Shakira's Fenway Park concerts cancelled just hours before showtime

Time of Indiaa day ago

This week's highly anticipated concerts at Boston's iconic Fenway Park—featuring
Shakira
, Jason Aldean, and Brooks & Dunn—have been abruptly cancelled just hours before the first show was set to begin.
The official Fenway Concerts account announced the news via X and Instagram, citing "unforeseen circumstances" as the reason for scrapping Shakira's May 29 show and Aldean and Brooks & Dunn's May 30 performance.
Refunds are being offered to ticket holders at their original point of purchase.
While no official explanation has been issued publicly, People reports that Boston Inspectional Services shut down the shows due to structural concerns.
'During a routine pre-show check, structural elements were found to be below safety standards,' a source revealed, adding that all crew members remained unharmed. Online speculation pointed to problems with stage construction, with one commenter claiming the stage roof buckled while attempting to support a large screen.
Shakira had already arrived in Boston and posted a warm greeting to fans on Instagram Stories, thanking the city for the sweet welcome she received—complete with a hotel room decked out with macaroons and photos.

Jason Aldean also acknowledged the cancellation by reposting Fenway Park's announcement to his Instagram Stories. Meanwhile, frustrated concertgoers flooded social media demanding transparency. 'Someone's gotta say something about what happened at least,' a fan commented on Aldean's unrelated post.
The last-minute cancellation has left thousands of ticketholders with unanswered questions—and hopes for rescheduled performances remain uncertain.

More than two decades after its release, Sarfarosh remains a cult favourite — not just for its gripping storyline but also for its memorable music and performances. Recently, actress Sonali Bendre took a nostalgic trip down memory lane, recounting what went into filming the soulful track Jo Haal Dil Ka alongside Aamir Khan — including battling freezing temperatures, real rain, and some unexpected hacks to stay warm on set. While reflecting on a photo with Aamir from the sets of Sarfarosh, Sonali recalled, in a chat with Bollywood Bubble, how her wardrobe choices subtly influenced Aamir's looks in the film. She credited designer Ashlee, who along with director John and cinematographer Matthew, carefully planned the visuals. Given the film's intense and serious tone, Sonali considered herself the comic relief, often joking about it during the shoot. As a fun detail, she mentioned that Aamir would wear shirts matching the color of her outfits throughout the film. Sonali Bendre reflected on the memorable colour coordination in one of Sarfarosh's songs, calling it a visually striking sequence with beautiful beats composed by Raju. A group of Indian travellers transformed Paris's iconic Eiffel Tower into an impromptu Bollywood concert spot. Captivating passersby, they performed the classic Hindi song Aaja Sanam Madhur Chandni Mein, a romantic melody from the 1951 film Chori Chori, originally sung by legends Lata Mangeshkar and Manna Dey. The beautifully shot video captures the trio singing in perfect harmony near the Eiffel Tower, with spectators, many of them tourists from around the world, enjoying the soulful performance. Some are seen clapping along and swaying to the tune. This enchanting blend of classic Indian music against the stunning Parisian backdrop created a magical atmosphere that resonated deeply with viewers. The video's caption read, 'Every tourist enjoyed Indian song with us at the Eiffel Tower, Paris, France." It quickly went viral, earning praise for the group's spontaneous and heartwarming musical tribute. Indian music has often bridged cultural and language divisions, with people across nations appreciating it. Weeks back, Deanna Leigh, a 23-year-old travel vlogger from the United Kingdom, posted a hilarious video on Instagram about how she unexpectedly fell in love with India's 'Swach Bharat" jingle. She said, 'I heard it all the time in Jodhpur. I thought it was just a fun song people sang every morning." Deanna had no idea that the catchy tune blaring from loudspeakers was a call to take out the trash. She said, 'I didn't know. I just thought it was a cheerful morning tune." Sharing her opinion, Deanna wrote, 'My new favourite song in India! At one point, this was all I would hear in the mornings. I had no clue what it meant… but damn, what a banger!" In the video, a garbage truck is shown rolling down the street while playing charming music, leaving Deanna both amazed and fascinated. Prasoon Joshi wrote the song Swachh Bharat Ka Irada, which was sung by Kailash Kher. First Published:

Lucknow dastango duo at Prez house recounts lore of Ahilyabai, who refused Sati to serve masses

Lucknow: In a proud moment for Lucknow, two renowned Dastangoi storytellers from the city, Himanshu Bajpai and Pragya Sharma, got opportunity to narrate the life and glory of Ahilyabai Holkar, queen of Indore, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. In the two-day event (May 29-30) that marked 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar, Himanshu and Pragya narrated 'Dastan-e-Ahilya', organised by Union ministry of culture and Sahitya Akademi. Inaugurated by President Draupadi Murmu, the event was themed 'How much has literature changed'. The duo began with the incident of Raghoba's wife, Anandi Bai, sending her maid to discover secret of Ahilyabai's popularity. The maid tells her that Ahilyabai lives a an austere life, with neither jewellery, nor any ostentation, but is famous because of her great thinking and welfare of common people. How Ahilyabai meets Malhar Rao Holkar, becoming daughter-in-law of the Holkar dynasty and then becomes a widow was narrated along with the highpoint of the legend in which she stops herself from performing Sati (jumping into her husband's funeral pyre) for the sake of her subjects and instead, devotes herself to public welfare. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like They Lost Their Money - Learn From Their Lesson Expertinspector Click Here Undo The queen was famous for her fairplay and trait of upholding justice at any cost. She sentenced her son Male Rao to death because he had killed a calf by crushing it under his chariot. The storytellers recounted that Ahilyabai was not only devout but a warrior too. She defeated Chandrawat of Rampura thrice. The last section of the narration describes how when Ahilyabai died, a large number of people gathered in Maheshwar. Due to her contribution to the masses, Ahilyabai was termed a goddess while she was alive. Previously, in 2020, Himanshu had the opportunity to narrate the Kakori Conspiracy episode at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Among the listeners were Sahitya Akademi president Madhav Kaushik, secretary Srinivas Rao, poets Arun Kamal, Ashok Chakradhar, Lakshmi Shankar Bajpai and Rajshekhar Vyas.
