Shreveport Second Line Brass Band, parade
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC) is hosting a second line street parade led by the Shreveport Second Line Brass Band, bringing New Orleans vibes and African roots.
On Thursday, June 12, SRAC invites the community to dance, clap and celebrate the 'Rhythm of LouisiAfrica' at 11:30 a.m.
Led by bandleader Robert Trudeau, the session features:
a second line parade
An interactive 'Iko Iko' rhythm workshop
Stories from their years playing for graduations at LSUS, Centenary & LSU School of Allied Health
SRAC details that the free event begins at 11:30 a.m. and is located at 869 Texas Avenue, Shreveport.
If you miss the second line parade, there are other upcoming summer events at Caddo Common Park, including the Phoenix Art Explosion on June 28 and the All Around the World event scheduled for July 26, 2025.

Boulder to celebrate Juneteenth on Monday
DENVER (KDVR) — The City of Boulder will hold a flag-raising ceremony to celebrate Juneteenth on Monday, June 16, at the Penfield Tate II Municipal Building at 3 p.m. The city's Juneteenth event will also include live entertainment from reggae, world and African music group Selasee & The FaFa Family, free ice cream and remarks from local leaders, including representatives from the city and Boulder City Council, among others. Zach Bryan announces unplanned show at Red Rocks with $50 tickets Juneteenth is a celebration of the end of slavery in the United States, the day Union soldiers freed the final enslaved people from Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865. 'Juneteenth offers an important opportunity for our community to come together in reflection of our shared history,' said Equity and Belonging Officer Aimee Kane, in a statement. 'The city is honored to participate in the events that pay tribute to and celebrate the countless contributions of Black people to our country and community.' Juneteenth was recognized as a federal holiday in 2021. The city said its three recreation centers will be open for their normal operating hours on June 19, while Open Space and Mountain Park trails will be open. All Age Well Centers will be closed. Ball Arena owner buys River Mile development area including Meow Wolf, Elitch Gardens Parking will be free on city streets on the holiday in all city-owned lots and downtown garages, with paid parking in effect at/near Chautauqua Park. The free Park-to-Park shuttle to Chautauqua will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The city said Juneteenth celebrations will take place from June 16-19. SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Addison Rae is picking up a whisk and making major reveals on life in Louisiana. The 'Diet Pepsi' singer and TikTok star joined longtime friend Quen Blackwell to cook alligator bites in the latest episode of Feeding Starving Celebrities on YouTube. Sharing southern roots, the pair discussed life before moving to California, Addison Rae sharing that moving to Los Angeles gave her a new perspective on life. Expressing that before the move, she felt as if she did not have much purpose, using her free time to pretend to be a member of the band One Direction. 'I would try to find the usernames of the [One Direction] members like that, and then I would follow people so they would think it was them. I was so bored,' But for Quen, the southern charm was never far, sharing that every time she visited Addison's house, she felt as if she were back in the south. 'I miss coming over to your house when your whole family was there, all the food was so good. It felt like Addison had a little Southern home in the middle of LA craziness, it was everything.' Reflecting on those memories, Addison shared how she has evolved in her journey and revealed a major change for her future 'I think I've grown past just being called Addison Rae. Naming the album 'Addison' was a way to tie everything together.' Addison says that after the album, she will return to being just Addison. 'It's going back to the roots, really.'
