'It's time to bring it all back home for the last show,' he wrote on Instagram.
The 'I Swear' singer added that he 'can't think of a better place' to play his last show than Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky – his home state.
The show is set for Dec. 12, with tickets officially going on sale Friday.
Montgomery wrote that 'some very special guests' would be joining him for the performance.

Eddie Montgomery, his brother and member of country duo Montgomery Gentry, son Walker Montgomery and son-in-law Travis Denning are all set to join him.
He originally announced his retirement in a Facebook post shared last year on New Year's Day, telling his followers, 'I hope everyone enjoyed bringing in 2024 and may it be a wonderful one for all my friends out there. For me it will be the start of my farewell tour as I have decided to wind down my touring career over this year and 2025.'
He continued, 'It's been a wonderful run for me from the beginning over 30 years ago in 1992 when my first song LIFE's A DANCE was released to radio I think either as a 45 vinyl or on a cassette tape, CDs had not quite taken over the market yet and the internet was still in its infancy. It amazes me where it is today.'

The country star, known for hits like 'Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)' and 'Be My Baby Tonight,' said that he'd been 'fortunate and blessed to be able to do what I love for so many years.'
Montgomery hit the country scene in 1992 with his first album, 'Life's a Dance,' which went triple platinum.
The follow-up album, 'Kickin' It Up,' was released two years later, and became even more successful, going quadruple platinum – a feat accomplished again by his third album, 1995's self-titled release.

Seven of his singles made it to the number-one spot on the country charts, and a dozen others broke the top ten.
Over his career, he won four Academy of Country Music Awards, two Country Music Association Awards and was nominated for three Grammys.
Last August, his son, Walker, gave some insight into his decision to retire.

'I think he deserves it. It's been 30 years,' he told Taste of Country. 'People don't realize how tough the road is, especially back in the '90s … As he says, they'd bring a gallon of whiskey on the road with them and it would be gone by Sunday. It was a totally different kind of touring. It was tough on him.'
When Walker was asked what his famous father plans on doing in retirement, he laughed and answered, 'He bought a camper. I'm sure it will just be a phase.'
'He wants to go down to Florida, sit on the camper, and do whatever,' he said. 'He doesn't even want to park it at the beach, but rather sit inland in it.'
3 Montgomery's final show will happen at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.

Montgomery himself may have recently shared a hint as to what else might keep him occupied after he moves on from music – on July 15, he shared that he'd recently become a grandfather.
'I am a Grandpa!' he wrote on Instagram. 'Say hello to Charlotte!'
He shared a photo of himself and his wife, Crystal White, with the newborn, along with a picture of himself holding his new granddaughter.

Israeli music legend Efraim Shamir brought in for police questioning
Efraim Shamir, famous for his work in the popular Israeli rock band Kaveret, is believed to be under suspicion of incitement to terrorism and violence against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Israeli singer Efraim Shamir has been brought in for questioning by the Israel Police national crime unit Lahav 443, the police announced Wednesday. Shamir, famous for his work in the popular Israeli rock band Kaveret, is believed to be under suspicion of incitement to terrorism and violence against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Speaking to Maariv, Shamir's lawyer, Yair Nahorai, said that his client denies the accusations and is against violence of any kind. Some reports have alleged that Shamir made a post on social media about Netanyahu, saying, "A lying son of a liar must die." Regarding this, Nahorai said they would respond to these accusations after Shamir is finished speaking with the police. A history of controversy on social media Speaking to Ynet, Shamir said he didn't know why he was being questioned. The singer is known for his controversial and argumentative social media posts and openly negative view of Netanyahu and the current government. For example, in 2019, when Nechama Rivlin, the wife of then-president Reuven Rivlin, passed away, Shamir posted on social media "Why not Sara?" in reference to the prime minister's Sara Netanyahu. Speaking to Ynet, he suggested there may be a connection between his online activity and his being called in for questioning. "It may be because of posts on Facebook, but I really don't know," he told Ynet. This is a developing story. Solve the daily Crossword

Fact Check: Claim Paul McCartney visited Phil Collins in hospital hits a bum note
Claim: In early August 2025, former member of The Beatles Paul McCartney visited musician Phil Collins in a hospital and performed "Hey Jude" for him. Rating: In early August 2025, a rumor circulated online that The Beatles legend Paul McCartney visited Genesis drummer and frontman Phil Collins in a London hospital and performed "Hey Jude" for him on his guitar. For example, on Aug. 3, a Facebook page called Rock & Roll Universe shared the claim (archived), amassing more than 88,000 reactions and more than 16,000 shares of its post as of this writing. The post featured two images of McCartney embracing Collins in what appeared to be a hospital room and another showing the former Beatle playing guitar while the Genesis star was resting in a hospital bed surrounded by medical staff. The caption read: This afternoon, London's hospital halls fell unusually silent as Paul McCartney quietly arrived, carrying the same old guitar that had followed him through decades. On the fifth floor, Phil Collins lay still — frail and pale after months battling severe complications from spinal and heart conditions. As Paul entered the room, Phil's eyes slowly opened, his lips trembling without sound. Without a word, Paul sat down and began to strum "Hey Jude" — gently, with deep emotion. Each lyric poured warmth into the sterile room, moving the nurses to tears, while a single tear slid down Phil's cheek. When the final chord faded, Paul took his old friend's hand and whispered, "We're still a band, even if the only stage left is life itself." The story has since spread among musicians like a final love song between two legends. (Rock & Roll Universe/Facebook) The rumor appeared elsewhere on Facebook (archived) and on Instagram (archived). Some posts featured links in top comments leading to articles hosted by WordPress blogs, such as one advertisement-filled story hosted on a website called Snopes readers also emailed us to ask whether the claim was true, with one noting that the social media posts contained "suspicious-looking images." However, searches of Bing (archived), DuckDuckGo (archived) and Google produced no evidence of any news media outlets reporting on a story about McCartney visiting Collins in a hospital and serenading him with "Hey Jude." Prominent news media outlets would have widely reported this moment if it were true. Rather, the person or people who wrote the story fabricated the entire tale as one of hundreds of inspirational tales about music legends. They aimed to earn advertising revenue on websites linked from the aforementioned Facebook posts. As we will lay out later in this article, the story about McCartney visiting Collins in hospital amounted to fiction. An examination of the Rock & Roll Universe (archived) Facebook page's posts revealed multiple indications of images and text generated using artificial intelligence (AI) software. For example, one post (archived) featured an image of singer-songwriter Bob Dylan singing on Collins' bedside. However, Sightengine, an AI-detection website, determined that there was a 99% probability that someone "likely" generated the image with AI. There were also signs that the image of McCartney playing the guitar was AI-generated. First, he was holding the instrument as if he were right-handed, despite being known to play left-handed (archived). Second, the guitar only had five strings, despite acoustic guitars having six strings. In addition, McCartney's right hand only appeared to have three fingers and a thumb. Snopes contacted a manager of the Rock & Roll Universe Facebook page to ask about the fictional stories displayed on its feed and we will update this story if we receive more information. Separately, Snopes also reached out to Collins' representatives to inquire about his current health status. In late July 2025, People magazine reported (archived) that he was recovering from knee surgery, though it did not specify whether he remained hospitalized. We will update this article if we receive a response. These stories all very much resembled glurge, which defines as "stories, often sent by email, that are supposed to be true and uplifting, but which are often fabricated and sentimental."
