Jennifer Lopez breaks silence on divorce with Ben Affleck: 'It almost took me out for good...'

Time of India2 days ago
After months of speculation and silence,
Jennifer Lopez
has finally opened up about her divorce from Ben Affleck, revealing how the heartbreak nearly consumed her, but ultimately became the fuel for her most personal and powerful music yet.
A love story ends, Quietly
As reported by Marie Claire, Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024, and the split was finalized in January 2025, marking the end of a two-year marriage that had captivated fans around the world. The timing was especially painful, it coincided with what would have been their second wedding anniversary.
Sources close to the couple told Marie Claire that Lopez was 'furious and humiliated' by how things ended, and that both she and Affleck had lingering doubts before making the final decision.
Despite the emotional toll, Lopez has chosen to speak openly about the experience, telling Interview Magazine, 'It almost took me out for good. But now, on the other side of it, I think, 'That's exactly what I needed.''
'Wreckage of you': A song born from solitude
At a private listening party in Los Angeles, Lopez debuted a new track titled 'Wreckage of You,' which she said was written just two weeks prior. According to Hindustan Times, the song is a raw pop ballad that explores the emotional wreckage of a failed relationship but ends on a note of empowerment.

As reported by News18, Lopez told fans that the idea for the song came to her while lying in bed after a long day of rehearsals. 'Last year was a very difficult time for me, both personally and professionally,' she said. 'I had to cancel my tour and really focus on myself.' One attendee described the track as 'a very emotional, empowering song about walking away from a relationship and coming out a stronger person'.
The mansion that won't let go
Despite the emotional clarity Lopez has found, some practical remnants of the relationship remain unresolved.
According to Marie Claire, Lopez and Affleck have struggled to sell their 60 million dollars Los Angeles mansion, which was listed in 2024 but has since been pulled from the market. The home, once a symbol of their rekindled romance, now stands as a lingering reminder of what once was.
A new era: Tour, transformation, and total freedom
Lopez is now preparing to launch her 'Up All Night' world tour, which kicks off in Pontevedra, Spain, on July 8, 2025, and will span Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia before returning to the U.S.
for a Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace beginning December 30, 2025, through March 2026.
In her Interview Magazine profile, Lopez emphasized that she's not looking for love right now. 'Being in a relationship doesn't define me,' she said. 'I can't be looking for happiness in other people. I have to have happiness within myself'.
A voice reclaimed
Lopez's decision to speak out is more than a celebrity confession—it's a declaration of self-worth. As she told E! Online, 'This is exactly where I needed to be, to lead me to where I want to go.' She added, 'That doesn't mean it didn't almost take me out for good. It almost did. But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, 'F--k, that is exactly what I needed''.

Mohit Suri reveals Ahaan Panday auditioned for 'Saiyaara' with scenes from Ranbir Kapoor's 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' and Shahid Kapoor's 'Kabir Singh'

Filmmaker Mohit Suri has opened up about the unconventional journey of debutant actor Ahaan Panday in his new film 'Saiyaara'. In a candid chat, the director, who is gearing up for the release of the film, also revealed how producer Aditya Chopra sensed Panday's initial hesitation. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Suri shared that while Ahaan's audition reels featured intense scenes from ' Ae Dil Hai Mushkil ' and 'Kabir Singh', along with a comic bit from 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania', something still felt missing. 'I wasn't fully convinced,' Suri admitted. 'The tapes were good, but I couldn't see the raw spark I was looking for.' It wasn't until Suri decided to observe the young talent in a more casual environment that things changed. Describing a late-night outing with Ahaan and his friends, Suri recalled, 'He was too formal in meetings, kept calling me 'sir'. I told him to stop that. Within 15 minutes, I was bro.' It was that shift in comfort that helped Suri see the real Ahaan. 'Around 2 or 3 AM, I saw him sitting on top of the bar, not the stool, the bar itself, laughing, animated, just living the moment. That's when I saw my lead character. He had it in him all along. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Why seniors are rushing to get this Internet box – here's why! But once he shed that pressure, his natural energy emerged—enough to land him the role. Known for guiding newcomers in emotionally charged films like ' Aashiqui 2 ' and 'Ek Villain,' Suri said he prefers working with fresh talent. 'You play to their strengths and quietly support their weaker spots,' he said, confident that Ahaan fits perfectly into the intense romantic world of Saiyaara. Also starring debutante Aneet Padda, Saiyaara marks a bold step for Yash Raj Films into Gen-Z romance. The film's trailer, released on July 8, has already sparked strong online buzz ahead of its theatrical release. Saiyaara - Official Trailer

Sheldon Chau's cinematography captures the beauty of forested landscapes and celestial moments with finesse, giving the film a rich visual texture. Some of the VFX elements fall short of the film's ambition, but the overall sincerity of the production shines through."
