The initiative targets students in three secondary and four primary schools using digital payment systems to ensure transparency and direct support. Masidi emphasized the importance of equal educational opportunities, especially in socioeconomically challenged districts like Pitas. Advertisement He said an engagement session with the 10 associations was held Tuesday to scrutinise proposed amendments to restrictions on the use of subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in trade and business, including considering the needs of micro and small-scale food and beverage vendors. 'Various recommendations and views have been put forward. Among the matters to be considered are the amendment parameters related to defining the business scale of the food and beverage sales involved. 'Additionally, careful consideration is needed for business ownership status, quantity requirements, control and reporting mechanisms, monitoring and enforcement effectiveness, and strategies to curb leakages comprehensively,' he said via his official Facebook page. The Cabinet Meeting on June 5 had agreed to KPDN's recommendation to amend the provisions of the PPKB gazetted in 2021, but details on several matters need to be finalised to ensure legal clarity. Former Sabah Ports director fined RM700,000 for bribery

Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga imposed fines between RM38,000 and RM58,000 per charge, totaling RM700,000 — an amount Abel has already paid. Advertisement The charges involved bribes totaling RM632,296.03 received from two companies between 2017 and 2018 during his tenure as JPDS director. The bribes were linked to approvals for towing services and licences within the Kimanis port limit, with funds deposited into accounts of three companies in various bank branches. Reform GLCs for Sabah's future, says UPKO's treasurer

Indang. He stressed that GLCs should drive economic growth, create jobs, empower local entrepreneurs, and contribute to state revenue. Advertisement However, he said, many GLCs have failed in their purpose due to political interference and poor governance, becoming financial burdens instead. Dennison called for a merit-based, professional approach in board appointments and transparent investment evaluations. Underperforming GLCs, he said, should be restructured or dissolved. He welcomed the formation of the Sabah GLC Monitoring Committee, viewing it as a vital step toward improving integrity, transparency, and accountability.
