‘90 Day Fiancé' star Ben Rathbun dead at 55 after cancer battle

New York Post20-05-2025

The '90 Day Fiancé' community has lost one of its own.

According to the outlet, the former reality star had been battling the disease since the end of 2024.

Rathbun appeared on Season 5 of '90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days,' from December 2021 to April 2022, with his now wife Mahogany Roca.
At the time of his episode, the divorced father of four kids from Michigan was 52 and met the Peruvian native online. Those closest to Rathbun were worried he was being catfished as Roca didn't want to answer any video calls, and there was a 30-year age gap.
Despite their fears, the couple ended up meeting in Peru and later tying the knot.

'Our civil ceremony was just brilliant, I could not believe how beautiful it was,' Rathbun said in February 2024 while on '90 Day Diaries,' according to In Touch. 'But we are still planning on having a religious ceremony.'
However, Rathbun felt he still needed to 'build trust' with Roca.
'We're just going through a really difficult transition. I've gone about six months without a really good job and bills have been piling up, of course,' he revealed. 'Things are extremely tight now and I'm doing everything I can right now to pay all the bills and for my next trip to Peru.'

Before their engagement, Rathbun had run into some trouble with the law.
According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Rathbun was booked in 2020 for operating a vehicle while under the influence, along with driving with a suspended license.
He was sentenced to 18 months of probation in January 2021, but ended up missing a probation violation hearing in February 2022, just months before he proposed, per the outlet.

The TLC star was taken into custody after the judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
'This was my fault because I needed to make sure I was getting all notices, but by the time I found out, it was too late, and I missed my appointment,' Rathbun said in a statement to In Touch at the time. 'So a warrant was issued for my arrest. I immediately drove 14 hours and turned myself in to the court and spent a night in jail.'
Following news of Rathbun's death, many of his '90 Day Fiancé' co-stars shared their condolences beneath a post announcing his death on Instagram.

Rounding out the sad remarks, Tyray Mollett chimed in, 'Damn this is so sad. We never know what someone is going through.'
Rathbun is survived by his four children, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Lisa, and Roca.

Footage of plane wreckage falsely linked to India-Pakistan crisis

"Funeral of Indian fighter jet held in Pakistan. Pakistani people are putting out the fire with sand," reads the Bengali-language caption of a Facebook video posted on May 7, 2025. The video shows the burning wreckage of a crashed fighter jet, with some individuals speaking in Punjabi trying to put out the flames by throwing sand and dirt on it. It was shared as India and Pakistan engaged in four days of intense fighting in the worst violence between the nuclear-armed neighbours in decades. More than 70 people on both sides were killed in the jet fighter, missile, drone and heavy artillery attacks which came to a halt on May 10 after the announcement of a ceasefire (archived link). The conflict was sparked by an attack on tourists by gunmen in Indian-administered Kashmir on April 22 that New Delhi accused Islamabad of backing -- a charge Pakistan denies. The video was also shared alongside similar posts on Facebook and Instagram. The footage, however, does not show a crashed Indian jet during the latest conflict. A reverse image search on Google using keyframes from the falsely shared video led to the same footage posted on Instagram by online news outlet eTimes Pakistan on April 16 (archived link). "A Pakistan Air Force Jet has crashed near Vehari City," reads its caption, referring to a city in Pakistan's Punjab province. Pakistan news outlet Dawn used a still from the video in its report about the crash on April 16 (archived link). According to the Dawn report, the aircraft "was on a training flight but crashed due to some technical fault". AFP previously debunked similar posts that misrepresented visuals from the same crash here, and has debunked other false claims related to the latest India-Pakistan conflict here.

Sydney Sweeney's New Soap Collab Will Be Made With 'Her Actual Bathwater'

Men like Sydney Sweeney. How much do they like her? Well, men's personal hygiene company Dr. Squatch is making a new soap with a secret ingredient: Sydney Sweeney's actual bathwater. For real. 'You kept asking about my bathwater after the @drsquatch ad … so we kept it,' Sweeney (Euphoria, The White Lotus season one) posted to her Instagram account on Thursday. Called 'Sydney's Bathwater Bliss,' the bricc (what Dr. Squatch calls its soap bars) is a 'very real, very limited-edition soap made with my actual bathwater,' Sweeney wrote. More from The Hollywood Reporter Sydney Sweeney, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, Michelle Yeoh Films Sell Wide at Cannes Sydney Sweeney Teases "Unhinged" 'Euphoria' Season 3 Sydney Sweeney, Halsey Get Violent While Hunting Down a Rare Artifact in 'Americana' Trailer Why do this? Well, you know why: because men are gross. So now they can cleanse themselves — well, their skin at least — with saponified oils (of olive, sustainable palm and coconut), shea butter, natural fragrance, Sydney's bath water, sand, mica, kaolin clay and sea salt. God knows what else they'll do with it: Dr. Squatch called Sweeney's bathwater 'one of nature's finest aphrodisiacs.' Don't try to check us on that 'men are gross' thing. First of all, I'm a man and I'm gross. But more relevant here are the multiple stalker fan letters to Dr. Squatch asking for this exact product — and definitely asking for worse things. Here's a relatively tame one: Unfortunately, there's a lot more where that came from; swipe right on the post. Clearly, the personal-care company (and Sweeney, whom Dr. Squatch calls a 'legend' for this) are leaning in. Days ago, the collab was teased by a Dr. Squatch post that read: 'Wanna take a shower with Sydney Sweeney?' Well, come June 6, you can. Sort of. The medium grit bar soap has 'refreshing notes of pine, Douglas fir and earthy moss,' per the manufacturer. Naturally, Dr. Squatch named the scent 'morning wood.' Sydney's Bathwater Bliss is 'a perfect combination of the two best places on the planet: The outdoors and Sydney Sweeney's bathtub,' the company continued. It appears that 100 creeps lucky winners will get a bricc made with Sweeney's actual bathwater. (To win one, you have to be '18+.' This bath soap couldn't get pornier.) The rest of you can buy a bar next week for $8. The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to Dr. Squatch and Sweeney's reps for more info.
