LeBron James may have just signed what could be his final NBA contract, but judging by his latest Instagram post, retirement stress isn't weighing him down, at least not on the golf course.
The 40-year-old Lakers star opted into his $52.6 million player option for the 2025–26 season, marking his record-setting 23rd year in the league. With trade rumors swirling and his wife Savannah reportedly nudging him toward retirement, fans are watching every move.
But on Friday, James gave fans something unexpected, in short: a golf video.
And it went viral for exactly the reason you'd expect.

The clip, posted on his Instagram account (@kingjames), had him teeing off at an undisclosed sunny course, cigar in mouth, dressed in a striped shirt and shorts plus a golf cap.
Talk about his swing? Just say it drew comparisons to Charles Barkley's famously awkward form. "Day 2 of officially trying this out!" James wrote in the caption. "Boy o Boy it's a mind f**k to say the least! But I think I enjoy that part of it a lot! Haha!"
He tagged friends and joked about Slide 4 being "so funny," where his swing nearly missed the ball entirely.
The video quickly went viral on social media, making fans flood the comments with hilarious jabs from the golf world, including professionals.
PGA of America commented, "Uh oh, somebody is getting addicted to golf 😂," followed by another comment saying, "Swing looks good, LeBron. We got you on the lessons when you're ready 🤝."
PGA Tour winner Min Woo Lee too couldn't control himself and joked, "Come a long way since the topgolf video 😂"
If all this was not enough, James' NBA buddy Kevin Love too joined fans mocking the wide-open fairway. "Who created that course... Moses?," he posted.
But not all reactions were teasing. Stephen Curry, a known golf enthusiast, welcomed LeBron with a warm six-word message, "Welcome. We've been waiting for you."
Even the LAGC team from Tiger Woods's TGL also chimed in, typing, "A swing worthy of the 👑," followed by: "@kingjames we can't wait for this new journey!"
LeBron isn't the only NBA legend turning to golf in the offseason. Just last week, Michael Jordan went viral for trash-talking NFL legend Lawrence Taylor on the greens.
"You really been on a motherf**king relaxation since retirement!" Jordan joked, pointing at Taylor's slip-ons. The clip had fans in stitches and reminded everyone that golf is the go-to sport for retired greatness.
Other stars like Steph Curry, Dwyane Wade, and Klay Thompson have long embraced the game. Curry even won the 2023 American Century Championship and continues to promote youth golf through his Underrated Golf Tour.

Diogo Jota was an inspiration and special tribute by Liverpool academy starlets prove it

Diogo Jota was an inspiration and special tribute by Liverpool academy starlets prove it It's still difficult to comprehend Diogo Jota is no longer with us. That he'll not be coming to pre-season and we'll never see him at Anfield ever again. The gravity of death is so final. It is that which hurts the most. Advertisement A tragedy has taken away Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, not just from us but from their colleagues, their friends, their teammates and most importantly their family. For them, this pain will be unbearable. We simply cannot imagine what they must be feeling at this time. The most important thing we can do is to give them the privacy to mourn their loss in their own space and environment without any intrusion. As a club, Liverpool will come together. We will remember and honour Jota's legacy. He was a special player but even more so he was a special man. Someone who helped out the community and who was an inspiration to us all. Advertisement A boy from Gondomar, who was never supposed to make it in professional football, let alone reach the heights of the Premier League and become a champion at Liverpool. Jota's journey from the bottom to the very pinnacle of the game is something that will and has inspired many young and aspiring footballers. He was the ultimate testament to what a professional footballer should be. To show you the kind of many that he was, you only have to see the video Jota recorded at an event called BOSS KIDS to celebrate Liverpool's 20th Premier League title triumph. The event thrown for young Liverpool supporters was made even special by an appearance of a pre-recorded video from Jota himself. Advertisement 'Hello everyone at BOSS KIDS!' his message, introduced by singer Jamie Webster at the family event at the Exhibition Centre started. 'I heard my song was the most voted for the best song of all of the players. I personally agree with that! 'So perhaps Jamie can sing it for you guys and you can sing it extra loud. We are champions!' The fact that he took time out of his day just to make young Liverpool supporters feel special goes to show the kind of man that he was. Now in his death, Liverpool's young players have paid a fitting and touching tribute to the Liverpool forward. Some of the club's academy players visited Anfield to leave flowers for the Portuguese international in a video shared by 433 from the Instagram account: @romandimine_ as shown above. Advertisement The message left on the flowers read: "May your souls continue to rest in perfect peace, Jota and Andre. Sending our condolences to your family, Liverpool U12s."

3 things to look for as the Philadelphia 76ers begin the summer league

The Philadelphia 76ers will begin the summer league on Saturday when they take on the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City. They will play three games in Utah before heading to Las Vegas on July 10 to play at least five games out there. The Sixers will be looking to see what they have in their younger pieces. The final score doesn't matter much in summer league--although there are the summer league playoffs in Vegas for those who care--as it is all about development and growth. It allows the rookies to make a good first impression and allows the second-year players to take steps forward in their respective games. Advertisement As the Sixers begin play in Utah, here are three things to look for throughout the summer league: VJ Edgecombe as a point guard Mar 13, 2025; Kansas City, MO, USA; Baylor Bears guard VJ Edgecombe (7) drives to the basket around Texas Tech Red Raiders guard Elijah Hawkins (3) during the second half at T-Mobile Center. Mandatory Credit: William Purnell-Imagn Images Edgecombe is more of a shooting guard, but versatility is a huge part of today's NBA, and if the Sixers can develop him into a ball-handler, then that changes things in the backcourt. Philadelphia is all about the growth of the youngsters at the moment, and Edgecombe taking steps forward as a ball-handler and playmaker makes things easier for everybody on offense. He has the athleticism to get by any defender and a real pop when he rises up to the basket so the Sixers want to take advantage of that by putting the ball in his hands. Adem Bona shooting 3s Oct 16, 2024; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; Philadelphia 76ers center Adem Bona (30) in action against the Brooklyn Nets during the fourth quarter at Wells Fargo Center. Mandatory Credit: Bill Streicher-Imagn Images Bona was seen working on his 3-point shot while at summer league practice and is looking to grow as a player. When considering this is the summer league, it would behoove the Sixers to look into growing Bona as a player who can knock down looks in the corner. He is a tireless worker who is looking to expand his game and the summer league is the perfect time to let him fire it up without any fear of being sent to the bench or anything like that. The Sixers need help on the frontline and will be looking to Bona to take that next step. Adding this aspect of his game would be a big help. Johni Broome at power forward Feb 11, 2025; Nashville, Tennessee, USA; Auburn Tigers forward Johni Broome (4) dunks the ball against the Vanderbilt Commodores during the second half at Memorial Gymnasium. Mandatory Credit: Steve Roberts-Imagn Images The Sixers selected Broome with the No. 35 pick in the 2025 NBA draft and some question what his true position really is. Some believe he is an undersized center due to a lack of quickness to play the 4 while most believe he can play the power forward spot due to his soft touch on the offensive end and his high basketball IQ. The Sixers will experiment with him at both big man spots and see what he can do. Either way, Broome should be closer to the basket due to his high offensive rebounding rates and how he can create many extra possessions for Philadelphia. That will be a big development.
