Steelers bringing in FA wide receiver Gabe Davis for visit
Just after the 2025 NFL draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers traded wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. Now, the Steelers might finally be taking his replacement seriously. According to ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter, the Steelers are bringing in free-agent wide receiver Gabe Davis for a visit on Thursday.
Davis' career was on the rise after four seasons with the Buffalo Bills and he parlayed that into a huge free-agent contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. But it was clear from the beginning that Davis wasn't a great fit with the Jags and saw a big dip in production. Jacksonville decided to move on from Davis and instead selected former Colorado wide receiver Travis Hunter to pair up with Brian Thomas Jr.

It makes sense that the Steelers would be interested in Davis. He not only provides elite size and speed but also comes as a bargain. Jacksonville is on the hook for $11.5 million of Davis' salary this season, so Pittsburgh wouldn't have to spend a fortune to get a player to compete with Robert Woods to be the Steelers No. 2 wide receiver.

Ravens defensive coordinator Zach Orr has a ton of faith in his starting safety duo. The first three seasons of Kyle Hamilton's career were good enough to inspire the potential envy of NFL stars who are five years his senior. He earned a spot on the Pro Football Writers Association's All-Rookie Team in 2022. He has only gotten better since then. A member of the past two Pro Bowl rosters, he earned a First-Team All-Pro nod in 2023 before being named a Second-Teamer in 2024. One star alone, however, does not an elite safety tandem make, so Baltimore found an answer and an upgrade during the first round of this past April's draft in Malaki Starks. Saying defense coordinator Zach Orr is excited would be a massive understatement. This past week, he expressed his expectation for Hamilton and Starks as a duo. The NFL is a long way from college football in terms of level of competition, but Starks looks like a sure thing. Baltimore is hoping his skill set translates to the highest level of football. During his time in Athens with the Georgia Bulldogs, he was named a Freshman All-American and became a College Football Playoff National Champion. He was a Consensus All-American in 2023, a First-team All-American in 2024, and has two First-Team All-SEC (2023, 2024) to show for his trouble. He's used to playing in big games. He's certain to play in several this season, and fortunately for him, though the pressure to perform will come quickly, he doesn't have to do everything on his own.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Maddox Mihalakis drove in three runs, including two with a go-ahead single in the seventh inning, and Arizona defeated North Carolina 10-8 on Saturday, forcing a deciding game in the Chapel Hill Super Regional. Game 3 is Sunday. The Wildcats trailed 8-6 in the seventh inning but rallied with four runs. With two on and one out, Brendan Summerhill doubled down the left field line to score one run while Easton Breyfogle advanced to third. Breyfogle then scored on a wild pitch by Walter McDuffie to tie the score. After a couple of walks loaded the bases, Mihalakis drove in two with a single to right field off of Folger Boaz. Tony Pluta (3-0) pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings for the win. McDuffie (3-2) took the loss. The Tar Heels trailed 6-4 in the top of the seventh before scoring four runs to take the lead. Tyson Bass hit a three-run home run and Jackson Van De Brake drew a bases-loaded walk. Tommy Splaine hit a two-run home run for Arizona. North Carolina (46-14) is playing in a super regional for the 12th time, having advanced eight times previously. Knicks will seek permission to speak with Mavs' Jason Kidd as coaching search kicks into high gear: reports
The New York Knicks' head coaching search appears to be in full swing. After making the surprising decision to part ways with Tom Thibodeau, the Knicks are now eyeing Jason Kidd as a potential candidate to replace the franchise's fourth-winningest coach. According to ESPN, the Knicks are actively vetting Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd. Since Kidd is under contract with the Mavs, the Knicks would have to submit a formal request to speak to the Dallas coach. The Knicks have yet to request permission to interview Kidd, sources told ESPN. Exploring a trade could also be a route the Knicks could take. But the Knicks did exhaust a considerable amount of draft capital to acquire forward Mikal Bridges. Kidd reportedly interviewed with the Knicks in 2020, but Thibodeau got the job. Thibodeau led the Knicks to their first Eastern Conference finals berth since 2000. The Indiana Pacers eliminated New York in six games. Kidd spent the final season of his lengthy NBA career with the Knicks. Prior to taking the Mavs' head coaching job, Kidd had coaching stints with the Nets and the Bucks.
