"Born to Be Alive" unveils first-look for Yang Zi
In the photo, Yang Zi is seen with a much fuller face, with no make-up and wearing clothing that suits the weather of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau where the drama takes place. Her complexion also seemed to have darkened due to exposure to the high altitude.
It was also revealed that Yang Zi went to Qinghai six months in advance for the project in order to experience the local life. Aside from gaining 10kg for the series, she also learned the Tibetan language, yak riding, and other necessary skills.
She was also revealed to have refused using a body double for the more high-intensity scenes.
Director Li Xue also praised Yang Zi, saying she is "one of the few young actors who can endure hardships".
The story of "Born to Be Alive" focuses on Bai Ju, a lost girl who is adopted by a family in the beautiful Tibetan Plateau, and grows up to become a police woman. It also co-stars Hu Ge.
