Frontier Airlines introducing three new routes through San Diego
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Budget airline Frontier has announced new nonstop routes coming to San Diego International Airport later this year.
Beginning in mid-June, the airline will have regular service flights to and from Chicago O-Hare International Airport, Bergstrom International Airport in Austin, Texas, and Salt Lake City International in Utah.
With these new routes, which were announced by the carrier on Tuesday, Frontier will have nonstop offerings to eight destinations through San Diego.

'With Frontier's trademark low fares available on eight nonstop routes from SAN, now is a better time than ever for consumers in Southern California to make Frontier their airline of choice,' Josh Flyr, vice president of network and operations design for Frontier Airlines, said in a release.
The Chicago O'Hare service will be the first new route to launch, starting daily trips on June 12. Trips to Salt Lake City and Austin will begin the following day, June 13, and continue three times a week and four times a week, respectively.
To commemorate the new routes, Frontier is offering extra discounted tickets for passengers for trips to each of the cities through Aug. 18. The peak travel period around the Fourth of July holiday is excluded from the promotion.
The introductory fare will start at $39 for Salt Lake City, $59 for Austin and $69 for Chicago, according to the airline.
Frontier is the latest airline to announce expanded service through San Diego ahead of the expected opening of the airport's new Terminal 1 later this year. Just last month, Southwest announced expansions to five destinations, including Fresno, Tampa, and San José Del Cabo, Mexico.

The terminal, which will become the home base of Frontier, Southwest, Spirit and JetBlue, among others, will replace the existing Terminal 1 with up to 30 new gates and modernized amenities for travelers.
The first phase of the $3.8 billion construction project is expected to be complete by September 2025 and will include the opening of 19 gates, according to the airport authority.
The second phase will focus on demolition of the existing Terminal 1 and construction of the second wing of the building — work that is expected to take until at least mid-2028.

'Trump accounts': CEOs to unveil investments for newborns at White House
The CEOs of Uber, Dell, Goldman Sachs and more are expected to announce Monday that they will collectively invest billions of dollars into so-called Trump accounts for the children of their employees, a White House spokesperson confirmed to CNBC. The executive are slated to make the commitments during President Donald Trump's roundtable event touting the eponymous pilot program, which would deposit $1,000 from the government in investment accounts for newborn Americans. NBC News first reported the details of the event. More than half a dozen corporate leaders are set to appear for the "Invest America" roundtable at the White House at 2 p.m. ET, the White House official told CNBC. They include: The provision to create the accounts passed the House last month as part of the massive budget bill that the president is pushing Republicans to send to his desk before the Fourth of July. The bill is pending before the Senate, where it faces strong pushback from some fiscally conservative Republicans who are demanding major changes. The program — previously referred to as "Money Accounts for Growth and Advancement" or "MAGA Accounts" — would seed index fund accounts with $1,000 in government funds for U.S. citizens born between Jan. 1, 2025, and Dec. 31, 2028. The tax-deferred accounts, which track the overall U.S. stock market, allow additional contributions of up to $5,000 per year. The seed money will be funded by the Treasury Department and controlled by the child's guardians. Funds can be distributed once the beneficiary turns 18. The pilot program is similar to other savings account options that already exist, including 529 college savings plans, which have higher contribution limits. Some financial advisors say that the Trump accounts may not offer the best investment incentives. "The passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill will literally change the lives of working, middle class families across America by delivering the largest tax cuts in history, increasing the child tax credit, and by creating this incredible new 'Trump Account' program, which will put the lives of young Americans on the right financial path!"
