Sharjeel assails India for growing belligerence against Pakistan
KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that India demonstrated hostility towards Pakistan in an illegal, irresponsible manner and in an open violation of international norms in response to an unsubstantiated accusation of terrorism.
Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon said that India blamed Pakistan for the Pahalgam incident without carrying out even a single investigation or producing evidence. He added that India also rejected Pakistan's offer for an impartial inquiry, which clearly indicates that India had already planned to carry out aggression based on premeditated accusations.
He said that Pakistan acted responsibly and decisively in self-defense, successfully shot down Indian Air Force aircraft and killed three pilots.
This operation marked an unprecedented achievement against the enemy's advanced technology and is being widely acknowledged around the world.
He added that, in retaliatory actions, Pakistan targeted key military installations across the Line of Control, resulting in the deaths of 40 to 50 Indian soldiers.
Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that India has a history of concealing its failures, citing the example of awarding the Vir Chakra to Abhinandan, the pilot of a downed aircraft.
He said that on the night of May 7 and 8, India escalated tensions by targeting three types of objectives. First, attacks were carried out against the Sikh community and their religious sites within India to instill fear among Sikhs. Second, these attacks were falsely attributed to Pakistan in an attempt to spread hatred.
Third, India aimed to create a false impression of victory by presenting the wreckage from these attacks as evidence of downed Pakistani aircraft.
He added that the second target was Pakistan's defense installations, aimed at weakening the country's defensive and offensive capabilities. The third target was the civilian population, intended to spread fear and despair among the Pakistani people.
He added that Pakistan not only downed Indian aircraft but also successfully targeted their military check posts. Sharjeel Inam Memon claimed that the Modi government procured the planes with corrupt means, a truth accepted by opposition parties in India itself.
Sharjeel stated that the entire nation stands firmly with the Pakistani armed forces.
He further said that Pakistan is a nuclear power and has every right to defend itself. Innocent children and civilians have been martyred in Indian attacks, and the blood of these martyrs will certainly be avenged.
He further mentioned the Sindh government is closely monitoring the entire situation and is fully prepared to address any potential threat.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), visited forward positions along the Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha with frontline troops, the military's media wing said. The Army Chief praised the formation's performance during Marqa-e-Haq and Operation Bunyaanum Marsoos, paying tribute to the martyrs and Ghazis. 'You have befittingly avenged the loss of innocent Pakistani lives, including children, women, and the elderly, through your bold and effective response,' he said. While interacting with the troops, COAS Munir appreciated their high morale, operational preparedness, and vigilance in countering ceasefire violations by Indian forces. He reiterated full confidence in the armed forces' ability to deter and defeat any aggression. Reaffirming Pakistan's principled position on the Kashmir dispute, the COAS said the just and valiant struggle of the Kashmiri people against Indian occupation would not be forgotten. He stressed the importance of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir issue in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. The Army Chief was received by the Commander of Rawalpindi Corps upon his arrival at the LoC.

India hails trade deal in talks with visiting British FM
NEW DELHI: Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said on Saturday a trade deal with Britain was 'truly a milestone' that will boost bilateral ties as he welcomed his counterpart David Lammy to New Delhi. India and Britain struck a long-delayed free trade agreement last month after negotiations were relaunched in February. Britain has sought to bolster trade ties across the world since it left the European Union under Brexit, a need that became more pressing after the United States unleashed a global tariff blitz that risks causing weaker economic growth. 'The recent conclusion of the India-UK FTA… is truly a milestone which will not only propel our two-way trade and investment but will also have a positive effect on other strategic aspects of our bilateral ties,' Jaishankar said after meeting Lammy, who is on a two-day visit. Lammy says UK, US working to ensure enduring Pakistan, India ceasefire, dialogue 'It would also contribute to the strengthening of supply and value chains,' he said. The accord will slash tariffs on imports of UK goods into India, including whisky, cosmetics and medical devices. In exchange, Britain will cut tariffs on imports of clothes, footwear and food products, including frozen prawns, from India. Britain and India are the sixth- and fifth-largest global economies respectively, with a trade relationship worth around 41 billion pounds ($54.8 billion) and investment supporting more than 600,000 jobs across both countries. They hope the free-trade agreement will increase trade between them by about 25.5 billion pounds, as well as boost the British economy and wages. Talks were relaunched in February after stalling under Britain's previous Conservative administrations. Lammy said before his visit the deal with India was 'just the start of our ambitions'.

Special prayers were also offered for the unity of the Muslim Ummah, national development, and the well-being of Palestinians and Kashmiris. In Hyderabad and surrounding areas, more than 1,000 small and large prayer gatherings were organised. Many residents visited graveyards after Eid prayers to offer fateha for deceased loved ones, before commencing animal sacrifices. In Peshawar, major congregations took place at the central Eidgah and various neighbourhoods, reflecting the same spirit of solemnity and unity.
