Fire starts at unoccupied Appleton residence that was under renovation

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – On Sunday morning, crews in Appleton worked to put out a fire at a residence that was unoccupied and under renovation.
Crews with the Appleton Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 1700 block of North Elinor Street around 8 a.m. on May 18.
The initial call noted visible smoke from the roof vents and audible alarms coming from the residence.

When crews arrived, smoke was spotted coming from the structure, which was unoccupied and under renovation. Firefighters forced entry and quickly put out the fire.
Nobody was in the home at the time of the fire. Authorities say the damage to the building and its contents is estimated at $100,000.
