Shein's UK revenue up 32% last year

This story was originally published on Fashion Dive. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Fashion Dive newsletter. Dive Brief: Shein's revenue in the U.K. was about 2 billion pounds, or about $2.8 billion, in 2024, according to filings with the Companies House. The change marks a 32% increase from 1.55 billion pounds in 2023. The fast fashion giant doesn't ordinarily disclose revenue, but its U.K. 2024 financial information was filed with the U.K.'s register of companies on Wednesday. Shein's gross profit in the U.K was 68 million pounds in 2024. Dive Insight: Shein has been targeting the U.K. as a region for potential growth, especially as shifting consumer sentiment and tariff policies have recently impacted the company in the U.S. In 2023, analysts noted that Shein was growing in popularity among Generation Z shoppers in the U.K., and later that year Shein bought U.K.-based Missguided from the Frasers Group. Shein also announced a fund to help designers and startups in the region. This year, changing U.S. tariff rates on China and the ending of the de minimis provision caused Shein to raise its prices before walking back the price increases. Following the tariff impacts, Shein pivoted its marketing spending to the EU and U.K., according to data from Consumer Edge, and that focus seemed to pay off. In May, Shein's sales growth in the U.K. was up nearly 50% year over year. Despite growth in the U.K., the U.S. is still a more important market for Shein, as well as for its fast fashion competitor Temu, Fashion Dive previously reported. Also in last week's filing with the Companies House, Shein noted that it opened two new U.K. offices, in King's Cross and Manchester. The filing also listed a popup shop in Liverpool and a Christmas bus tour across 12 cities in the U.K. Recommended Reading PVH is 'focused on what we can control' in uncertain consumer environment Error in retrieving data Sign in to access your portfolio Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data

Frontier Airlines Unveils $69 Elite Gold Status Offer to Lure Rival Flyers

Frontier Airlines has come up with a new approach to attract customers. In an effort to get more people to fly it, the ultra-low-cost carrier—whose parent, Frontier Group Holdings, has a ticker symbol of ULCC—unveiled a limited-time promotion offering Elite Gold status through the end of 2026 for members of four rival airlines' frequent-flyer programs for $69. The promotion is aimed at people who were part of the membership programs of Southwest (LUV), JetBlue (JBLU), Alaska (ALK), or Spirit (FLYY) as of Monday. Notably, it is not available to members of the three biggest U.S. airlines: Delta (DAL), United (UAL), or American (AAL). Those approved for Frontier's Elite Gold status will receive free carry-on bags, complimentary upgrades to UpFront Plus seats, and free seat assignments at booking—and could easily recoup the $69 charge with the purchase of a one-way fare, let alone a round-trip ticket, given the carrier's business model of rock-bottom fares but high ancillary fees. The new "benefits cannot be applied to existing bookings to replace ancillary selections already paid for," the terms and conditions state. "Only where ancillary items such as seat selection or bags are not already paid for can the new status benefits be applied. No refund of these ancillary selections is allowed." Shein reportedly weighs moving back to China to gain approval for Hong Kong IPO

Shein is considering moving its headquarters back to China from Singapore in a bid to convince Beijing authorities to approve the online fast-fashion company's Hong Kong initial public offering, according to a Bloomberg report on Tuesday. The report said that Shein had gone so far as to consult lawyers about setting up a parent company in mainland China, citing people familiar with the matter. However, it added that there was no guarantee that Shein would act upon the preliminary discussions. Shein, which sources a significant amount of its goods from China, confidentially filed for an initial public offering in Hong Kong last month, according to a Financial Times report. That comes after delays in Shein's plans for an initial public offering in London that was filed over a year ago, according to Reuters, as the company struggled to secure regulatory approval. Shein did not respond to a request for comment from CNBC. A London listing had been seen as a potential boon for the Chinese-founded company, providing it more legitimacy for its international business and access to a deep and mature pool of Western investors. However, the company has faced headwinds in Western markets this year, with the U.S. President Donald Trump removing a valuable tariff exemption that had helped it maintain low prices on small shipments from China. Lawmakers in some other Western markets are considering similar moves. Read the full Bloomberg report here.
