Hint for my husband: I'm lusting after this burgundy Crock-Pot, and it's on sale for Valentine's Day
While chocolates and long-stemmed roses remain among the most popular Valentine's Day gifts, I can't think of anything sexier than a new Crock-Pot. Wait, where are you going? Hear me out! I'm not talking about any old Crock-Pot — I'm talking about the stunning burgundy Crock-Pot 6-Quart Slow Cooker I caught sight of this morning. As a former pro baker who obsesses over all things kitchen, I started envisioning how gorgeous the color (dubbed "Lambrusco Red") would look on my counter. I'm writing this in hopes that my husband will get the hint: After all, it's on sale for just $40 at Target and will arrive before Feb. 14. Plus, it's really for both of us since I'd let him use it. Well, maybe.

This is the lowest price I'm seeing anywhere for this color — yes, even Walmart and Amazon have priced it higher. It's likely on sale because it's a holiday color, but I think this reddish-purple hue is very romantic for Valentine's Day. Plus, the fact that it's not bright pink makes it suitable for year-round use.

While I could go on and on about how beautiful I think this kitchen essential is, I do realize that appliances should, first and foremost, perform well. Seeing as Crock-Pot is a trusted brand that's been making slow cookers for many decades, I have no reason to believe this stunner would give a home cook any trouble.
What makes slow cookers so ingenious is that they let you prepare meals that take a long time without having to babysit them. They don't say "set it and forget it" for nothing! You could toss ingredients in before you leave for work and have a delicious dinner ready to go by the time you get home. This Crock-Pot also has a Cook & Carry locking lid, which tightly seals everything when you're taking it on the go. (Invite me to your dinner parties and I'll bring over some queso!) Speaking of dinner parties, it can also hold enough food to feed at least seven people. And if you want to give your mac and cheese a little crispy finish, the stoneware bowl can go in ovens up to 400°F.
Now, I'm the sort of person who wants my appliances to be as user-friendly as possible — and with just two buttons, this model is just that. There's a button that allows you to set the cooker to "Low" for 8 or 10 hours, or "High" for 4 or 6 hours. It also has a "Warm" function if you just want your food to stay hot. The other button? "Off." Yeah, I think I can handle that.
This aesthetically pleasing pot is, well, no crock — it scores high marks in both the looks and performance departments.
"[I] made an eight-hour recipe today and it performed perfectly!" exclaimed one satisfied shopper. "Beyond performance, I like the more modern appearance, the digital controls and the rubber bumper around the lid. Would definitely recommend if you're in the market for a new slow cooker."
"Great Crock-Pot!" raved another. "Works as it should. [It] traveled to Christmas [and] got lots of compliments on its color! [It] also kept smokies very warm on the car ride."
"So far, this Crock-Pot works well," shared a third. "I love that the lid locks and the timer works well. The color is nice. It is easy to clean."

Amazon Cancels ‘Étoile' Despite Previously Ordering A Season 2
Etoile Some cancellations are more brutal than others, and that's what we've just seen with what Amazon Prime Video just did to Étoile. The ballet-based show was cancelled after one season, but this was despite ordering two seasons before it was released. Despite an order like that, it's not guaranteed that it produces both seasons and well, here we are, a case of this going badly wrong. Étoile was made by Amy Sherman-Palladino, who was behind the famed Gilmore Girls and Amazon darling The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. This is also her second foray into a dance show after Bunheads, but she just can't make it happen. It's true that Étoile made it to #1 on Amazon Prime Video's top 10 list, but it didn't stay there long, and the context of its overall viewership wasn't great. The show was quickly displaced by Reacher, months after its third season had ended, and The Wheel of Time which also ended up cancelled. The end result was not enough viewership for the cost of the show, so despite the relationship with the creator, decent enough audience scores, and at least a brief #1 charting, it didn't survive closer inspection. Etoile The 'rethinking' of series plans is interesting, as Deadline brings up The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Amazon's enormously budgeted fantasy series that lost half its viewership between seasons 1 and 2. Previously, it was thought that the show was guaranteed to run for five seasons due to a deal with the Tolkien estate, but there are intermediating circumstances that can alter plans. Rings of Power, for instance, was not officially renewed for months and months when season 3 was supposedly going to be a guarantee initially. And it might be the case that depending on its performance, season 3 could be its last. There have been a few hard cuts at Amazon lately, with another being the aforementioned Wheel of Time, which was just getting really good three seasons in. But Étoile didn't even get that long, and despite positive vibes about the series, it wasn't allowed to attempt another run. At present, it doesn't seem like Amy Sherman-Palladino has any upcoming projects in the works, as surely the assumption was that Étoile would continue. Ways to save on your wedding
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — June is the traditional month for weddings, but no matter when you've set the date, one thing is for sure: getting to the big day takes a lot of planning. And a lot of money. According to the average wedding costs $33,900. That's up from $28,000 pre-pandemic. If you're going to spend the money, you should get the most for it. Here are some affordable ways to keep your wedding costs manageable. The reception: Many couples are opting to have their ceremony on a weekday to keep wedding costs down. They're also staying away from romantic holidays like Valentine's Day, a time when vendors may increase prices. Wedding planners advise looking for a venue that offers package deals (venue, catering, etc.). And always try to negotiate a price. The decor: Do you really need that ice sculpture in the shape of a swan? If the answer is yes, by all means get one. But if you're on a tight budget, think about renting flowers or greenery. Framed pictures of the bride, groom and their family members are a nice touch too. The flowers: Consider renting flower arrangements and greenery for the church ceremony. Many churches have more than one wedding on the same day. You could contact the other brides and see if you can either keep their flowers for your wedding (and, of course, compensating them!) or you could offer your flowers (at a nice price) to the bride whose wedding is after yours. If that's not possible, think about using the flower arrangements from your ceremony at the reception too. (Be sure to ask someone to handle transporting them for you.) The guests: Again, do you really need your cousin's best friend's sister's babysitter at your wedding? Be judicious. Try this test: if you close your eyes to imagine your wedding and don't see the person's face you're trying to decide on, move them to a backup list. You can always add them back in if your budget allows. The menu: If you want a formal dinner, that's wonderful. If you can't afford it, there are many classy alternatives. Check out your favorite restaurant's catering menu. Many times their cost includes set up and clean up. (Of course, check with your venue first. Many have an existing list of caterers they will only work with.) And consider a buffet. Not only can it be more affordable, but it also ensures your guests will mingle and not just talk to the people at their table. The bar: Everyone wants to toast the bride and groom! But if a fully stocked bar and big cocktail selection aren't a priority for the happy couple, consider sticking to wine and beer only. For variety, you could offer one or two signature cocktails. The cake: Your wedding cake can be extravagant or it can be understated. Either way, your it can be a showpiece without breaking the bank. Many couples choose a smaller cake to cut for pictures and then serve sheet cake slices or cupcakes to the guests. One sure way to keep the cake cost down is to opt for buttercream frosting instead of fondant. It's your special day. You don't have to go broke to have the wedding of your dreams.
