Pakistan espionage case: What YouTuber Jasbir Singh's lawyer said in his defence
After YouTuber Jasbir Singh was arrested on charges of espionage, his lawyer, Madhav Shukla, questioned the credibility of the police investigation and said that the case lacked concrete evidence. Speaking to ANI on Wednesday, advocate Shukla said that the case against his client was based solely on unsubstantiated claims of links to Pakistan's spy agency, the ISI. "Jasbir Singh was arrested yesterday, and the court sent him to a 3-day Police remand. On June 7, he will be produced in court again. As per the police FIR, there are 3 allegations against him. One is that he gets foreign funding, the second is that he has links with the ISI, and the third is that he has sensitive data with him. He used to appear before the State Special Operations Cell as a responsible citizen whenever he was summoned. If he had any malicious intentions, he would have avoided it," said Shukla. Also Read | Jasbir Singh, arrested for 'spying', seen hugging Pakistani cops in old video: 'The love of…' The lawyer further revealed that the defence team had already submitted Singh's bank statements, financial records, and phone data to the police. "Police have not come up on record with anything like who he was in touch with, his mode of communication and his mode of money transfer. They just have a simple allegation that he has a connection with ISI," he further asked. Jasbir Singh, a Punjab-based YouTuber, was allegedly in close contact with influencer Jyoti Malhotra, who is already in custody on charges of spying for Pakistan, PTI reported, citing officials. Singh was arrested on Tuesday after police unearthed a 'terror-backed espionage network' linked to him. He had allegedly travelled to Pakistan three times, officials said. Thug Life Bookings: Tamil Government gives permission for special shows, last to end at 2 AM
Mani Ratnam's Thug Life stirred controversy after it was banned from screening throughout Karnataka. This occurred after one of Kamal Haasan's statements at the pre-release event hurt the sentiments of Kannada-speaking people. And now, with just a day left for release, the film has been granted permission to hold special shows in Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu government allows special morning shows for Thug Life As per the latest directive issued by the Tamil Nadu government, a total of five special shows have been allowed to be screened early morning, from 9 AM and running till 2 AM the next day. This change came forth after a special request was made by the CEO of the production house of the film, Raaj Kamal Films International. The move has further buzzed excitement among fans who are all set to watch the gangster action thriller on the big screen. Kamal Haasan agreed to stall Thug Life's screening in Karnataka After the ban from KFCC, Kamal Haasan moved to the High Court, pleading for better judgement and security. Moreover, he even issued a written statement where he articulated how wrongly his statements were interpreted. However, since his letter did not have any trace of apology as demanded by the KFCC, the Court simply upheld that the two parties must have a conversation before the film would get screening rights in Karnataka. As a result, the Tamil senior actor also agreed and stated that his film wouldn't be screened entirely all over Karnataka until both parties had a dialogue and sorted out the issues. Why did Kamal Haasan upset Kannada-speaking people? The bone of contention between the Kannada Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) and Haasan sparked after the latter said that Kannada was born out of Tamil. This comment left many surprised, with many believing it belittled another ancient language.

Pankaj Tripathi reveals if he is part of Kamal Haasan-starrer Thug Life amid row. Here's what actor has to say
Actor Pankaj Tripathi has reacted to a question on whether he is part of Thug Life amid a row following Kamal Haasan's recent statement. When India Today asked Pankaj about his experience working with Kamal, he refuted being part of the film. (Also Read | Karnataka HC adjourns Kamal Haasan's Thug Life release to June 10, notes actor's letter did not have the word 'apology') Pankaj Tripathi called the rumours false, adding that it is a brainchild of the internet. The actor said, "Yeh jhooti khabar hai, yeh satya nahi hail. Yeh internet dwara paida ki hui khabar hai. Haan ji, main nahi kar raha hoon (This is false news, it's not true. It's a rumour born on the internet)." However, Pankaj is open to working in South films provided that the language is Hindi. The actor said that when he speaks the lines, he should know the language. 'Kyunki main gaya tha ek baar Telugu film karne. Aur jab main 'ABCD' bolne mein... mujhe bahut asahajta hoti hai. Ki line samajhni chahiye, ki main jo bol raha hoon. Toh main chahta hoon karun, lekin character Hindi-speaking taki mere abhinay mein sahajata rahe (I once went to do a Telugu film, and when I had to say even simple lines like 'ABCD', I felt very uncomfortable. I need to understand the meaning of what I'm saying, and I want my character to be Hindi-speaking so that my performance can feel natural and effortless)," he added. Thug Life found itself in a controversy after Kamal made "Kannada was born out of Tamil" remark. On Tuesday, the Karnataka High Court rapped the actor for refusing to apologise for the comment while hearing a plea seeking protection for release of his movie Thug Life in the state. The movie will not be released in Karnataka on June 5, the scheduled date for the pan-India release, its producers told the court, following which it postponed the hearing to June 10. Kamal had said that his statement was misunderstood and that his words were taken out of context. Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam, also stars Trisha Krishnan and Silambarasan TR in the lead roles. Pankaj will be next seen in Metro In Dino helmed by Anurag Basu. Backed by producer Bhushan Kumar, the film introduces a world of modern love and relationships. The film also features Anupam Kher, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, Neena Gupta and Saswata Chatterjee. The film is set to release on July 4. with PTI inputs
