Japan: NTT showcases cutting-edge technology at Osaka Kansai World Expo
At the event, leading Japanese Information and Communication Technology firm NTT presented its cutting-edge IOWN technology.
This technology enabled seamless, real-time communication between Japan and Taiwan, offering high capacity and enhanced energy efficiency.
NTT also contributed to a digital adaptation of the Kabuki play Senbon Zakura ("A Thousand Cherry Trees"), which featured a fusion of the virtual performer Hatsune Miku with live stage actors.
Katsuhiko Kawazoe, Senior Executive Vice President, NTT, said "This digital Kabuki performance marks its 10th show since it began in 2016. At that time, most of the audience consisted of elderly viewers. To spark interest in Kabuki among younger generations, NTT proposed a performance enhanced by its advanced technology. I will never forget the first event in 2016. Many young people gathered, primarily to see the digital character Hatsune Miku. But after the performance, many of them were moved to tears. I asked one group, "Was it impressive?" They replied, "I realized I was deeply moved by Kabuki itself--that's why I wept." I will never forget that response. It confirmed for me that young people can indeed be emotionally touched by Kabuki when allowed to experience it in a way that resonates with them".
The most advanced performance featured a simultaneous, collaborative presentation by Japan and Taiwan, with real performers and virtual characters appearing together on a single screen.
Ordinarily, internet connections introduce a delay of several seconds. However, thanks to IOWN technology, this performance was achieved with no noticeable delay.
Katsuhiko Kawazoe, Senior Executive Vice President, NTT, said, "I recognise that it was successful in reducing network delay and overcoming the limitations of distance. In addition, a key goal of IOWN development is to help protect the global environment by reducing energy consumption to one-hundredth of current levels--this is the ultimate objective. At the Expo, NTT incorporated this technology and successfully reduced energy usage to one-eighth of conventional levels."

Osaka: The India Pavilion-Bharat at the World Expo 2025 Osaka attracted over 20,000 visitors on Saturday, as people came to witness the richness of India's cultural heritage, space achievements, and handicrafts, among several other experiences offered at the pavilion. The Pavilion was also visited by Dr HC Nik Gugger, member of the Swiss National Council and President of the Swiss-India Parliamentarian group, along with his family. The Indian Embassy in Japan shared that the visitors immersed themselves in the enchanting blend of India's culture, innovation, and timeless wellness. It mentioned how the visitors experienced a calming evening yoga session-- embracing India's age-old journey towards holistic wellness, balance, and inner tranquillity. In a unique zone named, 'Chandrayaan Zone', the visitors were left fascinated with India's pioneering achievements in space exploration and its trailblazing lunar missions. The One District One Product Zone showcased Walnut Wood Carving from the state of Jammu & Kashmir, Silver Filigree (Tarakashi Art) from Cuttack in the State of Odisha. Previously, cultural performances such as Kathak to a Bollywood dance performance had bewitched the visitors. "A spellbinding Kathak performance by Nalini Toshniwal and Ruchika Dance Academy enthralled visitors at the India Pavilion - Bharat - at Osaka Expo", the Embassy said. India and Japan share a 'Special Strategic and Global Partnership'. The friendship between the two countries has a long history rooted in spiritual affinity and strong cultural and civilizational ties.

Sayyid Theyazin to unveil Oman pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka
Muscat – H H Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, will inaugurate the Sultanate of Oman's pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka on Sunday. The pavilion will host over 33 events between April 6 and October 13, marking Oman's latest international showcase. Titled 'Extended Connections', the pavilion's concept is inspired by Oman's geographical and environmental diversity. It reflects the historical adaptation of the Omani people to their landscape through the interlinked elements of land, water, and people. The design was selected through the Belarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design. H H Sayyid Theyazin al Said-Osaka Oman's participation in Expo 2025 is centred around six key themes: Communication and interaction, tourism, investment opportunities, cultural identity, international relations, and partnerships. These focus areas align with the country's long-term development strategies under Oman Vision 2040. 'Participation in Expo 2025 Osaka offers an important platform to promote cultural and technological exchange with other nations,' the organisers said. It aims to highlight Oman's economic and social development while preserving and promoting its cultural heritage. The pavilion will offer visitors a highly interactive experience, incorporating extended reality and artificial intelligence tools across its content. A dedicated digital platform will include ten main features: The Visual Exhibition, Virtual Theatre, Audio Arts Exhibition, Made in Oman showcase, Discover Oman section, Omani Technology Companies Centre, Virtual Innovation Centre, SME Exhibition, Virtual Education Opportunities Exhibition, and a Humanitarian Diplomacy Portal. The Expo in Osaka is expected to attract global attention, with Oman's participation reflecting its ongoing efforts to strengthen international presence and partnerships through cultural diplomacy and technological innovation.
