What to expect on Netflix thanks to Harry and Meghan's new deal

Harry and Meghan have given the streaming giant first options on their output from Archewell Productions.
Here is what to expect from the couple on Netflix in the coming months:
– With Love, Meghan – Season 2
The second instalment of Meghan's lifestyle show will debut later in August.
Netflix said: 'Meghan returns with a fun and heartwarming new season, welcoming celebrity chefs, talented artists, and beloved friends for hands-on adventures filled with laughter and discovery.'
A post shared by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (@meghan)
It promises 'playful cooking challenges' and 'DIY projects', adding: 'Meghan and her guests explore bold flavours, experiment with new techniques, and discover simple ways to add beauty to everyday life.'
The show, Netflix says, is 'all about embracing playfulness over perfection and finding joy in creating together'.
Season one was not, however, well received by critics and the show has a 3.2 rating out of 10 on imdb.com.
– With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration
The special holiday episode of With Love, Meghan will air in December.
Netflix invites viewers to 'join Meghan in Montecito for a magical holiday celebration'.
It adds: 'Together, friends and family deck the halls, create holiday feasts, craft heartfelt gifts, and share lots of laughs – with simple how-tos to follow at home.
'It's a holiday wonder with warmth, tradition, and a generous dose of joy.'
The Sussexes used to spend Christmas with the royal family at Sandringham but Harry and Meghan, who moved to the US five years ago, last did so in 2018.
Harry is estranged from his brother the Prince of Wales after a bitter fallout and has a troubled relationship with his father the King.
– Meet Me At The Lake
The 'romance feature' is an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Carley Fortune.
'This romantic drama follows a decade-spanning love story that begins with a chance encounter and a broken promise,' Netflix says.
A post shared by Carley Fortune (@carleyfortune)
No date has been announced for the project – news of which first emerged two years ago.
The story deals with mental health, postnatal depression and childhood trauma over losing a parent in a car crash, with some of the themes said to have similarities with Harry and Meghan's own experience.
– Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within
The new documentary short, by Campfire Studios in Association with Wontanara Productions and Archewell Productions, will focus on a tiny orphanage in Uganda which was borne out of the HIV/Aids crisis.
Harry and Meghan are listed among the producers and the documentary will be released later this year.
The duke only recently stepped down from Sentebale, the charity he founded nearly 20 years ago to help children orphaned by Aids in Lesotho, following a boardroom battle with its chairwoman.
Harry, who was left devastated by the development and who is considering starting a new humanitarian charity, vowed to continue his commitment to supporting youngsters in the region.
Netflix says: 'In the heart of Uganda's Masaka region, where the shadows of the HIV/Aids crisis linger, a small orphanage becomes a beacon of hope.
'Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within goes beyond the viral videos to reveal a vibrant, one-of-a-kind community where orphaned children transform hardship into joy, dancing their way toward healing, belonging, and the promise of a brighter future.'
It is not known whether Harry and Meghan will feature in the documentary.
– Future projects
Archewell Productions says it is 'in active development on additional projects with Netflix that span a variety of content genres'.
The Sussexes' contract has been described as a 'multi-year, first look deal for film and television projects'.

Bizarre Christmas attractions in the UK that you can visit NOW – from sleigh rides to a festive hotel room

WE are barely through summer and some locations are already looking to Christmas - including year-round spots. Cold winter days and merry jingles seem like a distant memory, but for some destinations across the UK, the holiday season has already arrived. 4 Chessington's Christmas room Missing your festive fix? Then stay at Chessington World of Adventures' year-round Christmas bedroom. Full of twinkling lights, garlands and even a perfectly decorated tree, Chessington's Christmas gets guests into the festive spirit no matter the time of year. There are Christmas mugs in the room as well, to have marshmallow-loaded hot chocolate in. While the room is all things Christmas you can switch seasons with a dip in the hotel's Savannah Splash Pool. The room starts from £77 per person, based on a family of four sharing. If you are feeling extra festive, you can arrange to have an Elf Wake-up Call or Reindeer Encounter too. Santa's Sleigh Ride, Sundown Adventureland Sundown Adventureland markets itself as "the theme park for the under 10s". And while the theme park does have numerous non-festive themed rides, it is also "Christmas every day at Sundown" as the attraction has a year-round sleigh ride. Santa's Magical Sleigh Ride travels through a winter wonderland and has appearances from a number of Santa's helpers like Mrs Claus, Rudolph and dancing snowmen. I visited Lapland's Santa Claus Village in the summer — turns out Santa's not just for Christmas Those on the ride are taken through several rooms, including a quirky house set up where you see woodland animals preparing for the big day cooking and wrapping presents. There is even a reindeer sat in bed and a toy store advent calendar, with doors opening and closing as visitors slide by in the sleigh. Harrods Christmas Store For many festive fans, shopping for Christmas decorations and presents is a day out activity. And some keen holiday lovers will head to specific destinations for this. One such location is the Harrods Christmas Store, which opened last month - yes, in July. Located near the books, Harrods' Christmas World features new decorations including highland cow baubles and jewelled peach decorations. 4 There is even a hair oil bauble full of pink glittering liquid. Several bloggers and vloggers have already headed to the store to document this year's offering, with one view having already racked up 114,000 views. And you can even purchase a nutcracker for £2,539... Bridmas, East Yorkshire The picturesque seaside town of Bridlington in East Yorkshire hosts an annual event called Bridmas. The Christmas-themed festival features a load of Christmas crafts, food, live music and even a panto dame - all in the peak of summer. The event aims to show that the town is more than just a summer staycation spot, and actually features year-round attractions. Bridmas only lasts for one day and includes showings of classic Christmas movies like Home Alone, a 'Santa Express' land train and festive-themed beach games. The event took place on August 6, so if you want to go - you will need to wait until next year. Biggest Loser contestant says they 'died that day' after extreme challenge on beach

Dramatic shows footage of how contestant's nearly ended in Netflix documentary A former contestant on The Biggest Loser says they 'died that day' after attempting an extreme challenge. ‌ A new docuseries on Netflix, streaming from today (August 15) called Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser takes an inside look at the making of the hit reality TV competition that ran for 18 seasons beginning in 2004 and finishing in 2016. Although there was an attempted revival back in 2020. ‌ The three-part series explores the good, the bad, and the complicated during the show's lifespan. It features interviews with former contestants, producers, health professionals and trainers like Bob Harper who were involved in making the show. ‌ It examines the show's approach to transformation, the support systems in place, and the unique challenges of filming reality television. Many of those involved reflect back on what it was like to make the show, what it meant for them at the time and how they view it all today. Tracey Yukich appears in the documentary to talk about her experiences as a contestant. Tracey featured in season eight and says it was life changing. However, that is not simply because she was just able to lose weight. During one particular extreme challenge set up by the show's producers, she says she had a near death experience. For the participant's first major mission that year, they were transported away from the ranch that they spent majority of their time in to a beach front location. Crews were filming them from helicopters as well as on the ground. A mile-long course had been set up along the beach to test each of the new contestants before they had even really started their new exercise regimes. Tracey struggled and collapsed. ‌ Footage is shown of the dramatic moment on the show, where there is serious concern by fellow contestants. The medical team rush onto the scene and they are heard several times exclaiming Tracey is unresponsive. Describing what happened for the documentary, Tracey says: "I'm running, and my legs feel really heavy. Like lead. What's happening right then is my body's starting to shut down. I might not make it. But I told myself 'I'm gonna do it' because I wanted to change my life." Tracey is then seen on the show, unable to walk and struggling to speak as she begins to crawl towards the finish line. Other contestants then come over to try and help her. However, as they do and cheer for her, she collapses. ‌ "I don't remember a lot," Tracey says, "I remember hearing the helicopter. I just felt like I was floating. And then my grandpa was there. And then I saw darkness. But then I saw light. So I knew, I knew I died that day." At the time of filming, it was believed Tracey suffered heat stroke. However, she has since explained it was rhabdomyolysis, a potentially life threatening muscle injury. ‌ "My organs were literally shutting down. I didn't realise that I had rhabdomyolysis. And rhabdomyolysis is your body's way of saying 'I'm going to shut down on you'. It started with my liver, then it was in my kidneys and then it goes to your heart. And that's where I almost died." Tracey says that she was unable to get out of bed to go to the bathroom herself and could still feel grit and sand in her fingernails. Doctors warned her that they may need to perform drastic surgery to aid her recovery. She also acknowledges that only the show's medical advisor Dr Robert Huizenga understood how sick she was. Dr Huizenga also tells the documentary that the show did not inform him of the challenge Tracey and the rest of the contestants were undertaking. Despite what happened, and still feeling physically weak afterwards, Tracey remained on the show. She lasted until week eight, when she was voted off.

Thursday Murder Club's Celia Imrie pays tribute to 'exceptional' co-stars

The film follows a group of retirees-turned-amateur sleuths as they attempt to investigate a real life murder. ‌ Renowned actress Celia Imrie plays Joyce, a newcomer to Coopers Chase retirement village, who has been recently widowed. People are drawn to her kind, warm and thoughtful nature - qualities that actress Imrie noticed in other cast members on set. ‌ Her castmates included the likes of Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and Ben Kingsley. "But it is the way we become a team that I love, and this was an exceptional cast. Truly, I couldn't believe my luck." She also expressed her love for Osman's novel, admitting she "whizzed down to the bookshop" the minute she got the role. "The first book is a constant, lovely reference. I was trying to find little snippets of exactly what Joyce got up to," she shared. "Richard Osman wrote Joyce keeping a diary through her first few days at Coopers Chase. ‌ "Every now and then in the book, I'd find marvellous little details about Joyce's love of particular television programmes - using her napkin at the lunch table because she thinks it makes her look clever - or putting the chairs out at a meeting because she thinks people will like her better." Director Chris Columbus spoke highly of Imrie, branding her "a British treasure". ‌ He shared: "In every film I've seen her in, Celia has managed to steal my heart (and most of the time steal the film). "For 'The Thursday Murder Club', Celia transformed herself into the character of Joyce. "Fans of the book who have seen our film have all said the same thing: 'That is exactly how I pictured Joyce!'" The Thursday Murder Club airs on Netflix on August 28
