300 MW solar plant sealed in Khandwa by district administration
The operation was carried out late Friday night by a special inquiry team constituted by Collector Rishav Gupta. The investigation was launched after a complaint was filed with the Indore Divisional Commissioner. The probe uncovered that the solar plant was set up on lands of tribal farmers in Dharampuri, Kanwani, Bhavsinghpura, Badgaon Mali, and Sivna, villages without adhering to due legal procedures.
"The company commenced production after establishing the plant on tribal farmers' land without obtaining proper legal permissions.
This is completely improper and illegal," said Gupta.
The investigation further revealed that in some instances, land belonging to Scheduled Caste individuals was acquired under duress. Moreover, land belonging to many Scheduled Tribe farmers was transferred without adequate compensation. Disturbingly, there were also allegations where farmers' illiteracy was exploited, and money was withdrawn from their bank accounts.

According to the Collector, the company also managed to get land diverted for industrial use based solely on possession, even in cases where mutation in the land records (khasra) did not take place. This constitutes a direct violation of the Madhya Pradesh Land Revenue Code.
The Masaya Solar Energy Company was also found to have illegally occupied approximately 27.64 hectares (around 60 acres) of land, including that categorised as 'charanoi' (grazing land), 'nala' (drainage), roads, and small forest areas, taken over without any lease or proper acquisition.
Collector Gupta has directed that the solar plant's operations would remain suspended until the lease or formal allocation process is duly completed. The machinery present at the plant has been sealed as part of the action.
The investigation also brought to light allegations of collusion involving former and some administrative officials in facilitating these illegal activities. There are complaints accusing these officials of accepting bribes amounting to lakhs of rupees.
"A high-level investigation will also be conducted against the officers under whose supervision these illegal encroachments occurred. Their assets will also be investigated," the Collector said.
The plant's construction began in 2020, and electricity production reportedly commenced in 2022 without the necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs). Around 35 tribal farmers from five villages in the region had their land acquired by the company, and their cases reached the revenue department. Notably, there were no protests against these acquisitions until now.

Car thief dupes sellers on OLX, arrested in Karauli
Jaipur: A 27-year-old serial car thief who used the OLX platform to dupe unsuspecting sellers was arrested by Jaipur East Police after a 150-kilometre chase that ended in Karauli. The accused, Balveer Singh Meena, allegedly contacted car owners under the pretext of buying used vehicles and vanished during trial runs. He later sold the stolen cars to scrap dealers at cut-rate prices to fund his personal indulgences. According to DCP (East) Tejaswini Gautam, the accused stole a silver WagonR (RJ14CA5688) on July 20 from a house in Siddharth Nagar. The vehicle was listed for sale on OLX. A man identifying himself as "Raju" arrived at the residence, expressed interest in purchasing the vehicle, requested a trial run—and never returned. The complaint was registered at Airport Police Station under case number 124/25, invoking Sections 318(4) and 303(2) of the BNS. A police team led by additional DCP Asharam Choudhary, ACP Aditya Poonia, and SHO Sandeep Basera launched a search. He operated by scouring old car listings on OLX, contacting owners via WhatsApp using mobile phones stolen from inebriated individuals outside liquor shops, and arranging test drives. After stealing the vehicles, he would discard the phones in isolated areas and dispose of the cars through online scrap contacts, accepting cash. The accused, who was also arrested for a similar offence in Bharuch, Gujarat, three years ago, is currently in custody and being interrogated for further leads. Investigators are probing his wider network and suspect more thefts may be linked to him. Police said efforts are underway to recover additional stolen vehicles and identify the scrap dealers who bought them.

Metro installing energy efficient lifts, escalators
1 2 3 4 Kanpur: The Kanpur Metro Rail Project's Corridor-1 (IIT to Naubasta) was extended from IIT Kanpur to Kanpur Central in two phases. Now, preparations are in full swing for the third phase to further extend services up to Naubasta. As part of this phase, installation work of lifts and escalators is progressing swiftly at seven stations between Kanpur Central and Naubasta, namely Jhakarkati, Transport Nagar, Baradevi, Kidwai Nagar, Basant Vihar, Baudh Nagar, and Naubasta. Among these, Jhakarkati and Transport Nagar are underground stations, while the remaining five--Baradevi, Kidwai Nagar, Basant Vihar, Baudh Nagar, and Naubasta--are elevated. Notably, all lifts and escalators being installed at these stations are being manufactured in India under the 'Make in India' initiative. As part of the balance section of Corridor-1 (Kanpur Central to Naubasta), a total of 23 escalators and 26 lifts are being installed to facilitate passenger movement from station entry points to the concourse level and from the concourse to the platform level. The installation work is already underway. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 20 Signs That A Heart Attack Is Imminent Learn It Wise Undo Each underground station will have 3 lifts and 4 escalators, while each elevated station will be equipped with 4 lifts and 3 escalators. So far, 11 out of the planned 23 escalators and 10 out of the 26 lifts were installed across all seven stations. Load testing is also being conducted alongside the installation of these systems. All lifts and escalators being used in the Kanpur Metro project were manufactured in Chennai, India under the 'Make in India' initiative. A key feature of these systems is their eco-friendliness. The lifts use regenerative braking technology that helps conserve energy. The smart escalators are designed to automatically pause when not in use for a certain period, further supporting energy conservation. From a safety standpoint, each escalator is equipped with three emergency stop buttons for quick shutdown in case of emergencies. These escalators also provide automatic announcements advising passengers to hold the handrail for their safety. Managing director of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (UPMRC), Sushil Kumar, said, "Kanpur Metro team is fully committed to extending passenger services from Kanpur Central to Naubasta. To optimise time, system installations are being carried out in parallel with civil construction at all stations. All lifts and escalators installed are being manufactured domestically under the 'Make in India' initiative. Our entire team and contracting agencies are working with strong determination and meticulous planning to achieve our goal."
