Man Utd legend slams Marcus Rashford over 'soul-destroying' character
Marcus Rashford is one player who is looking to leave, with the Englishman hoping for a move to Barcelona.
Rashford, who spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Aston Villa, has been told he doesn't have a place with United anymore.
The winger has been training away from the first team, and his character is now being questioned by a United legend, Teddy Sheringham.
What did Sheringham say about Rashford?
Sheringham spoke to Sky Sports about Rashford's transfer situation and said, "If you assess where Marcus Rashford is at, as a professional footballer, you strive as a youngster to get to the very top and play for clubs like Manchester United, and when you're there you appreciate it.
"You don't throw it away and say you want to leave."

Rashford has spoken about his future, saying it's his dream to play for Barcelona, who happen to be in the market for a left winger.
Sheringham continued, "I find the whole episode very soul-destroying, compared to the way I was back in the day and how I strove to get the privilege to play for such a huge football club.
Sheringham likened Rashford's statement to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's desire to leave Arsenal.
The former player concluded, saying, "I hope Rashford doesn't get the move that he's hankering for.
"From my perspective, if you go from Manchester United to Barcelona, that's a step up that he hasn't deserved."

Atalanta would accept bids worth €40 million for Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid target Ademola Lookman, but only from clubs outside Serie A. This via Italian outlet FCInterNews. La Dea will not, however, accept a bid of that size from Inter. Yesterday, Inter Milan really made their move for Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman. The Nerazzurri made an offer worth €40 million. They offered Atalanta a loan containing a purchase obligation, which would be at that fee. However, La Dea have rejected that first bid from Inter. They want a higher fee, with reports suggesting that they could hold out for €50 million. Atalanta Would Accept €40M Bids For Ademola Lookman – But Only From Outside Serie A However, Atalanta would reportedly accept offers of €40 million for Ademola Lookman. Just not from clubs in Serie A. The Bergamo-based club would, however, be ready to sell the Nigerian international for around that fee, if it is to a club abroad. Atletico Madrid are also keen to sign Lookman. Therefore, Atalanta are reportedly hoping to sell the 27-year-old to the Colchoneros instead. Their preference is to sell to a club abroad. Therefore, Atletico could have a boost over Inter to try and sign Lookman.

Ryder Cup stars make move as Harman sets Open pace
European Ryder Cup stars made significant moves early on the second day of the 2025 Open but were unable to match the progress of former champion Brian Harman. The American resurrected memories of his run to claim the 2023 Open with a bogey-free six-under 65 to reach eight under in benign conditions at Royal Portrush. England's Tyrrell Hatton and Robert MacIntyre of Scotland - who both contended in last month's US Open - are his closest challengers on five under, alongside Denmark's Ryder Cup hopeful Rasmus Hojgaard. Hatton revealed his pre-Open preparation was an evening round with friends at a nearby pitch and putt course, followed by three pints of a local stout. When asked if he would repeat the drinks after Friday's round, he replied: "Be rude not to. I think three's the magic number." World number two Rory McIlroy was again wayward off the tee as he scrambled to a 69 to remain in contention on three under. He is on the same mark as US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley, who continues to play to a level that brings into question what his role will be for the match against Europe at Bethpage Black in September. Matt Fitzpatrick - one of the joint overnight leaders on four under - is among the later starters, as is world number one Scottie Scheffler, who resumed on three under as rain started to lash down on the Antrim coast. Harman taking a 'boring approach' Harman was dubbed "the butcher of Hoylake" during his relentless march to the title at Royal Liverpool two years ago as a result of his propensity to slay and eat big game. He dissected one of the world's toughest courses on Friday, with three birdies in his opening seven holes and three more on the back nine including a six-footer on the last to put daylight between him and the chasing pack. His charge echoed his performance on the Wirral coast in 2023, when he also shot a second-round 65 to move five clear of the field. Whether he will remain top of the second-round leaderboard at the close of play may largely depend on whether the rain continues to fall heavily and make life difficult for the later starters. In contrast, Harman was able to compile his round in largely dry and calm conditions. His trademark accurate approach play was the cornerstone of his round, with the longest of his six birdie putts being from 15 feet. "I'll try to approach the weekend in the same way as I did in 2023," he said. "The only thing I'm worried about is the first tee ball, and then I'll try to hit the next one up there close to the flag. If not, go to the second hole. "It's a very boring approach that I take." 'I'm not going to back away' MacIntyre, one of a record eight left-handers in this year's Open field, made the biggest move of the European contingent. His 66 featured six birdies, with his only dropped shot coming on the exacting par-three 16th. However, the world number 14 atoned for that bogey by knocking in a 20-foot putt from the edge of the 17th green for a birdie. That lifted the Scot to the same score as Hatton, who was his usual animated self as he mixed four birdies with two bogeys in his 69. "I'm in a good spot," said MacIntyre, who finished runner-up to JJ Spaun at the US Open, with Hatton tied fourth. "I'm not scared. I'm not going to back away. If I've got a chance, I'm going to roll the dice. I've got so much more confidence and so much more belief that I am good enough." The torrential rain arrived with McIlroy on the 18th green but he retained his composure to finish with a solid par, while his Ryder Cup team-mate Ludvig Aberg missed a tiddler for birdie on the last to end on two under. English pair Justin Rose and Harry Hall are also at two under. After a bogey-free opening, Rose dropped his first shot of the championship on the par-three sixth. He dropped three more shots on the 11th after losing a ball in a bush but two birdies limited the damage as he signed for a 71. In-form Hall, who is emerging as a surprise contender for Luke Donald's European team, made seven birdies and three bogeys in a 67. McIlroy's playing partner Tommy Fleetwood started quickly with four birdies in his opening seven holes to improve to two under. His only bogey, at the 18th, saw him post a 68 for a one-under total that will mean the 2019 runner-up will be at Portrush for the weekend. The top 70 and ties at the end of round two will play the final two rounds. More to follow.

Sky journalist reveals the next EPL star Man United will look to sign after Mbeumo
Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson now that they have seemingly reached the finish line for Bryan Mbeumo. After more than a month of ongoing talks, the Red Devils have finally found an agreement with Brentford for the 25-year-old Cameroonian winger, and the cost of the operation could reach £71 million. Mbeumo would be the second major signing of the summer for Man Utd who have already acquired the services of Matheus Cunha. As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on Friday afternoon, INEOS will now turn their attention towards a new striker who can complete the attacking trident, one who can prove to be an upgrade on Rasmus Hojlund. Man Utd set sights on Nicolas Jackson (Photo by) While the Italian journalist didn't mention any potential candidates in his latest update, he had already named Jackson as a profile liked by Man Utd earlier this week. MUFC's interest in the Chelsea star has now been further confirmed, as Sky Sport DE journalist Florian Plettenberg has identified him as one of the profiles on the club's shortlist. The German transfer market expert insists that United are also monitoring other profiles, and they have yet to make progress in their attempts to land Jackson. However, he believes that this is a track worth keeping an eye on in the coming days and weeks. Jackson one of names on United's shortlist Plettenberg adds that Jackson's Stamford Bridge departure is a possibility this summer, despite being tied to the Blues with a contract running until the summer of 2033. The former Villarreal star signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2023 on a deal worth circa £33 million. He has thus far made 81 appearances for the West Londoners, scoring 30 goals and providing 12 assists in the process. However, the versatile striker has been criticised for his knack of wasting sitters, and he could lose his starting berth following the arrival of Liam Delap, who snubbed Man Utd in favour of joining Enzo Marseca's side.
