Chamba: In a shining testament to cultural unity and living heritage, Chamba's Mirza family continues to honour the sacred tradition of offering the first minjar (golden tassel) at the revered temples of Lord Lakshmi Narayan and Lord Raghunath during the internationally acclaimed Minjar fair.
Taking this legacy forward, the Mirza family has now begun crafting these sacred minjars by hand and making them available to the public through stalls at their ancestral shop in Chamba's Dogra Bazar. This not only preserves a rich artisanal tradition but also allows devotees and visitors to take home a piece of spiritual and cultural harmony.
Minjar mela is celebrated in the Chamba valley as a commemoration of the victory of the Raja of Chamba over the ruler of Trigarta (now known as Kangra) in 935 AD.
This year, the festival will be celebrated from July 27 to Aug 3.
Septuagenarian Aijaz Mirza Baig, head of the Mirza family, shared that their legacy blends devotion with craftsmanship, continuing to serve as a beacon of coexistence. He emphasised that in Chamba, as in much of India, unity is not merely a value but a living tradition. This deeply rooted mutual respect and centuries-old shared practice embody the enduring spirit of Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb, the syncretic blend of Hindu and Muslim cultures.

Khalid Baig Mirza, son of the late Asgar Baig Mirza. one of the four brothers of Aijaz Baig Mirza, said that the family begins making minjars in April, sourcing raw materials from either Amritsar or Delhi. "Each minjar takes around 40 minutes to make, and we produce nearly 20,000 minjars of varying qualities, including using silk threads in the lead-up to the Minjar festival," he said, adding that this is not their source of livelihood, but a tradition deeply rooted in their family's legacy, an act of devotion aimed at keeping a centuries-old cultural practice alive.
Anish Mirza, son of Aijaz Baig Mirza, said the festival is one of Himachal Pradesh's most cherished celebrations that reinforces the secular fabric of the nation. "It is not just a cultural event, but a vibrant example of India's unity in diversity," he said.

The Dark Side of Libra's Charm No One Talks About
Known for balance, charm, and diplomacy, Libra often seems above conflict. They can effortlessly captivate a room and win any argument with their perfectly curated words. But behind the calculated and calm demeanour lies a lesser-known reality. There is a shadow side to them that's rarely talked about. Let's find out the dark side of Libra's irresistible charm - The trap of surface-level harmony Libra thrives on making things look and feel pleasant. But in this pursuit, uncomfortable truths are often swept aside. Instead of addressing differences, they're softened or ignored altogether. Over time, this habit can lead to an emotional disconnect - not just from others, but from oneself. Libra might agree too quickly, apologize too soon, or hide personal discomfort to preserve peace that isn't entirely real. Manipulation wrapped in politeness Libra is not known for confrontations. When things go south, they use their social intelligence to reframe conversations in a way that benefits them. This results in downplaying feelings or influencing others into decisions that benefit their comfort zone. This isn't always conscious, but it creates a dynamic where others rarely see the full truth. The image of the intimacy dilemma Libra often invests heavily in maintaining a picture-perfect life. Friendships, relationships, and even careers may be held together for how they appear and not how they feel. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Stylish New Mobility Scooters Available for Seniors (Prices May Surprise You) Mobility Scooter | Search Ads Search Now Undo This emotional over-editing gradually pushes authenticity out of reach. Dhanashree Verma responds to Yuzvendra Chahal's 'Be Your Own Sugar Daddy' moment post-divorce
Dhanashree Verma has been in the spotlight lately due to her personal life. Following her divorce from Yuzvendra Chahal, she continues to make headlines. Recently, Chahal made some revelations about their separation during a podcast, to which Dhanashree responded in her own way. After parting ways with Yuzvendra Chahal, the dancer and choreographer is now enjoying her single life. She recently shared a few pictures on her Instagram handle, where she can be seen enjoying a spiritual trip to Dubai. In these viral pictures, Dhanashree Verma was seen visiting a Hindu temple in Dubai. Amidst the ups and downs of her personal life, this spiritual trip proved to be very helpful in bringing her peace of mind. How did Dhanashree Verma react to Yuzvendra Chahal's 'Sugar Daddy' moment? Meanwhile, Chahal spoke about the divorce and mentioned wearing a T-shirt with 'Be Your Own Sugar Daddy' written on it during a podcast. Dhanashree, on the other hand, responded through her photos and captions, without saying anything directly. She shared a series of pictures in which she is seen eating local street food, taking a stroll during the golden hour, and visiting a Hindu temple. This post came at a time when Chahal's statement had reignited discussions about their separation. The caption read, 'Back in Dubai after what feels like a lifetime… Growing up here gave me so many core memories and seeing how much the city has evolved was both surreal and heartwarming. One of the highlights was visiting this beautiful Hindu temple, peaceful, powerful, and a reminder of how far this city has come in embracing culture and community ♥️🙏🏻 Grateful for the growth, the roots, and the reconnection'. Why did Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma file for divorce? Chahal spoke about the divorce for the first time in Raj Shamani's podcast. He explained why he wore a 'Be Your Own Sugar Daddy' T-shirt on the day of the final hearing of the divorce. Chahal said, 'I did not want to do drama, I just wanted to give a message, and I did.' Without taking any name, Chahal indicated that he wore this T-shirt because of something that happened in front of him. He said, 'Because something happened in front of him… I was not in the mood earlier.' Chahal also added, 'Now take care of it, now I don't care about anyone,' meaning he took this step to get closure for himself, not to create controversy. Dhanashree has not yet given any direct response to Chahal's statement. Earlier this year, the two announced their separation.
