Acer Releases New 500Hz Monitor For Gamers
Acer has released a new 500Hz monitor for high-performance gaming, as part of a wider refresh of its screen line-up.
The Acer Predator X27U F5 is a 27in OLED screen, with a 2,560 x 1,400 resolution and that super-fast refresh rate. It joins a growing number of gaming screens that are hitting the 500Hz barrier, with previous models from Dell Alienware and Samsung also hitting that speed, although some of those earlier models have been restricted to 24in panels with only Full HD resolution.
Screen technology is beginning to outpace the PC hardware it's connected to, with even the latest graphics chips struggling to hit the 500 frames per second needed to fully utilize the 500Hz refresh rate. While older, less demanding games such as Counter-Strike 2 or Valorant might be able to push past 500fps on high-end gaming rigs, you'd struggle to get anywhere near that level of performance in more demanding games such as Cyberpunk 2077.
That's not to say the 500Hz refresh rate is without merit. It should offer the smoothest possible visuals, no matter what game you're playing. And it means the screen is somewhat future proofed as graphics hardware continues to improve.
The Predator X27U ticks a lot of other boxes for gamers. It is calibrated with True 10Bit color and supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, which synchronizes the screen's refresh rate with that of the GPU, helping to eliminate stuttering and screen tearing.
The display also boasts VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 500 certification and covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.
The screen will go on sale in Q3, priced at 899 Euros (just over $1,000).

Acer is also releasing a new 27in 4K OLED model, the Predator X27 X. This one has its speed capped at 240Hz, but otherwise shares many of the same features as its faster rival. These include the True 10Bit color, support for AMD Freesync Premium Pro, and the same coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. This one is DisplayHDR TrueBlack 400-certified. Like its faster sibling, it also has a 0.03ms (GTG) response time.
This model is more expensive, priced at 1,099 Euros (around $1,230) and will also be released in the fall. Acer has been approached for full U.S. release dates and pricing.
For those less concerned with the absolute breakneck gaming performance and more focused on entertainment, Acer has also revamped its Nitro range.
The Acer Nitro GA321QK P is a 31.5in 4K display, with a refresh rate of 165Hz and 0.05ms response time. There's also a new ultrawide 34in sibling, the GA341CUR W0, which has a faster refresh rate of 240Hz, which is plenty enough for most gaming rigs.
Both of the Nitro screens support Google TV, making them a more versatile device for watching content than the pure performance Predator displays. They also have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and support for Google Cast, so you can mirror content from nearby phones or laptops without needing a wired connection.
Acer hasn't released price or availability details for these screens at the time of writing.

Smart Lawn Care Just Leveled Up The partnership with Lowe's is a significant step forward in Sunseeker's history, since the company has the vision of transforming maintenance in the outdoors through innovative robotics. Lowe's, being one of the most reliable home improvement companies in America, provides an excellent route to reach the technological-savvy customers who want smarter, greener solutions for their properties. The action also classifies robotic mowing further as a mainstream product rather than expensive and uncommon. Innovation Off The Ground with Sunseeker X7 Range The central product in the product distribution channel of Sunseeker is the X7 series of robotic mowers. It is considered a product that is expected to change how homeowners treat their lawns. The X7 is constructed with the latest artificial intelligence, RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) navigational technology, and precision-engineered parts. Some of the Major capabilities: Adaptive mowing patterns that scale to the environmental conditions in a real-time fashion, achieving even mowing and healthier lawns RTK-level accuracy in positioning that lets the mower work with centimeter precision; no perimeter wires are required The multi-zone management, which enables the homeowner to set and manage various areas of his/her lawn without complications Technology that detects and avoids obstacles safely for those around pets, children, and outdoor furniture Weatherproof toughness, which includes an IPX certification, allows mowing through a light rain shower and general dust and dirt resistance The X7 provides a performance that is low in noise and energy efficient through its electric motor. This makes it less impactful on the environment and minimizes nuisance to the neighbours. Note: A companion mobile app allows homeowners full remote control of the mower. It has scheduling and makes the mower a vital part of the smart home ecosystem. A Standardized Sustainability and Expanse Both Sunseeker and Lowe's commit to the production of products that will improve and upgrade life with minimal harm done to the environment. Robotic lawn mowers, such as the X7, assist in limiting the amount of carbon emissions and noise pollution. Moreover, the mower has a smart scheduling that enhances better animated cutting according to the patterns of the grass. This leads to healthier turf and avoids wastage of resources. Through incorporating the product line of the Sunseeker in its online shop, Lowe's is offering its existing customers an eco-friendly product line. This can be consistent with the current shift in demand for home improvement products. Luxury vs Lifestyle Needed What was at one time seen to be an advanced piece of technology is now starting to become the norm in the household. Robotic mowers are time and energy-efficient; they help to maintain the health of your lawn and work without much human interaction, which leaves the property owner with more free time and less hard work. The user-friendly design of Sunseeker means that its customers do not need to be technically qualified to initiate and enjoy the products produced by the company. The X7 series is easy to install, the controls in the app are simple to use, and the system is programmed itself. This increases its availability to a large number of homeowners. The move toward democratized smart lawn care technology shows the larger trend of home automation. Purchase and Availability TheLowe's, which specializes in selling high-quality tools and appliances, has now begun direct selling of Sunseeker robotic mowers. Legendary fund manager Stanley Druckenmiller buys $133 million of under-radar AI stock
Legendary fund manager Stanley Druckenmiller buys $133 million of under-radar AI stock originally appeared on TheStreet. Renowned investor Stanley Druckenmiller's latest 13F filing, showing his current investments, has Wall Street buzzing. The billionaire investing giant, best known for his macro calls, made multiple bold AI and chip stock bets that go beyond the usual darlings. Yes, Microsoft made the cut, but what's catching more attention is its multi-million-dollar bet on a lesser-known AI chip stock. 💵💰💰💵 Together, his AI-powered strategy shows how the next leg of the boom could be monetized. Druckenmiller isn't chasing hype, but he's focused on the bottlenecks and toll booths that monetize every chip cycle. Inside Stanley Druckenmiller's investing playbook Stanley Druckenmiller made his name in macro, spotting moves most investors never saw coming. He's most famous for helping fellow billionaire George Soros short the British pound in 1992's 'Black Wednesday,' a trade which netted over $1 billion. But that was just the Druckenmiller's edge lies in his clear strategy. He aims to efficiently sift through potent long-term trends, express them cleanly, and size up fast. Hence, his plays are mostly concentrated and thematic, which many in the investing punditry would consider way ahead of the curve. The strategy has clearly worked, given his $11 billion net worth—good enough to rank him 295th on Bloomberg's Billionaires Index. Much of his wealth was built post-Soros through investments he's made via his Duquesne family office. Right now, his top theme is for him, it's not about betting on the next killer app; the focus is on the entire AI value chain. That includes key chipmakers, materials suppliers, infrastructure, and cloud platforms powering AI at scale. Stanley Druckenmiller drops $132.7 million on Entegris in AI chip stock bet Stanley Druckenmiller's second-quarter buys show he's effectively targeting the backbone of the AI boom. Here's how the portfolio shifted in Q2: Major bets: Entegris: $132.7 million stake, his largest new position. Microsoft: $99.9 million added. iShares Russell 2000 ETF: $72.3 million, which shows a bullish call on small caps. Citigroup: $56.7 million, part of a rotation into big banks. Stocks sold: Capital One: Sold out of a roughly $35.4 million stake. Amazon: Exited a $26 million holding. SpringWorks Therapeutics: Exited a $27.2 million biotech position. Increased Exposure: Insmed: Boosted to $226.8 million, now one of its largest holdings. Taiwan Semiconductor: Added over 166,000 shares, raising the stake to $173.3 million. Trimmed Stakes: Coupang: Cut by 56%, leaving $123 million. Barclays: Reduced by nearly 60%, down to $28.8 Q2, the billionaire investor made a massive $132.7 million new bet on Entegris () , an AI chip stock most people haven't heard of, but one that's mission-critical in advancing AI chips. Entegris delivers the filtration systems, chemical containers, and wafer-handling tools that keep things humming at chip fabrication plants. The stuff it provides is recurring and tough to replace, while critical for getting high chip yields. Druckenmiller's team is betting that as AI chip demand soars, key manufacturers will need more of what Entegris sells. The company is also expanding its U.S. manufacturing capacity, backed by the CHIPS Act, a sign it's targeting serious long-term expansion ahead. More News: Tesla just got its biggest break yet in the robotaxi wars with a key permit Bank of America drops shocking price target on hot weight-loss stock post-earnings JPMorgan drops 3-word verdict on Amazon stock post-earnings However, that's just one piece of the puzzle. Druckenmiller also added a massive $99.9 million stake in Microsoft, a company that dominates cloud-based AI software, while opening a new position in Broadcom, which powers AI data centers along with networking chips and custom accelerators. He didn't stop there. Druckenmiller also loaded up on 166,000 shares of Taiwan Semiconductor, taking his stake to $173 million. TSMC is the most important chip foundry in the world, so in many ways that bet speaks for itself. Druckenmiller rotates into big banks AI infrastructure wasn't the only area into which Druckenmiller poured his millions in Q2, as he shifted toward traditional finance and a broader U.S. market recovery. The Duquesne Family Office opened new positions in Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, while also scooping up the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund, a sector-wide bet on the back of healthier deal flow, trading activity, and resilient consumer credit. Many would say this is signature Druckenmiller, where, when he spots the cycle settling, he goes with the institutions that profit from it at scale. Additionally, it's also a silent nod to the improving financial plumbing, where IPO chatter is rising, M&A is slowly reviving, and rate volatility appears to be cooling off. However, the louder message came through via macro index calls. Druckenmiller initiated bullish positions on both the S&P 500 and Russell 2000 ETFs, showing confidence in the U.S. stock market's momentum and depth beyond tech megacaps. Hence, if AI drove the first leg of the rally, this setup suggests a broader 'phase two' in which Main Street stocks lead the charge. It's important to note that Stanley Druckenmiller's Duquesne Family Office wrapped up Q2 with 69 holdings valued at an eye-catching $4.07 fund manager Stanley Druckenmiller buys $133 million of under-radar AI stock first appeared on TheStreet on Aug 18, 2025 This story was originally reported by TheStreet on Aug 18, 2025, where it first appeared.
