Frontier Airlines Adds 15 New Routes for Fall to Cities Like Charleston, Denver, and Chicago—and Fares Start at Just $29

A fall or winter getaway just got cheaper. Starting Oct. 7, low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines is expanding its network with 15 different routes, according to the airline. Best of all, Frontier is celebrating with introductory fares as low as $29. 'With new destinations in Texas and Virginia, our return to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and new routes between several of our top cities, now is a better time than ever for consumers to give Frontier a try and experience the comfort, convenience and savings we are known for," Frontier Airlines Vice President of Network and Operations Design Josh Flyr said in a statement, adding "consumers will have even more affordable flight options to choose from as they plan their travel through 2025 and into the new year." For travelers on the East Coast, Frontier will begin a new service connecting New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to both Denver International Airport (DEN) and Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) on Oct. 8. The airline will also begin a new route between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) on Oct. 7. On the West Coast, the airline will begin new service between Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) and San Antonio International Airport (SAT) on Oct. 10, and between Tucson International Airport (TUS) and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) on Oct. 9. Other new routes include service between Denver and Corpus Christi International Airport (CRP), and service from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to Omaha's Eppley Airfield (OMA) and Virginia's Richmond International Airport (RIC). Travelers looking to explore one of the top cities in the United States are in luck since Frontier will begin new service twice per week from Dallas to Charleston on Oct. 9. The South Carolina city was recently ranked as a favorite in the 2025 World's Best Awards by Travel + Leisure readers. To take advantage of Frontier's $29 introductory fares, travelers must book by 11:59 p.m. ET on July 28 and travel on select days of the week between Oct. 7 and Dec. 18. The discounted travel is not valid during blackout dates from Nov. 21 to 26, Nov. 28 to 30, or Dec. 1 to 2, according to the airline. Frontier is not alone in its expansion efforts. From coast to coast, major carriers have been on the move. Fellow low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines, for example, recently announced a new flight to Key West, FL, from Fort Lauderdale, and American Airlines is expanding in time for the winter holiday season with new routes planned throughout Mexico and the Caribbean.

Frontier Airlines to launch new nonstop between Austin and San Diego in June

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Frontier Airlines announced Tuesday it will begin nonstop service between Austin and San Diego in June. Flights will operate four times a week beginning June 13. The airline anticipates operating the new route year-round. AUS Data Hub: Passenger totals, busiest months and new flights in 2025 'We are thrilled to announce another new route as we continue to grow our presence in Austin,' said Josh Flyr, Frontier's vice president of network and operations design. 'With Frontier's trademark low fares available on 11 nonstop routes from AUS, now is a better time than ever for consumers in Central Texas to make Frontier their airline of choice.' Alaska Airlines and Southwest Airlines currently both serve the AUS-SAN route. San Diego will be Frontier's seventh new route from AUS this year. Service to Chicago O'Hare, Cincinnati, Orlando and Phoenix began earlier this month, while flights to Miami and Philadelphia are set to take off May 22. In 2024, Frontier more than doubled its passenger total at AUS from the previous year, carrying almost 225,000 passengers in and out of Austin. The total was the highest since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, but still only about a quarter of the number seen in 2019. Last year, 1.03% of passengers at AUS flew on a Frontier flight, up from 0.46% in 2023, but down from 5.12% in 2019. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Frontier Airlines introducing three new routes through San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Budget airline Frontier has announced new nonstop routes coming to San Diego International Airport later this year. Beginning in mid-June, the airline will have regular service flights to and from Chicago O-Hare International Airport, Bergstrom International Airport in Austin, Texas, and Salt Lake City International in Utah. With these new routes, which were announced by the carrier on Tuesday, Frontier will have nonstop offerings to eight destinations through San Diego. Alaska Airlines now offers nonstop service between San Diego, Washington, DC 'With Frontier's trademark low fares available on eight nonstop routes from SAN, now is a better time than ever for consumers in Southern California to make Frontier their airline of choice,' Josh Flyr, vice president of network and operations design for Frontier Airlines, said in a release. The Chicago O'Hare service will be the first new route to launch, starting daily trips on June 12. Trips to Salt Lake City and Austin will begin the following day, June 13, and continue three times a week and four times a week, respectively. To commemorate the new routes, Frontier is offering extra discounted tickets for passengers for trips to each of the cities through Aug. 18. The peak travel period around the Fourth of July holiday is excluded from the promotion. The introductory fare will start at $39 for Salt Lake City, $59 for Austin and $69 for Chicago, according to the airline. Frontier is the latest airline to announce expanded service through San Diego ahead of the expected opening of the airport's new Terminal 1 later this year. Just last month, Southwest announced expansions to five destinations, including Fresno, Tampa, and San José Del Cabo, Mexico. SAN presents 100 works by 16 SoCal artists in new exhibit, 'Mirror Mirror' The terminal, which will become the home base of Frontier, Southwest, Spirit and JetBlue, among others, will replace the existing Terminal 1 with up to 30 new gates and modernized amenities for travelers. The first phase of the $3.8 billion construction project is expected to be complete by September 2025 and will include the opening of 19 gates, according to the airport authority. The second phase will focus on demolition of the existing Terminal 1 and construction of the second wing of the building — work that is expected to take until at least mid-2028.
