AP to hold Quantum Valley workshop on June 30
At a curtain-raiser event here on Wednesday, IT secretary Katamneni Bhaskar said that Quantum Valley will leverage quantum computing to address complex issues at unprecedented speeds compared to conventional computers. The facility will benefit sectors such as higher education, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and more, while fostering research and job creation. It will align with the National Quantum Mission's guidelines.
Secretary to the Chief Minister P S Pradyumna, said quantum computing will revolutionise data accuracy across industries. He noted Andhra Pradesh's potential to lead in quantum computing, with the upcoming workshop set to release the 'Amaravati Declaration.'
Prof Anil Prabhakar, a quantum computing expert and member of the National Quantum Mission, explained that quantum computing differs significantly from classical computing. Major IT firms are already investing in it for applications like pharmaceutical research, EV batteries, logistics, route optimisation, image classification, stock market analysis, and cybersecurity. He stated that Quantum Valley in Amaravati will support research institutes, IT companies, and startups.
Amit Sighee, director of IBM's Research Wing, revealed that India ranks second globally in quantum computing adoption. IBM, collaborating with the Andhra Pradesh government, aims to develop its Starling quantum computing system by 2029.
Vijayarao, LTI Mindtree Lead, underscored quantum computing's transformative potential in banking, finance, logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, healthcare, risk analysis, and cryptography. LTI Mindtree, IBM, and TCS are partnering with the Andhra Pradesh government to develop Quantum Valley in Amaravati.

CM directs mango pulp units to support farmers amid price slump
Tirupati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu urged farmers and pulp unit owners to set aside differences and work together to resolve the mango crisis. They also appealed for GST on mango pulp to drop from 12% to 5%. Naidu said he had written to the central government and would follow up. Andhra CM Naidu visits Kuppam; announces completion of Handri Neeva irrigation project this year
TIRUPATI: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced that the Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) lift irrigation extension project, taken up at a cost of Rs 3,890 crore in a single phase, is now nearing completion. Irrigation water will reach the last acre in Kuppam within this year, bringing a long-awaited boost to agriculture in the region, he said. Taking part in Praja Vedika in his Kuppam Assembly constituency on Wednesday, Naidu emphasised that development works worth Rs 1,292 crore are currently underway in it. He highlighted that a State-wide campaign is in progress to ensure all highways are made pothole-free. The Chief Minister said four companies have signed MoUs with the government to implement skill-training programmes for Kuppam youth. Additionally, agreements have been finalised for industrial investments amounting to Rs 1,617 crore, the projects are expected to catalyse job creation and regional growth. A major technological medical support platform, the AI-powered 'Digital Nerve System' developed in collaboration with Tata Group, will be introduced in Kuppam to enhance rural healthcare. The system is designed to connect remote villagers to super-specialist doctors virtually from their homes, with tangible results expected within the next three months, he said. As part of welfare initiatives, Naidu distributed newly sanctioned social security pensions to 3,041 beneficiaries. Under the upgraded Deepam 2.0 scheme, 1,000 women received free LPG gas cylinders, and Naidu proudly declared that every household in Kuppam constituency now has access to cooking gas.
