Tiruchy heart of TN, govt invested Rs 26K crore in four years, says CM Stalin

TIRUCHY: Stating that Tiruchy is the heart of Tamil Nadu, and it deserved world-class infrastructure, Chief Minister MK Stalin on Friday said the DMK government has invested over Rs 26,066 crore in several development projects in Tiruchy in the last four years.
Speaking after inaugurating an integrated bus and truck terminal at Panjappur, the chief minister commended Municipal Administration Minister KN Nehru and School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi for their contributions to developing the district and said they exemplified the Dravidian model of governance.
Further, Stalin asserted that Dravidian Model 2.0 is poised to deliver development at 'rocket speed' and vowed continued inclusive progress for all sections of society. He took the opportunity to criticise the previous AIADMK' government, saying it failed to secure Cauvery water rights and supported the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Also, he referred to the anti-Sterlite firing in Thoothukudi, and contrasted it with the DMK government's achievements in education, infrastructure, and social welfare.

YSRCP MLC Varudu Kalyani slams Andhra Pradesh govt on completion of one year, says women betrayed by NDA coalition

Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], June 14 (ANI): Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Women President and MLC Varudu Kalyani slammed the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh as the coalition government completed one year of its rule in the state. She hit out at the government over safety issues, alleging failed promises, and scheme cuts. Speaking at a round table meeting organised today to discuss the impact of one year of NDA coalition rule, YSRCP MLC Varudu Kalyani highlighted several key concerns regarding women's welfare and safety under the current government. She stated, 'This meeting was focused on the welfare of women and the increasing atrocities against women under the NDA coalition government. Many women participants expressed their deep disappointment, saying they had trusted and voted for the coalition parties, only to be betrayed. Not a single major promise made by the current government has been fulfilled, and women's safety has been completely neglected. On average, 70 to 80 cases of atrocities against women are being reported every day in Andhra Pradesh. This alone reflects the deteriorating condition of law and order in the state.' She further added, 'In the last one year, the coalition government hasn't even conducted a single review on women's safety. In contrast, during our YSRCP government, CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy gave top priority to women's safety and implemented 99 percent of the promises made to the people. Our police were deployed to protect citizens and implement welfare schemes. But today, they are being misused to frame false cases against YSRCP leaders instead of ensuring women's safety.' Kalyani also pointed out the government's financial mismanagement: 'In just one year, the NDA coalition has borrowed Rs 1.65 lakh crore, while our government borrowed Rs 3.5 lakh crore over five years. They have already borrowed more than 50 percent of what we did in our full term.' She concluded by saying, 'We will continue to fight against this government until they implement the promised schemes. The people, especially women, are waiting for Jagan Mohan Reddy's return to power because of the good governance he delivered.' Criticising TDP leader Nara Lokesh, she remarked, 'When Jagan Mohan Reddy was Chief Minister, Lokesh used to oppose the education policies. But now, they've simply renamed our 'Amma Vodi' scheme as 'Talli Ki Vandanam' while failing to implement it properly for an entire year. Just before the elections, they announced financial assistance but deducted Rs 2,000 from each beneficiary. They promised Rs 15,000 but disbursed only Rs 13,000. This clearly shows their poor commitment and false promises. They should think carefully before making statements and honour what they say.' (ANI)

Talking about the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election, he expressed confidence in expanding VCK's base while reaffirming the alliance with the DMK. 'Definitely each and every election we are negotiating getting more seats and areas, in 2026 elections also we will try to increase our contesting constituencies. We are with DMK-head alliance, we will negotiate smoothly and settle it amicably,' the VCK chief said. On Actor Vijay, who has his own political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Thirumavalavan said that the DMK alliance will not be affected. 'Actor Vijay started a political party, he has not yet decided that he will go alone or form an alliance, but being a popular cine actor, he will make an impact, but it will not affect DMK headed alliance, we will definitely win the elections in the 2026 elections,' he added. Aspirants Take AI Reality Check Before Taking Poll Plunge

Nagpur: Artificial Intelligence (AI) can do a lot many things that can help improve efficiency and productivity on individual or organisational level, but can it predict how an aspirant will fare in an election? That's no longer a question, but something that's already being tried and tested. In fact, AI is the latest trend in poll strategy with aspirants seeking "advice" about their chances of winning, before throwing their hat in the ring. Some poll strategy/survey companies are now offering an AI-driven analytics services to prepare a full report on the chances (in percentage) an aspirant has in a particular ward, based on past poll records, political competition, ground surveys and issues which are connecting with people. An aspirant from North Nagpur, who wanted to check his prospects in the upcoming civic body elections, got such a report from a Mumbai-based company. The aspirant told TOI that it was a cost-effective way to get a reality check. "It's like a marriage kundli-matching report," he laughed while explaining the concept. "For less than Rs 3 lakh I get this report which provides me with a neutral view on what my chances are, regardless of what my supporters say or what I feel. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo This way, I can decide whether or not to spend a lot of money in the entire poll campaign," said the aspirant. This AI generated testing-the-waters report works out best for poll aspirants who are not career politicians, though the data is crucial for every category of aspirant. Successful businessmen and moneybags who are keen to try their luck in politics still keep the 'economic viability' of their new venture in mind. This poll aspirant got TOI in touch with two others who also got the report made, and said "it helps a lot". One of them said, "The report is very detailed and we got it in Marathi only. A team came down here and did the survey and two weeks later I got the report. The chart showed us which issues are important in the ward and which party is the preferred one. Then there was an advice on what issues I will have to focus on for victory. But my report gave a low chance of me winning, so I am thinking whether or not to contest." Through these poll aspirants, TOI got in touch with the company in Mumbai, which prepared the reports. Speaking on behalf of the company, Chaitanya Wadekar said even before internet came, surveys were being done. "What has changed now is how the data is collected and most importantly – due to advent of AI – how that data is analyzed and presented," Wadekar said. Wadekar said, "AI predictive model becomes better as more data pours in. We feed it with our intensive ground intel, combined with old poll results, demographics, issues etc to get a more detailed response. Our digital AI-driven database also identifies local influencers, be it social media stars, activists, lawyers, community leaders, who each can swing a few hundred or even a thousand votes in favour of the candidate. " Poll aspirants also get a dedicated online dashboard, in Marathi too, and at the click of the button they can see a comprehensive interactive report. The third poll aspirant TOI spoke with said, "Everyone enters polls to win, nobody says I am here to lose unless you have an agenda to cut votes. And at the civic body level, candidates have to mostly put up their own funds. So, the more accurate information you can get, the better.
