, the team had crafted some of the most sparkling batting performances in the IPL. They have a fanbase that is expressive and loyal. All that gave RCB's wait its own story and spirit. Across sports, and time, there have been similar waits. Before this year, RCB's record in the previous 17 seasons of the IPL read 7 semi-final/playoff appearances and three finals. Their home ground, the Chinnaswamy Stadium, was made for batting, with flat pitches and smaller boundaries. For the most part, RCB spent a disproportionate share of its budget on high-profile batters, notably Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle. Ironically, when they won the title, they did so with perhaps the lowest superstar quotient they have ever had. Among the eight teams that have won the IPL, RCB has taken the longest so far – 18 years. The previous highest was the Mumbai Indians, the IPL showtime team, which took six years to win its first trophy. In football, the veritable cycle of hope and disappointment is England at the football World Cup. The last time England won the title was in 1966, which was also the last time it hosted the World Cup. Since then, England, which has historically had a strong club structure, has created many 'this is the year' narratives, but never quite crossed the line. For nearly as long as Formula 1 has been around, the red car has been a fixture. Ferrari and F1 are synonymous with each other. It's the most winning team, with 15 driver championships [s – roughly, one every five years. But there was a 20-year stretch during which it did not win the driver's championship. Between 1950 to 1979, Ferrari dominated, winning nine championships. However, between 1980 to 1999, their championship count read ZERO. The drought ended in 2000, and over the next 24 years, it lifted the silverware six times, albeit still behind Red Bull and Mercedes with eight and seven wins respectively. It was also into such a breach that Michael Schumacher joined the team for the 1996 season, with the team not having won the driver's title since 1979. With Schumacher at the centre, Ferrari started restoring itself, climbing up the grid, fusing a slickness into its historical panache. Four years, it fell short, at times tantalisingly so. But in 20000, it came together, and Schumacher and Ferrari won that elusive title and went on a run of five straight. From cricketing possibility to mathematical impossibility, courtesy the Duckworth-Lewis system for recalculating targets in rain-affected matches, in 1992. One of the two sides out of 10 to come to the quarter-finals with a clean record, and then a quarter-final knockout in 1996. A last-over tie in 1999. Duckworth-Lewis again in 2003, at home. Unable to defend 11 runs in the last over in 2015 and finally, failing to chase down 24 runs off four overs in a T20 World Cup final. This is South Africa's list of woes in the ODI and T20 World Cups.

See the photo here: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Revathi Kamath (@ The post sparked a wave of appreciation for Mrs Kamath, with many users commending her for embracing public transport and highlighting the benefits of using the metro. One user wrote, "Of course yes, it's most convenient time saving by travelling in metro trains in very much congested cities like delhi, mumbai and Bangalore especially, instead of travelling by car or bus." Another commented, "Looks like you enjoyed your metro ride Revathi." The post also sparked interest due to its contrast with an earlier update where she received a luxury vehicle, a brand-new Mercedes, from her sons, Nikhil and Nithin Kamath, co-founders of Zerodha. In March 2025, Ms Kamath took to Facebook to share her joy, posting a heartwarming photo of herself holding the car keys. The car was a Mercedes-Benz GLS, renowned for its refined elegance, and a hefty price tag of approximately Rs 1.5 crore in India. Earlier, Biocon founder and billionaire Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw also took a metro ride, surprising commuters. She shared her experience on social media, praising the convenience and speed of the metro and thanking the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). She was accompanied on the ride by Jennifer Erich, whom she referred to as the "Iron Lady of Exxon Mobil". They took the Purple Line from Whitefield to Vidhana Soudha. Notably, Namma Metro is the rapid transit system serving the city of Bengaluru. "Namma" means "our" in Kannada, the local language. It's a convenient and efficient way to navigate the city, helping reduce traffic congestion. Currently, Namma Metro operates two lines: the purple line and the green line.

India's EV policy: Can it deliver?

To encourage global brands to invest under the Scheme, they will be allowed to import Completely Built-in Units (CBUs) of e-4W with a minimum Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF) value of $35,000 at reduced customs duty of 15% for five years from the application approval date. To avail this important benefit of the scheme, manufacturers would be required to make minimum investment of Rs4,150 crore. The maximum number of electric four-wheelers allowed to be imported at the reduced duty rate is capped at 8,000 units per year. The carryover of unutilised annual import limits would be permitted. The maximum benefits from this duty reduction are topped at Rs6,484 crore or the actual investment amount, whichever is lower. Manufacturers are also required to meet certain criteria including the need to achieve an annual turnover of at least Rs2,500 crore by the second year, Rs5,000 crore by the fourth year, and Rs7,500 crore by the fifth year. Additionally, they must reach local value-addition targets of 25% by the third year and 50% by the fifth year. They are also required to be of a certain size. The Global Group's Revenue (from automotive manufacturing) has to be at least Rs10,000 crore and if the applicant is an investment company, the revenue should not be less than Rs3,000 crore. The application widow under the scheme is likely to open soon, and will remain open for 120 days. However, the government can reopen the window as and when required till March 15, 2026.
