Congress may have done something to KLIS to win elections: BRS leader KT Rama Rao
Addressing party workers here, Rama Rao alleged that the Congress leaders, who thought that the people would not support them in the Assembly elections, might have started blaming the Kaleshwaram project.
Rama Rao recalled that Telangana earned a good reputation due to the construction of Kaleshwaram and became number one in paddy production in the country, surpassing Punjab. 'That's why the Congress leaders tried to win the elections by doing something or the other,' he alleged.
The BRS leader said that he had expressed these doubts earlier as well.
'Kaleshwaram is a gigantic project, which consists of three barrages, 15 reservoirs and 21 pump houses, hundreds of kilometres of tunnels and thousands of kilometres of gravity canals. All the canals, pump houses, reservoirs and two barrages are good and intact. But two piers of one barrage, having a total of 85 piers, sank,' he said.
'The two piers did not collapse but just sank,' the BRS leader added.
Rama Rao recalled that when the total cost of the Kaleshwaram project was Rs 80,000 crore, the Congress leaders alleged Rs 1 lakh crore corruption in the execution of the project. 'Even Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's father-in-law found fault with this claim,' he added.

BRS MLC Kavitha stages dharna over 42% BC quota
HYDERABAD: BRS MLC and Telangana Jagruthi president K Kavitha staged a dharna at Indira Park here on Monday, demanding that BC reservations be enhanced to 42 per cent. Why hasn't full report on Kaleshwaram project been made public: BRS leader Niranjan
HYDERABAD: Stating that the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme was executed to quench the thirst of Telangana, BRS leader and former agriculture minister S Niranjan Reddy on Monday wondered if it is fair to make 'political accusations' without releasing the full PC Ghose Commission report on the project. 'It is laughable that the Congress is now talking about changing the project site of Kaleshwaram. It was the Congress that maliciously and deliberately changed the site of the Nagarjunasagar project in the past, permanently betraying Telangana,' he said. 'Due to the sins of Congress, Telangana is deprived of its rightful share of water,' he alleged. Niranjan said that the Kaleshwaram project was built after obtaining all the required approvals. 'No matter how many conspiracies they hatch against KCR, the truth will come out. Why hasn't the full PC Ghose Commission report been made public?' he asked. The former minister also stated that the Commission's report was not final and it could be challenged in court as per the Commissions of Inquiry Act. The Commission of Inquiry was constituted only to target KCR, he alleged. He alleged that the ruling Congress was trying to fulfil the wishes of the anti-Telangana forces and trying to portray KCR as someone who made an unprecedented blunder, which was not true.
