Lifeboat crews called to yacht casualty off the Isle of Wight
The Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat (SSILB) was called out at 9.55pm last night (Saturday) to assist the RNLI Yarmouth Lifeboat with a medical transfer.

The initial response was made by Yarmouth RNLI, who assessed the situation and, as the SSILB reached the vicinity of the bay, the crew launched to rendezvous and assist with transferring the casualty onto the lifeboat, a spokesperson for the Sandown-based rescue team confirmed.
Graphic showing the rescue route (Image: SSILB) With the casualty safely aboard, they returned to their station in Sandown, where they were met by the Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team, who provided initial medical care.
Shortly afterwards, the patient was handed over to the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service for further treatment.
A spokesperson for the SSILB said: "Following the successful multi-agency response, the lifeboat was refuelled, washed down and our volunteer crew were stood down and back to pagers just after 1am.
"A huge thank you to all teams involved — a seamless effort between agencies working together."

Two rescued from sailboat caught on ‘notorious' shoreline on Lake Erie
VERMILION, Ohio (WJW) — Two people were rescued from a sailboat that had run aground on Lake Erie over the weekend. According to the Vermilion Police Department, the marine patrol unit responded to a distress call just offshore from Sherod Park at about 2:40 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3. Two crew members were safely transferred onto the patrol boat, and a tow boat was eventually able to unground the sailboat and tow it back to Vermilion for a damage assessment. Fire at industrial estate sparks huge 999 response as black smoke pours from building
A large industrial estate blaze has sparked a huge 999 response this afternoon. Police and multiple fire engines remain on Usworth Road in Hartlepool this afternoon (August 4) after a blaze broke out just before 3pm. According to residents, the surrounding area has been blocked off by 999 crews as plumes of black smoke continue to pour into the air. The fire which has broke out in Hartlepool.
