Hades 2 Gets Longest Patch Notes Ever In Last Major Update Before 1.0 Launch Finally Arrives Later This Year
'Expect Hades II to get bigger and better with the addition of a new Hidden Aspect for each of the Nocturnal Arms, a new variation of every Guardian encounter, expanded relationships with a number of key characters, lots of new visual flourishes, and much more,' Greg Kasavin, creative director at Hades developer Supergiant Games, wrote on the game's Discord on Tuesday. 'After more than a year of Early Access development, we're now starting to prepare for our v1.0 launch! The final phase of Hades II development involves adding the story's true ending and other finishing touches. Some additional details are in the in-game Development Roadmap.'
A dramatic reading of the new patch notes runs over 38 minutes and includes things like revamping The Flames of Ygnium for snappier combat, new final forms for Nocturnal Arms, and enemies spawning in faster during waves to limit downtime. Probably most noticeable at the outset is that Narcissus has an actual 3D model, animations, and an updated portrait now. No more being self-obsessed with placeholder art. The game's main menu has also been updated to state that the next update will coincide with the 1.0 launch on PC, Switch 1, and Switch 2 (PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S will come later).
While Hades 2 is confirmed to be coming out in full sometime in 2025, Supergiant Games isn't ready to reveal the exact timing just yet, and I wouldn't necessarily be surprised if it slips to 2026. 'We really appreciate your patience on this,' Kasavin wrote. 'Sometimes the last stretch of development on a game can make all the difference, so we have always taken this phase seriously and appreciate your continued support.' We also don't know what the final price will be. Hades 2 is currently $30 on Steam ($27 with the current 10 percent discount), but it could go up to $40 once it's out on consoles.
The action roguelite is launching simultaneously on both Switch 1 and Switch 2, with improved visual fidelity and framerate on the newer hardware. Supergiant hasn't confirmed yet whether that 'next-gen' upgrade will cost more or be a free upgrade. Hollow Knight: Silksong, another sequel to a critically acclaimed indie action game, is also set to arrive later this year. I can only pray that both sides are talking to one another and not planning to shadowdrop on the same day.

Comcast Profit Jumps 183% on $9.4 Billion Sale of Hulu Stake
Comcast Corporation saw a substantial net income lift in the second quarter of 2025, owing to the sale of its Hulu share to Disney. Net income was reported as $11.1 billion on Thursday thanks to the $9.4 billion the company received from the sale. Revenue also increased 2.1% over the quarter to hit $30.3 billion. This was partially due to growth in the company's Content and Experiences division, which saw a 6% uptick in revenue due to the opening of Universal's latest Orlando theme park, Epic Universe. Connectivity revenue also increased 5.4% due to growth in domestic broadband and wireless as well as international connectivity and business services connectivity. More from TheWrap Comcast Profit Jumps 183% on $9.4 Billion Sale of Hulu Stake 'South Park' Season 27 Premiere Nabs Almost 6 Million Viewers Across Platforms, Biggest Linear Share Since 1999 'Superman' Soars as the No. 1 Title Audiences Are Most Excited About for 7th Consecutive Week | Chart Paramount Needs 'South Park' — Despite the Ridicule and $1.5 Billion Price Tag | Analysis As for the television and film side of the business, media EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) increased 9.3% year over year to hit $1.5 billion. This uptick was largely driven by Peacock, which increased its revenue by 18% to hit $1.2 billion during the quarter, as well as decreases in programming and production costs. Peacock's EBITDA losses also accounted for $101 million, a $247 million improvement from the year prior. The studios division saw a EBITDA decrease of 31%, accounting for $85 million. Despite seeing an 8% increase in revenue over the quarter, higher operating expenses led to the overall decline. Specifically, those expenses reflected higher costs connected to content licensing sales as well as higher marketing andpromotion expenses that were spent on both recent and upcoming theatrical film releases. Two of the company's buzziest movies — the live action 'How to Train Your Dragon' and 'Jurassic World: Rebirth' — premiered in summer, which partially accounted for the increased costs. The profits from both of those movies will likely be better reflected in Comcast's third quarter report. Here are the key takeaways: Net income: $11.1 billion, up 183% year over year. On an adjusted basis, net income fell 1.7% to $4.65 billion. Earnings per share: $2.98 per share, compared to $4.06 per share expected by analysts surveyed by Yahoo Finance. Revenue: $30.3 billion, compared to $123.6 billion expected by analysts surveyed by Yahoo Finance. The latest quarterly results come as Comcast is preparing to spin off its cable network portfolio into a publicly traded, standalone company called Versant by the end of 2025. Versant, which is expected to reach over 65 million U.S. households and generate $7 billion in annual revenue, will house MSNBC, CNBC, USA Network, Oxygen, E!, SYFY, Golf Channel and digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow and SportsEngine. The move will be tax-free to Comcast's shareholders. Last week, Versant unveiled its full board of directors, which will include its CEO Mark Lazarus, former Yum Brands! CEO David Novak as chairman and Disney's former international content and operations chairman Rebecca Campbell, among others. It also comes as NBCUniversal recently closed its upfront negotiations, touting a nearly 15% year over year increase in ad commitments across its broadcast offerings, including news, sports and entertainment. It also said it was the largest digital upfront and strongest sports upfront in history, though it offered no hard numbers. Versant, which will continue to be represented by NBCU in the next two upfront cycles, saw a nearly 10% increase in clients investing in its brands, while Peacock saw an over 20% year over year increase, representing nearly a third of the media giant's total upfront commitments. The company's new 11-year media rights deal with the NBA contributed to a 20% increase in new clients compared to the 2024-2025 season and a 45% year over year increase in volume. Over 25% of NBCUniversal's NBA advertisers will be new to broadcast this year. Peacock has hiked the price of its plans by $3 per month, with its premium plan hitting $10.99 per month and premium plus plan hitting $16.99 per month. The change took effect for new customers on July 23 and will impact existing customers on Aug. 22. It also is testing a $7.99 per month Select tier, which will feature current seasons of NBC and Bravo programming and a broad assortment of library titles. AI may be raising your bills, even if you never use it
We've heard a lot about the power-hungry nature of AI data centers, with all of your ChatGPT inputs — or whatever AI tools you use — requiring a huge amount of energy to fulfill. And now some folks are feeling the effects of it in their pocket, too, even though they may not even be using AI. Recommended Videos With all of the extra computer processing power required to keep AI services ticking along, millions of people living close to some of these data centers are starting to see their monthly electric bills go up by a significant amount, the Washington Post reported. 'In Trenton, New Jersey, the bill for a typical home rose $26,' the Post said by way of example. 'In Philadelphia, it increased about $17. In Pittsburgh, it went up $10. And in Columbus, Ohio, it spiked $27.' The report attributed the rise to the boom in data centers, which besides AI also support cloud computing services. Tech companies building the data centers include the likes of Meta, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon, with residential customers understandably unhappy about having to pay more for their electricity while these behemoths continue to rake in billions of dollars. 'We're seeing every region of the country experience really significant data center load growth,' energy markets expert Abe Silverman told the Post, adding that the situation is 'putting enormous upward pressure on prices, both for transmission and for generation.' So, what can be done? Energy regulators across the country could, for example, follow Ohio's example and force the tech giants to pay extra to fund grid modernization so that it's better able to handle the extra power demanded by their data centers. Meanwhile, the companies involved are promising to build more efficient data centers that need less power to function, which could go some way to stabilizing electric bills while also being kinder to the environment. Google, for example, is aiming to open more efficient data centers, all of which run entirely on carbon-free energy by 2030, thereby lowering costs while minimizing its reliance on fossil fuels. What's clear is that the rapid growth of AI infrastructure is now bringing to the fore the urgent need for sustainable practices and comprehensive policies to deal with the technology's environmental and social impact. But with so many factors at play when it comes to electricity supply, it's too early to say to what extent regular folks' electric bills will be affected.
