Karnataka Minister slams BJP after Opposition leader allegedly calls him a ‘dog'
Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge hit back at BJP Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, who allegedly compared him to a dog. 'After calling me a dog, do you expect me to give Bharat Ratna to him?' Kharge said, claiming the remark reflected the BJP's frustration over his continued political criticism.Referring to Narayanaswamy as 'Manuvadi Narayanaswamy', Kharge accused him of betraying the ideals of Dr BR Ambedkar. 'The dream of equality that Ambedkar envisioned has been trampled by 'Manuvadi Narayanaswamy,' who places himself under the feet of the Sangh Parivar,' he said. He further added, 'A BJP leader in the Upper House who hasn't faced a single election has no right or merit to speak about me, someone who has earned the people's trust and won three times. Let him first contest and win at least one election and prove his merit.'advertisementKharge also accused the BJP of resorting to personal attacks out of frustration in a strongly worded post on X. 'Politically and ideologically unable to target me, the BJP is finding satisfaction in making personal attacks against me out of helplessness,' he wrote.
Kharge said the party's 'hateful statements' were a response to his exposure of major scams during the BJP's tenure, including the Ganga Kalyana scam, Bitcoin scam, Karnataka Kalyana Rajya Drishti Yojana Board scam, Covid-19 scam, and Police Sub-Inspector scam. 'Moreover, their frustration also stems from the fact that I am exposing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideologically,' he added.Listing past derogatory remarks directed at him, Kharge noted, 'They have called me a 'convent Dalit', said the name 'Priyank' is unclear, whether male or female, claimed my body has grown but not my intellect, and even said I developed piles because I questioned the BJP. Now, they've gone so far as to call me a 'dog'. All these insults show the BJP's limitless intolerance towards me.'advertisementHe also took aim at the party's alleged hypocrisy. 'If the son of a former chief minister becomes BJP's state president, it's called merit. But if I get elected by the people three times, it's called family influence! Great logic by the BJP!' he said.Meanwhile, Congress workers blocked Narayanaswamy from leaving the guest house in Chittapur, Kalaburagi district, where he was staying during his visit for the Tiranga Yatra. Police deployed heavy security in the area to prevent further escalation.BJP State President BY Vijayendra condemned the incident and called it an 'emergency-like situation'. In a post on X, he wrote, 'The incident where Shri @NswamyChalavadi, who holds a constitutional post and is a leader from the oppressed communities as the Leader of the Opposition, was held under house arrest at the Chittapur guest house is highly condemnable.'He said the Congress had failed to ensure the safety of a constitutional authority, stating, 'The fact that police are unable to protect a Leader of the Opposition is reminiscent of an emergency-like situation.' He added that if Chief Minister Siddaramaiah does not act against those responsible, 'he too becomes complicit in this feudal political culture.'Vijayendra concluded by affirming the BJP's support for marginalised voices. 'The BJP prioritises upholding democratic values and stands firmly in support of protecting leaders like Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, who have risen from oppressed communities,' he stated.

Israel hits Iran nuclear site, kills its military brass, top scientists
Representative image Iran was reeling on Friday from waves of Israeli strikes that decapitated its military chain of command and targeted a key nuclear facility, as US President Donald Trump urged Iran to strike a deal curbing its nuclear programme or risk "even more brutal" attacks. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu described the assault, which was brought about by deploying warplanes and drones smuggled into the country, as a last resort to prevent a nuclear-armed Iran, which Israel views as an existential threat. Israel said the strikes were only the start of 'Operation Rising Lion'. The attacks also killed several top Iranian officials and six nuclear scientists and hit Iran's long-range missile facilities and aerial defences. As evening fell, Iranian media reported explosions on the northern and southern outskirts of Tehran and at Fordo, near the holy city of Qom, a second major nuclear site. Israel's military said it was striking Iranian missile and drone launching sites. Air defences were activated across Tehran and explosions could be heard in Isfahan, with Israel claiming it had struck the nuke site there. Iran said in retaliation "the gates of hell will open". by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! Iran's state news agency IRNA said hundreds of ballistic missiles had been launched, shortly after supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei promised "harsh punishment". There were no immediate reports of casualties. Friday's strikes were the first time Israel successfully hit Iran's nuke facilities, including its main enrichment facility at Natanz, which an Israeli military spokesperson said had suffered "significant damage."

Voters ‘board'? Mind games on: Character takes centre stage in Ludhiana West race
Ludhiana: Can an election be so devoid of politico-economic issues that a candidate's demeanor and public conduct become the dominant electoral issue? That's the striking message emerging from Ludhiana (West), an assembly constituency braced for a fierce contest on June 19. If the large-sized posters dotting every major roundabout and road and handouts reaching voters' doorsteps are to be believed, then apart from the routine promises of speedy delivery of development and official works, other major campaign themes are "arrogance", "respect" and "quarrelsome" nature of a candidate, who, if elected, "would keep fighting with the govt." AAP slogans target Ashu's demeanor The apparent target of this campaign is Congress nominee Bharat Bhushan Ashu and propaganda tools that are carrying this message hammer and tongs belong to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) nominee and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora, who, with numerous such billboards, has successfully dominated the propaganda landscape of the segment. "Na gussa na hankaar, kam hon ge lagataar (There will no anger and arrogance. There will continuous focus on works)" is one of the most visible slogans crafted by AAP to target Ashu and printed on almost every alternative billboard erected by AAP alongside major roads, completing its rhyme with "Aap da MLA, Aap Di sarkar (It will be AAP's MLA in AAP's government.) As if "respect" is an election issue for voters, another slogan having reference to it as "Hon ge kamm, milega satikaar, AAP da MLA AAP di sarkar (Work will be done, respect will be bestowed; it will be AAP's MLA in AAP's government)" AAP's attack on "arrogance" has attained another level in a handout circulated in some pockets of the constituency while pointing out three reasons to vote for Arora. Apart from his "affable personality" and "his ability to get work done from his own govt if he becomes MLA", the third reason was "arrogance and insulting behavior of an opponent." "Everyone knows how arrogant he was. He is folding hands because elections are around the corner. Once he wins, he will not even recognise you. Like what he did in past, he would insult others, he would pick quarrels…would irk masses and most importantly, he would keep quarreling with government for next two years. No cleanliness, drains blocked, garbage everywhere…there will be no development", reads a portion of a handout published in Punjabi and distributed on Thursday morning. On the other hand, in a press conference he addressed on Thursday along with senior Congress leader Pawan Khera, Ashu acknowledged he was being personally targeted through hoardings. When asked about allegations against AAP candidate, he responded, "I would not resort to such practices. That's not the kind of politics I do." Subtle replies on Cong billboards It's not that only Arora's hoardings are carrying such slogans. Slogans on Ashu's hoarding also suggest that they are written with tongue-in-cheek. The most prominent of them is "Na jhooth na laare, kam karda bahut saare (Neither lies nor false promises. He is the one who get lot of works done)." Although slogan is targeting Ashu's opponents, it still leaves the onlookers guessing as to whom Ashu is targeting with these words. Boxes Cong's Punjabi versus 'outsider' As Congress is pulling all stops to turn this elections into Punjabis versus Arvind Kejriwal contest, a very large sized hoarding installed at the main election office of Bharat Bhushan Ashu aptly delivers this message with the slogan, "Punjab de faisle, Punjabi lain ge ( Punjabis will take decisions about Punjab)." SAD's 'tuhada apna' Contrast to its traditional of contesting election on the religious-political-development plank, Shiromani Akali Dal's posters appearing somber and this time. Posters of advocate Parupkaar Singh Ghuman carry just one message: Tuhade vichon, tuhada apna (The one from amongst you, The one who is yours)" BJP's reserved approach Campaign posters and hoardings put up by BJP are also somber and avoid any negative sloganeering. Apart from routine promises of development and efficient work delivery, the posters also carry pictures of several national and state BJP leaders apart from the candidate Jiwan Gupta. The ED said in a statement that the attached assets include Congress Bhawan at Sukma district headquarters, which is in the name of Chhattisgarh PCC, a residential house at Raipur in the name of Kawasi Lakhma and a house at Sukma in the name of his son Harish Kawasi. The value of these three assets is `6.15 crore, it said. This is the first time that the federal probe agency has attached assets of a political party under the anti-money laundering law. A Congress spokesperson said in Raipur that the ED action was 'part of BJP's political conspiracy' and added that the party will furnish records of 'each and every' penny used for the construction of the office at Sukma.
