The Bachelor Premiere Recap: Save the Drama for Your Llama — Vote for Grant's Best Match in Our Poll!
The Bachelor is back, and Grant's women are keeping the drama to a minimum — for this week, at least.
Monday's premiere reintroduces us to Grant, a Houston day trader who competed for Jenn's heart on The Bachelorette, to the tune of Salt-N-Pepa's 'Whatta Man.' He used to play pro basketball overseas — and the day trading must be going well, since he drives a bright red Ferrari up to his mom's house. He has a protective older sister, Taylor, and he's sweet with his grandmother Corine, handing her a rose. Grant explains that his parents split up, and his dad Robert is a recovering addict. He sits down with Robert, who encourages him to be a better father than he was. This is getting emotional already!

Grant arrives at the Bachelor mansion and does a little dance to work out the nerves before the limos start pulling up. First out of the limo is Rose, a nurse who asks him if he will 'accept this Rose.' (Duh, he will.) Litia is a venture capitalist who hands Grant a bejeweled basketball, and J'Nae is a fellow basketball player who does the LeBron chalk toss with him, so we can expect lots of hoops talk. Carolina speaks Spanish to him (she's from Puerto Rico), and she hopes Grant marks a positive change for her love life: 'My last boyfriend was a DJ.' Alli Jo pulls up in a white Jeep and hands Grant a heart-shaped pizza, explaining that she's from New Jersey, so 'you know I'm gonna be loud.' Dina is a high-powered attorney, and she knows what she wants: She gives Grant her ring size right away.
Then the introductions start to get kookier: Alexe walks up with a llama named Linda, since she grew up on a farm in Canada. (And yes, the llama joins her in the mansion and becomes a full-fledged character, complete with subtitles.) Juliana brings Grant a cannoli, since she's Italian, and Chloie is wearing ruby slippers because she's from Kansas. Bailey works in social media, so she snaps a bunch of selfies — like, an obnoxious amount of selfies. Savannah is a wedding planner, so she carries in a big wedding cake with her and Grant on the topper, and Vicki is a nightclub server, so she comes in holding a big sign with Grant's name on it. Zoe is the last to arrive, and the tech engineer-slash-model seems to make a big impression on Grant, as they fire T-shirts with their faces on them out of a T-shirt cannon. Do we sense an early frontrunner?
Grant enters the mansion and makes a sweet speech about what love means to him, and Bailey swoops in right away to pull him for a private chat. (They take more selfies, of course.) Parisa sits him down to show him a PowerPoint (?) of their future together… and she's not breaking the 'crazy cat lady' stereotype, is she? Allyshia insists she doesn't kiss on the first date, but when she and Grant cuddle and fantasize about watching rom-coms together, he pulls her in for a lip-lock. Juliana plays keyboard for him, and they bond talking about their families — and they kiss, too. Carolina gets one-on-one time as well, and she gets emotional talking about her family. Grant wanted to kiss her, he tells us, but he holds back for now.
The girls marvel at how there's so little tension between them so far — until a mystery woman pulls up in a limo and strides past them, making a beeline for Grant. A new competitor? An ex? Nah, it's just his sister Taylor, who sticks around to show the girls his embarrassing baby photos and give them more background info on him. (Whew.) She likes what she sees from the ladies, and Litia praises Grant for how in touch he is with his emotions… and gets a kiss, too. He kisses Alexe as well after she gives him a quick French lesson (that's not a euphemism), and Zoe, Vicky and Rose get smooches, too, taking his total to seven. That's a lot of candidates for the first impression rose, which comes with a bonus this season: the first one-on-one date next week. But in the end, he hands the rose to Alexe. The llama must've put her over the top.
It's rose ceremony time, and Parisa is worried: 'It seemed like he was enjoying my PowerPoint.' He hands roses to Litia, Rose, Zoe, Ella, Alli Jo from Joisey, Natalie, Juliana, Vicky the bottle girl, Carolina, Beverly, Bailey the selfie queen, Dina, Chloie, Rebecca, Sarafiena and Allyshia. The final rose goes to… PowerPoint Parisa. The rejects include Savannah the wedding cake girl, J'Nae the hooper… and a few other girls whose names we don't need to know anymore. And if the premiere was drama-free, the trailer for the rest of the season surely is not: We see plenty of tears, and Carolina confronts Grant about something he supposedly said, with him concluding, 'One of these women is being deceitful.' One woman demands to know, 'Are you the bitch who said my dress is too short?' Later, Carolina sings as she walks upstairs, 'I guess I'm crazy and evil.'
But the biggest drama comes from Grant himself: He's excited to propose in the finale, but 'I'm torn between two women. I have a ring, and I don't know who I'm going to give it to.' He tells his dad he has an hour to decide, and he still doesn't know what to do. Jesse even warns him that the women are driving up for the final rose ceremony, but Grant tells him, 'The truth is: I don't know.' Well, that's sure to make whoever he does choose feel great!

EMERY KNOWS |Early in the episode, Emery lets Joe know that he's very aware of the youngest Stabler brother's contact with Elliot. So he makes sure Joe is present when Emery has his thug kill a man who reneged on a deal. The unspoken message: Fear my wrath. On Emery's orders, Joe trashes the place afterward, but makes sure to leave a little clue for his brother before he goes. Det. McKenna is first on the scene and finds the foil-wrapped packet of drugs Joe placed at the scene. While McKenna doesn't know the ins and out of Joe's involvement, he knows enough to call Elliot to let him know what they found. The substance is something brand new, and when Det. Tanner gets wind that McKenna gave Stabler a heads-up, she wants to know why. Oh, and she also informs him that they're now working the case together. Stabler makes reference to his confidential informant being on the inside of whatever's going down, but when she presses him for more information, he's squirrelly. Eventually he lets her know that his CI is his brother, and I'm grateful for her very important reminder that THIS IS A TERRIBLE IDEA. Law & Order: SVU Season 27: Everything We Know So Far View List WHO'S USING WHOM? | Joe calls Elliot to give him a heads-up about a big drug deal that's about to go down, but after they get off the phone, we see that Emery is forcing Joe to feed his brother misinformation. There is, indeed, a drug operation at the address Joe gives Elliot. But when the New York Police Department rolls in to shut it all down, it's not quite the huge deal Joe implied. Tanner quickly realizes that Emery used them to take out his biggest competition in selling the new drug, and as much as Elliot doesn't want to admit it, it seems like his brother is playing him. 'COME HOME' | Meanwhile, Randall finds out that Joe called Elliot — thanks, Kathleen — and storms down to the office to yell that he's having premonitions that something bad is going to happen to their little brother. Elliot lets him know that Joe is back in town, and tasks him with telling Joe to call Elliot the next time he rings Bernie's cell. Randall does as instructed, which leads to Elliot and Joe having a rooftop meet-up. Joe gives El the location where Emery is going to seal a gigantic drug deal the next day. El gives Joe a medallion — likely the same one Bunny gave him in the season premiere, no? — and says that Bernie wanted him to have it. Joe desperately wants his mother to know he's clean, but Elliot reassures him that she never knew he was using heroin in the first place. They hug before they part, with Elliot telling his brother, 'Come home.' GOODBYE, JOE | Thing is, Joe lied to Elliot to keep the cops away from where the deal is actually going down, in a whole different borough. But ANOTHER thing is, Elliot is a lot smarter than his Guy Fieri-haired sibling. And when the cops creep in with a caravan of backup, Emery figures out that Joe's new medallion has a tracker on the back of it. An incensed Emery, Joe and Emery's thug make a run for it; Elliot is desperately searching the warehouse when he gets a call from Emery. The rich Brit, who has a gun on Joe, offers a deal: 'Remove the APB on me,' which will allow him to leave town unencumbered, 'or he dies.' Stabler stammers that he'll work on the situation, but as a helicopter circles overhead, it's too late. Emery hangs up, and Stabler hears a gunshot in the vicinity soon after. He runs to find Emery gone and Joe bleeding out from a gunshot wound to the chest. 'I mailed it,' the younger Stabler gasps, blood trickling from his lips, as Elliot pulls him close and begs him to stick around because 'Mama's been waiting for you.' But things are going downhill very quickly. 'Tell her I was clean,' Joe whispers, then he's gone. Elliot puts his face very close to his little brother's and sobs. 'LET'S GO FOR A RIDE' | Later, Stabler breaks down again when another officer asks if he moved the body. 'I held him,' Elliot barely gets out, crying as he looks down at Joe's blood on his hands. Tanner arrives and sits with him, telling him to go be with his family. We watch (but do not hear) as a montage shows him telling Randall and Kathleen. (But not Eli and Becky? Or BERNIE?) Then Stabler pulls his car into an alley where McKenna is waiting for him… with Emery's thug tied up in the trunk. 'I was going to book him, but then I heard about your brother. So, we can take him in, or we can go for a ride,' McKenna says. He's barely done speaking when Stabler makes his choice: 'Let's go for a ride.' Now it's your turn. Will you miss Joe? Kendrick Lamar & SZA's ‘Luther' Breaks Record for Most Weeks at No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart
After each individually holding the record, Kendrick Lamar and SZA combine forces to claim the longest-running No. 1 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart as their collaboration 'Luther' reaches an unprecedented 23rd week at the top. The crowning feat, on the list dated June 7, dates to the chart becoming the singular standard genre survey in October 1958. With its 23rd week at No. 1, 'Luther' breaks from the tie it set last week with Lamar's 'Not Like Us.' The Grammy-winning anthem scored 22 weeks in charge in 2024-25: 21 amid its summer 2024 run and its final frame this February following its much-discussed performance at the halftime show of Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9. SWAT: Exiles: Deacon & Victor Tan Actors React to the Spin-off Announcement
While the upcoming spin-off series, titled SWAT: Exiles, will soon usher in a new era for the fan-favorite franchise, its abrupt announcement seems to have drawn a bittersweet reaction from Jay Harrington, who played Deacon, and David Lim, who portrayed Victor Tan in the original series. The duo has come out to share their disappointment about being informed of the spin-off just two days after the premiere of the SWAT Season 8 finale. In a recent discussion, Jay Harrington, who played the role of Deacon on SWAT throughout its eight-season run, noted that the cast was completely unaware of the existence of SWAT: Exiles. While speaking with TVLine, the Better Off Ted alum revealed that 'not once' was he notified of the recently confirmed SWAT spin-off. Harrington, along with most of the rest of the show's cast, only came to know about plans for Exiles on May 18, from Hondo actor Shemar Moore. Understandably taken aback by the sudden announcement for SWAT: Exiles, Harrington stated, 'I did not have a spin-off on my bingo card, for sure.' While he admitted that the SWAT producers did not owe him anything, he did say that the studio should've let him know that they wanted a 'clean break [and to] start fresh.' 'If there was any disappointment, it's that when they announced it, we weren't mentioned at all,' Harrington added. While Harrington expressed his feelings about SWAT: Exiles in an expansive interview, his co-star, David Lim, penned a heartfelt message on his Instagram profile to do the same. After showing gratitude to fans for celebrating his eight-year stint on SWAT, Lim let his thoughts about the forthcoming spin-off be known. He wrote, 'I'd be lying if I said the rollout of the new spinoff didn't sting. It was tough to see it announced just two days after our finale—with no mention of the cast who helped build S.W.A.T. from day one. After 8 incredible seasons, it felt like we were brushed aside when there could've been a moment of reflection and recognition—for the people who built this show, and for the impact it had on so many.' Despite his criticisms of how the announcement of SWAT: Exiles was handled, Lim reiterated how proud he was of his castmates before concluding his message by noting, 'No version of this story can take that away.'
