She emphasised that collective and sincere efforts were essential to ensure cleanliness in rural areas under the Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2025 initiative. The Collector issued these directives during a one-day district-level workshop held at the Centenary Hall at the Collectorate on Friday, aimed at sensitising key officials on improving rural sanitation outcomes.
Addressing the workshop, the Collector stated that special focus must be placed on maintaining hygienic conditions in villages, especially as evaluation teams from Swachh Survekshan are expected to visit the district soon. These teams, under the guidance of the Academy of Management Studies (IIMS), will inspect sanitation activities and award ranks based on cleanliness standards. Villages will be assessed on sanitation efforts at primary health centres, market places, Anganwadi centres, schools and other areas with high public footfall.
Officials were directed to ensure that accurate data is updated in the PR-1 App. Furthermore, ASHA and ANM workers have been instructed to upload photos of unhygienic areas using the Vector Hygiene App. Upon receiving these alerts, panchayat secretaries must promptly act to clear garbage and verification must be done by health workers. With the onset of monsoon, there is also a heightened risk of diarrheal diseases, prompting the Collector to advise MPDOs to remain vigilant and take preventive action.
The Collector also highlighted that the Chief Minister is personally reviewing PGRES and village secretariat surveys.
Therefore, district and mandal-level officials must prioritise timely resolutions of grievances. She also instructed MPDOs to personally review applications under the 'Thalliki Vandhanam' scheme and coordinate with departments concerned to ensure swift resolution.
Requests for medical and financial aid must be forwarded to the district administration without delay for consideration under the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
The workshop concluded with a PowerPoint presentation by the master trainer on action plans and implementation strategies under the Swachh Survekshan Grameen framework.

T'puram: The state cabinet decided to increase the salaries of the district govt pleader and public prosecutor, additional govt pleader and additional public prosecutor and pleader to govt. In cases where other departments or organisations approach for sports purposes, the decision to lease the stadium at an appropriate rate should be made jointly by the stadium management committee.

Collector conducts surprise inspection of PHC in Srisailam
Srisailam: District Collector G Raja Kumari emphasized the need for doctors to remain accessible to patients and provide them with quality healthcare services. On Sunday, she conducted a surprise inspection of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) and Community Health Centres (CHCs) in Srisailam, assessing the functioning and infrastructure of these medical facilities. During her visit, she stated that the State government is giving high priority to public healthcare, allocating significant funds to support the medical needs of the underprivileged. She urged doctors at government hospitals to approach their duties with empathy and ensure the poor, who often cannot afford private treatment, receive timely and effective care. She directed healthcare personnel to improve maternal care services and increase institutional deliveries at PHCs. She stressed the importance of ensuring that essential medicines are always available to patients and instructed staff to maintain cleanliness in and around hospital premises. As part of the inspection, she reviewed data on the number of deliveries conducted monthly, daily patient visits, availability of doctors and staff, and the presence of essential medical equipment in all wards. She personally interacted with medical staff and patients to understand existing challenges and encouraged the team to work diligently to enhance the hospital's reputation and service quality.

Advanced Liver Transplant Institute opens at city hospital
MGM SevenHills Hospital inaugurated an Advanced Liver Transplant Institute, in Visakhapatnam, led by well-known surgeon Dr. Thiagarajan Srinivasan Srinivasan, Senior Consultant and Director of the Director of Institute of Liver Diseases, Transplant and HPB Surgery, on Thursday. Dr. Thiagarajan, an acclaimed liver transplant and HPB (Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary) surgeon, has performed over 1,700 liver transplants, including living donor, deceased donor, and paediatric transplants and over 1,000 advanced HPB surgeries, both open and laparoscopic. His notable achievements include a transplant on a two-month baby after removing a part of the mother's liver, and another transplant on a 78-year-old man in Chennai. Speaking at the launch, Padmanabhan, Cluster 2 Head – MGM Healthcare said: 'An estimated over 20,000 people in Andhra Pradesh suffer from liver cirrhosis. However, fewer than 100 liver transplants are done in AP. The hospital's new liver institute in Vizag, which has a 25-member liver transplantation team aims to bridge the gap. Patients in Visakhapatnam and other parts of the State no longer need to travel to Chennai, Hyderabad or Bengaluru for advanced liver treatments as MGM SevenHills now offers comprehensive liver care and transplantation services locally with global standards.' Dr. Thiagarajan explained the need for increased awareness on liver transplantation and surgeries as thousands of lives can be saved each year from conditions such as liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, acute liver failure, colorectal liver metastasis, gall bladder cancer and bile duct cancer. He added that eligible patients in Andhra Pradesh could get financial support up to ₹10 lakh per transplant under the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Replying to media queries, Dr. Thiagarajan said that alcoholism, hepatitis B and jaundice are among the high-risk factors for liver diseases.
