David Gray: Hibernian will be fully prepared for Partizan Belgrade tie
The Hibees suffered an agonising 3-2 aggregate defeat in their Europa League second qualifying round tie against Midtjylland after the Danes struck the decisive goal in the 29th minute of extra-time in Thursday's second leg.
Gray's side now parachute into the Conference League third qualifying round, where they will face Partizan in the Serbian capital next Thursday.
'We'll do everything we can to make it as easy as possible for the players,' the manager said of their gruelling start to the campaign. 'The one thing you want to always do is you want to make sure they're going into it as fresh as you can. The Belgrade game will take care of itself by the time we get to that.
'The plans will go in place to make sure we can get there the easiest way, the quickest way, that you stay over, all these things that come with that. You travel a day early, but that will all take care of itself. Everything is geared up now towards Dundee.
'We'll make sure we get everybody clear with the game-plan ready to go up there to make sure we try and win the game. Then we'll look forward to Thursday night in Europe again, which naturally the players will all be ready for.'
Hibs found out a week past Monday that Partizan were a possible opponent if they lost their Europa League qualifier and now that scenario has been confirmed, Gray and his backroom staff will ratchet up their preparations.
'I think you're always looking at potential things you could face,' he said when asked if he had spent much time studying the Serbs. 'You have an eye across everything.
'The players aren't aware of any of that yet, that's the whole point of your analysis department. As coaches, we're always preparing for what the possible outcomes could be.'
Hibs' squad could look different by the time they head to Serbia, with Scotland defender Grant Hanley and former Clermont midfielder Yohann Magnin on their radar and defender Lewis Miller reportedly close to joining Blackburn.
Gray believes his players will have benefited from the way they stood up to Midtjylland over two legs.
'We were still not at our absolute best, we can still improve in certain situations,' he said. 'But Midtjylland are a big, strong, powerful side and we defended them incredibly well.
'It's great for the players to test themselves against elite-level opposition. They were a Champions League team last season for a reason, they've got top, top players, and it's great for our players to feel that.'

Celtic and Rangers make huge Premiership fixture postponement decision for Champions League play offs
The matchweek three schedule has been confirmed but it comes with two huge caveats Hibs and Rangers have seen requests granted to postpone their matchweek three fixtures if they progress in Europe as part of a new policy to aid our clubs in their Euro campaigns. But Celtic have decided against having their game with Livingston, sandwiched in between their Champions League playoff with either Slovan Bratislava or Kairat Almaty, pushed back. The SPFL finalised the schedule for the weekend of August 23/24, with St Mirren vs Rangers moved to the Sunday noon slot for Sky coverage, after Falkirk vs Hibs was previously picked up for the Saturday teatime game on Premier Sports. But it comes with the caveat that both of those games will be postponed until later in the season should the clubs involved take part in European action that week. Rangers face Viktoria Plzen at Ibrox tonight before a second leg in the Czech Republic next week and, should they progress, they will be involved in playoffs on August 19/20 and August 26/27 – either side of their scheduled clash with St Mirren. The same goes for Hibs who, if they can make it past Partizan Belgrade, will face Legia Warsaw or AEK Larnaca on August 21 and August 28. Celtic are also in action against Livingston on Saturday August 23 with Champions League playoffs either side but have not requested a postponement under the new policy. "As previously confirmed, Dundee United v Aberdeen on Saturday August 23 has been postponed following a request by Aberdeen, who will be participating in the Europa League play-offs. "The new policy, which allows clubs involved in UEFA play-off matches to postpone their round three fixtures, was approved by the SPFL Board in April to support clubs aiming to reach the league phase of UEFA competitions. "Falkirk v Hibernian was selected by Premier Sports for live broadcast on Saturday August 23, kick-off 5.45pm, but, as earlier announced, following a request from Hibernian will also be postponed if they overcome FK Partizan to reach the Conference League play-off round. "St Mirren v Rangers has been selected for live coverage on Sky Sports on Sunday August 24, kick-off 12 noon, but following a request from Rangers will be postponed if they reach the play-off round of the Champions League. Celtic pass up SPFL postponement as Rangers and others use new rule
Celtic have decided not to utilise a new SPFL rule to allow them to postpone a league match ahead of a crucial European tie – but other Premiership sides will move games between play-off matches. The league introduced a new ruling this season to offer clubs flexibility in their attempts to reach the league phase of UEFA competitions. Premiership sides can postpone one league match from round three if they reach the play-off stage of the Champions League, Europa League or Conference League. The postponement would give the teams a full week free between the first and second leg of their crucial European ties. Dundee United's home game against Aberdeen on Saturday, August 23 has been postponed following a request by Aberdeen, who will be participating in the Europa League play-offs. United could also be in a play-off if they defeat Rapid Vienna in their Conference League third qualifying round tie. Hibernian have already informed the SPFL that they wish to postpone their away game against Falkirk if they progress past Partizan Belgrade in the Conference League, while Rangers' match at St Mirren, which had been moved for Sky coverage to Sunday August 24, will also be off if the Ibrox club get to the Champions League play-off. However, the league have said that following discussions with Celtic, their home match versus Livingston remains scheduled for 3.00pm on Saturday August 23. No reason has been given for Celtic's decision but with the Scottish champions not having played any previous qualifiers, manager Brendan Rodgers may want players to have more game time early in the season.
