Hyderabad top cop cautions cow vigilantes in the city ahead of Bakrid
Commissioner of Hyderabad Police C.V. Anand on Friday warned that strict action would be taken against anyone posting videos of cattle killings on social media ahead of the Bakrid festival. He also cautioned against any unauthorised action at city check posts, promising cooperation from the Hyderabad Police to address concerns around cattle protection.
Chairing a coordination meeting with gauseva (cow protection) groups at Basheerbagh, he urged activists to avoid taking the law into their own hands. 'Report to us. Don't act on your own,' Anand said, advising the public to share credible information, including photos, videos or alerts, directly with the police control room at 8712661155.
The meeting was attended by Additional CP (Law and Order) Vikram Singh Mann and representatives from Gauseva groups including the Yuga Thulasi Foundation, Gorakshak Dal Telangana, Akhil Bharatiya Gau Seva Foundation, Bharatiya Prani Mitra Sangh, and Love for Cow Foundation.
Cow protection representatives reaffirmed their commitment to preventing cruelty towards cattle, stressing the moral and environmental importance of cow protection. Concerns were raised over disturbing social media posts depicting cattle killings, with demands for strict legal action against offenders. The police assured full support while calling for restraint and legal compliance from all groups involved.

Increase vigil against illegal cow transportation: Nandyal SP
Superintendent of Police Adhiraj Singh Rana has directed the police to be vigilant against illegal transportation of cows ahead of the Bakrid festival. Mr. Rana asked the officials of the four sub-divisions in the district police jurisdiction to set up check posts and take up round-the-clock and thorough checks of vehicles to curb illegal transportation of cows. He also directed them to take steps to stop slaughter of cow at places of worship and keep a vigil. He asked police officials to form peace committees at all police station jurisdictions and ensure that the festival passes off peacefully.

Eid al-Azha: Haryana police to intensify social media monitoring, deploy more cops
The Haryana police have issued guidelines to maintain law and order across the state in view of the Eid al-Azha (Bakrid) festival, which will be celebrated on June 6 or 7, depending on the visibility of the crescent moon. State police headquarters has instructed all police commissioners, superintendents of police, and field units to remain vigilant and ensure communal harmony. Shatrujeet Kapur, Director-General of Police, Haryana, has issued detailed instructions to all the district police chiefs to initiate steps for maintaining law and order and communal harmony during the festival. The district police chiefs are instructed to monitor social media posts and take stern action against anyone posting inflammatory content or any other content violative of the law. Shatrujeet Kapur emphasised that 'maintaining peace, law, and order in the state is of utmost priority, and officers have been directed to ensure a harmonious atmosphere at all costs'. The DGP's office has directed that 'meetings with peace committees be held at the district level and that advance monitoring of the law and order situation be ensured. It must be ensured that no untoward incident occurs during the festival'. The order further states that 'special attention must be paid to the activities of anti-social elements and individuals who may attempt to disturb communal harmony. All sensitive areas should be identified, and special security arrangements must be ensured there'. 'Instructions have been given for adequate deployment of police personnel and for setting up checkpoints at religious places and sensitive areas to ensure swift response in case of any emergency. All intelligence units across the state have been instructed to remain active and provide timely, accurate, and effective inputs so that police forces can take prompt action. During the festival, monitoring of social media platforms will be intensified. Strict legal action will be taken against those posting inflammatory content or violating the law,' the order issued by the DGP's office read. 'Senior officers deployed in the field have been instructed to brief the police force properly before deployment and to personally supervise the situation on the ground. It must also be ensured by the officers that all instructions are fully complied with,' a police spokesperson said in a statement.
