Eamonn Holmes rushed to hospital after bathroom fall amid ongoing health struggles

Yahoo02-05-2025
TV presenter Eamonn Holmes has been taken to hospital after suffering a fall at home.
The 65-year-old broadcaster, best known for his time hosting This Morning, shared the news on social media, posting a photo taken from inside an ambulance.
'An unexpected journey this morning,' Holmes wrote in his post.
'Bit of a fall on the bathroom floor. Gosh it hurts. Thank you Ambulance crew.'
Holmes, who now fronts a breakfast programme on GB News, has faced several health challenges in recent years.
He previously underwent spinal surgery and a double hip replacement, and has spoken openly about mobility issues that have left him reliant on a scooter and daily support from carers.
The fall comes during what Holmes has described as a 'tough year,' both physically and personally.
He and his wife, fellow presenter Ruth Langsford, announced their separation in 2024 after 14 years of marriage and nearly three decades together.
Speaking about his condition in The Sun, Holmes said: 'I have been basically disabled for a year and a half or so and I have to have a carer to do the smallest simplest things and it's humiliating and humbling – but thank goodness that carers are available.'
Holmes and Langsford first began dating in 1996.
He and Gabrielle, with whom he shares three children, separated in 1994.
After six years together, Holmes and Langsford had a son, and in 2010, they tied the knot in a ceremony at Elvetham Hall in Hampshire.
The couple went on to co-host several shows including Gift Wrapped, How the Other Half Lives, and Do the Right Thing with Eamonn and Ruth.
Despite their split, the pair are said to be 'determined to stay friends and keep things amicable.' Holmes is now reported to be in a new relationship with Katie Alexander.
There has been no update yet on his current condition following the fall.

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz ‘have no contact with celeb pals' amid ongoing family rift

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz are reportedly no longer in touch with several high-profile friends, as rumours of a family rift with the Beckhams continue to swirl. The couple, who married in 2022, recently renewed their vows but fans were quick to note the absence of Brooklyn's parents, David and Victoria Beckham, along with siblings Romeo, 22, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14,from the pictures shared online. It remains unclear if the pair attended the celebration. However, previous reports alleged family members only learned of the event after it was publicised online. Tensions between the pair and the wider Beckham family have been rumoured since their lavish wedding three years ago, with speculation intensifying in recent months after the newlyweds skipped David's 50th birthday party. The family has avoided directly addressing the feud claims, although cryptic posts on social media have kept rumours alive. Now, according to reports, the couple are also said to have 'no contact' with a number of their former celebrity friends from Brooklyn's UK days, including Rocco Ritchie, the son of Madonna and Guy Ritchie, and Gordon Ramsay's twins Jack and Holly. The Sun also claimed they have drifted from former close friend Selena Gomez, despite previously holidaying together and regularly sharing photos on social media. 'Rocco, Selena, the Ramsay kids – none of them have even liked the wedding pics after Nicola posted, let alone commented to congratulate them,' an insider told the outlet. 'Things have gone very cold with his old friends – it's like the marriage to Nicola meant he started a whole new life with new people around him.' The Sun have contacted Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz's rep for comment. Gomez's absence from their vow renewal fuelled speculation about the state of their once inseparable friendship. The actress and singer, 33, has been close to the couple for several years, famously joking in 2023 that they were in a 'throuple' after spending New Year's together in Mexico. The trio were often pictured together and shared gushing tributes on social media. But The Only Murders In The Building star was nowhere to be seen at the August 2 celebration in Florida, and unlike in previous years, she did not post congratulations or interact with the couple's anniversary posts. Her absence drew further attention when her friend Dominic West was photographed with the newlyweds, while her former assistant, Theresa Mingus, was also reportedly on the guest list. The Lose Me To Love You hit-maker did, however, attend another wedding days later – sharing Instagram pictures from musician Lil Ducky's nuptials with her fiancé, Benny Blanco. One guest told the Daily Mail: 'Selena wasn't there… she hasn't even said congratulations anywhere public, which is very unlike her. 'There was a time when she was helping Nicola through her fall out with the Beckhams – maybe she's had enough of that now.' Despite the reports, it was previously alleged that Gomez was supporting Peltz, 30, privately and seeking her advice while planning her own wedding to Blanco. Peltz's own family were front and centre for the celebrations with her even opting to wear her 70-year-old mother's vintage 1985 bridal gown, while her father Nelson, 83, officiated the ceremony. Beckham has become increasingly estranged from his family since skipping his dad's 50th birthday earlier this year. A source told The Sun: 'This was the final kick in the teeth for David and Victoria… Not one member of the 30-plus extended family knew about the wedding, or were invited. His grandparents are devastated too.' The insider added: 'It feels cruel and spiteful… This is a family who feel they have lost their precious boy – and see no way back.'

What we know about Strictly 'cocaine' scandal as police investigate

The Met Police and the BBC are investigating after two of the show's stars were accused of taking the class-A drug The Met Police is investigating allegations of drug use on Strictly Come Dancing. It was "widely known" that two stars of the BBC show allegedly took the class A substance, The Sun on Sunday reported. The Met has now said it had "received an allegation about drug-related offences". In a statement, it added: "Police are assessing the information and further enquiries are taking place to establish whether there is evidence of a criminal offence being committed." The drug-taking allegations first emerged in a legal submission to the BBC from law firm Russells on behalf of former celebrity contestant Wynne Evans, according to the newspaper. Evans's own time with Strictly wasn't without controversy; he was forced to quit the tour after he made an "inappropriate and unacceptable" comment during its launch, and consequently, BBC Radio Wales didn't renew his contract. Who are the Strictly stars accused of drug taking? The Sun on Sunday reported that there were two Strictly stars accused of drug taking. Those two stars in question have not been named by the newspaper. It was reported that the two stars will be offered professional support behind the scenes. BBC offered no comment on this. What has the BBC said? BBC News reported that the broadcaster is understood to have enlisted the help of a law firm to support the investigation into the allegations of drug taking. External law firms report back to internal teams in cases like this, Yahoo UK understands. The investigation is being led by the BBC, not the law firm. A BBC spokesperson said: "We have clear protocols and policies in place for dealing with any serious complaint raised with us. We would always encourage people to speak to us if they have concerns. It would not be appropriate for us to comment further." The Sun reported the possibility of random drug tests being implemented into the Strictly tour. However, Yahoo UK understands that there are no plans to introduce further measures at this time. Changes to Strictly Come Dancing BBC made a number of changes to Strictly Come Dancing's welfare last July, behind the scenes. Chaperones now attend every rehearsal room, and there were two new welfare producers appointed as part of the new measures. Additional training is now provided for the dancers, production team and crew. New measures were put in place after allegations were made about some of the professional dancers. Strictly's pro dancers Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima left the show in the wake of allegations about their behaviour toward their dance partners Amanda Abbington and Zara McDermott. Former dance partner Abbington made allegations of bullying and harassment claims against Pernice, who had denied the claims; some of the complaints were upheld, but not all of them. Strictly Come Dancing will return in the autumn with two new professional dancers and celebrities taking part in the show. Yahoo UK has reached out to the BBC and Wynne Evans' representatives for further comment. Solve the daily Crossword
