Love Island star Sammy Root has addressed the shock split of two of his former co-stars - expressing his shock that the solid couple had called time on their relationship
Love Island star Sammy Root has expressed his shock over Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowaki's shock split. Sammy met the pair during his first stint on Love Island in 2023, which he won with Jess Harding.
Whitney and Lochan came in close second, and although Sammy and Jess didn't last long outside of the villa, Whitney and Lochan's relationship continued for almost two years after leaving the show.
However, last month fans were left devastated when the pair announced they had gone their separate ways. "Hey guys, Unfortunately mine and Lochan's relationship has come to an end," Whitney, 27, wrote back in April.
"Thank you for all the love and support that you've shown us through our journey, we're forever grateful."
Lochan, 27, shared the same statement to his Instagram Stories and signed it "L," alongside a red love heart emoji.
Now, Sammy, who shared a villa with the two when their journey began, has revealed he was as shocked as the rest of us when he heard the news.
Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, the star said: 'I was very shocked. I bumped into Lochan probably a few months ago, and he seemed absolutely fine.
"I don't really speak to either of them, so it was still out the blue. I didn't have a clue what was going on with them."
Despite not keeping contact since leaving the villa, Sammy messaged Lochan to check in. "I messaged Lochan just making sure he was all good and if he needs anything let me know, but he seemed fine, but yeah, it was, it was quite a shock," he concluded.
Sammy has also found himself at the centre of split rumours after leaving the Love Island: All Stars villa with Elma Pazar. The rumours began Elma posted a 'cryptic TikTok' in which fans feared she branded her partner a "red flag".
However, fans can now breathe a sigh of relief as Sammy has set the record straight. "It's going well. We're just doing our own thing, staying as private as we can," he told us.
"Once you've been in the public eye, you'll always get people's opinions so we keep ourselves to ourselves really."

Kaleb Cooper, known for being Jeremy Clarkson's farmhand on Diddly Squat Farm, has ended up in A&E this week after suffering a painful injury Kaleb Cooper has revealed he has suffered a 'painful' injury that sent him to A&E as he shared an update for his fans online earlier this week. The Clarkson's Farm star, 26, took to Instagram on Wednesday (June 11) to share that he had to go to the hospital for a scan after hurting his foot while playing a game of football on Tuesday evening. Kaleb shared that he was in significant pain as he posted a video of his swollen ankle while hobbling around his farm, before going to the hospital for an X-ray the following morning, the Mirror reports. He later updated his Instagram story to reassure fans that he still planned to attend the Three Counties Show over the weekend. He said:"I may be hobbling around as I've fractured my ankle, but I'll still be at the 3 Counties Show on the Sunday." "I'll be doing talks throughout the day, and Hawkestone Cider will be there. So, do pop along and say hello. I'll be there - don't you worry! I'm looking forward to it," he continued. The update comes just days after the fourth season of Clarkson's Farm premiered on Prime Video.
