JJ Lin Braves Heavy Rain To Perform For 50k Fans At Bukit Jalil Stadium

Hype Malaysia13-05-2025

No rain can stop Mandopop icon JJ Lin (林俊杰)! The singer recently concluded his long-awaited 'Final Lap' concert in Kuala Lumpur, where 50,000 fans sang and danced their hearts out under the pouring rain.
On 10th May (Saturday), JJ Lin performed at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium for his 'Final Lap' concert in Kuala Lumpur. The sold-out show is the star's first local performance in over two years, so it's no surprise that the crowd was excited throughout the night. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't cooperating, and it started raining heavily halfway through the concert. Some fans pulled out their raincoats and even went into sheltered areas to avoid the downpour.
However, the singer wasn't going to let the rain stop him, and he braved the weather to continue performing for his fans. At one point, he even shouted out, 'I will be with you' to his fans out of gratitude for them standing under the pouring rain to watch him perform. Despite the slippery conditions of the stage, JJ Lin continued running and dancing around the stage, winning over the crowd with his dedication to his performance.
Malaysian singer Rynn Lim (林宇中) was also at the show as the concert's special guest. The singer sparked laughter when he kneeled in front of JJ Lin, saying he felt guilty about the pouring rain. However, after Rynn promised to 'stop' the rain, the downpour gradually subsided, which surprised fans at the stadium. During the concert, the two stars spoke fondly about their friendship and performed their 2020 duet track, 'Rose'.
The concert reportedly attracted fans from other countries, including China and Singapore. JJ Lin's mother was also in attendance, allowing the singer to celebrate Mother's Day with her in KL. Following the rollercoaster of a show, JJ Lin took to Instagram to share his gratitude for his fans. In his post, the singer wrote, 'I was deeply moved by the wave of 50,000 of you – drenched, but still singing and dancing your hearts out.'
The concert surely seemed like a night to remember! We can't wait for JJ Lin to return to Malaysia – and hopefully, the weather will be kinder when that time comes.

Megan, half-Singaporean member of global girl group Katseye, comes out as bisexual

Megan shared that she realised she was attracted to women as early as the age of eight. -- PHOTO: MEGANSKIENDIEL/INSTAGRAM SINGAPORE/SEOUL (Korea Herald/ANN): Megan, a member of the global girl group Katseye, has publicly come out as bisexual. During a live broadcast on fan platform Weverse with fellow member Lara on June 6, the 19-year-old shared her identity with fans, stating: 'I'm coming out. I'm bisexual.' The two celebrated the moment together, jumping in place with joy. Megan, who has a Singaporean-Chinese mother and American-Swedish father, debuted in the US with the six-member group in 2024. This marks the second coming out within the group. Back in March, Lara revealed her sexual orientation through a Weverse live broadcast. She shared that she realised she was attracted to women as early as the age of eight, and confessed that she was deeply afraid when auditioning. 'I didn't know if people would accept me. I was scared it might ruin my chances,' she wrote at the time. With both Lara and Megan now openly identifying as members of the LGBTQ+ community, Katseye stands out as a rare example of queer representation in the K-pop scene. The sextet is a multinational and multi-ethnic K-pop girl group formed by South Korean entertainment company Hybe in collaboration with American label Geffen Records. The group will return with its second EP Beautiful Chaos on May 27. -- THE KOREA HERALD/ASIA NEWS NETWORK

#NSTviral: Malaysian landmarks recreated in Minecraft, draw widespread praise

KUALA LUMPUR: Photos of iconic Malaysian landmarks built on the gaming platform Minecraft have been making the rounds on Malaysian spaces across the social media application Reddit. User @tovarisch_ak posted a progress update on a personal Minecraft project yesterday, showcasing various Malaysian historical landmarks digitally recreated in impressive detail. Photos featured include the Ubudiah Mosque and mausoleum in Kuala Kangsar, Perak; the Kuala Lumpur Library; the Victoria Fountain in Melaka; and Masjid Ihsaniah Iskandariah in Padang Rengas, Perak. Shared across several Malaysia-centric communities on the platform, the posts have received widespread praise for their detail and have prompted questions about the construction process. "I did use a 1957 map of Kuala Lumpur for the initial reference and to get the scale right, but then I used pictures and Street View to build them," the social media user explained in the comments, adding that the buildings were created at a 1:5 scale rather than 1:1. Further posts on the user's page also showcased a digital version of Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad in Kuala Lumpur.
