Youth Engine
TDT | Manama Public-private model to power national talent Bahrain is building a structured national framework to embed youth empowerment into the country's longterm development, Minister of Youth Affairs Her Excellency Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi said on Tuesday. She unveiled a new institutional approach that connects government bodies with private sector partners. Chairing a high-level meeting of the Youth Empowerment Committee at Youth City 2030, the minister said the National Youth Empowerment Strategy 2023 to 2028 is moving into its next phase. This phase prioritises sustainable, system-wide support for young Bahraini talent. She called for a coordinated, cross-sector pipeline to channel youth potential into innovation, entrepreneurship, and national productivity. This, the minister said, will be achieved by fostering joint initiatives and codifying partnerships that translate aspirations into structured outcomes. Structured Strategy 'The future we are preparing for must be built with youth as active partners today,' the minister noted. She highlighted the importance of designing programmes that reflect young people's evolving ambitions. Tawfiqi said sustainable results could only be achieved through institutional mechanisms that link ministries, businesses, training bodies, and civil society. This ensures young people are not just participants but decision-makers in shaping Bahrain's future. The meeting spotlighted the role of the Youth Empowerment Committee in coordinating such efforts and affirmed its commitment to opening development pathways across industries. Digital Tools, Real Results Officials reviewed standout outcomes from Youth City 2030 programmes, including success stories in skills training, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Emphasis was placed on extending these results nationwide through continuous collaboration with private companies and NGOs. The ministry also introduced its new digital platform that streamlines access to youth programmes. The site offers real-time registration, opportunity tracking, and customised guidance. This allows young Bahrainis to take charge of their development paths more easily than ever before. In her closing remarks, Tawfiqi underscored the ministry's goal and said it is focused on preparing a generation not just to succeed but to lead.

Bahrain Asserts Balance
TDT | Manama Bahrain reaffirmed its unwavering support for global peace and legal order yesterday, as its parliamentary delegation addressed a high-level meeting on the sidelines of the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva. The session, held under the theme 'Upholding the UN Charter and International Law to Ensure Global Peace and Security,' was hosted by H.E. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, and convened by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). Representing Bahrain were H.E. MP Abdulnabi Salman Ahmed, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and H.E. Dr. Bassam Ismail Al Binmohammed, member of the Shura Council's Foreign Affairs, Defence, and National Security Committee. Balanced Diplomacy The Bahraini delegation underscored the Kingdom's principled foreign policy, rooted in respect for the UN Charter, pursuit of political solutions, and promotion of multilateral diplomacy. They reiterated Bahrain's belief in international law as the true guarantor of collective security and stability. This approach, they noted, reflects the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, particularly in supporting peace, mutual respect, and regional cooperation. UN Council Role The delegation highlighted that Bahrain's election to the UN Security Council for the 2026– 2027 term is a direct result of its growing international standing and balanced engagement. They described it as a rare opportunity to amplify voices of moderation and reinforce global legal norms from within the world's top decision-making forum. The parliamentarians further stressed that the legislative authority, through its active parliamentary diplomacy, fully supports Bahrain's foreign policy and global peace efforts, including the incorporation of international legal principles into national legislation. Parliamentary Presence Bahrain's presence at such forums, they added, reflects its commitment to constructive global engagement and the strengthening of human values. The delegation welcomed initiatives that broaden parliamentary participation in international peacebuilding and reaffirmed Bahrain's support for legal multilateralism. The Geneva forum runs through July 31.

Bahrain Strengthens Global Parliamentary Diplomacy at Geneva Summit
Bahrain reaffirmed its growing commitment to global parliamentary diplomacy yesterday, as a high-level delegation from the Kingdom's legislative chambers joined the opening session of the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva. Held under the theme 'Parliamentary Cooperation and Multilateralism for Peace and Justice for All', the conference is being organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in close cooperation with the United Nations from July 29 to 31. The Bahraini delegation includes Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, who is heading the team, along with MP Abdulnabi Salman Ahmed, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and Dr Bassam Ismail Al-Benhamad, member of the Shura Council's Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence, and National Security. Bahrain's Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva, Ambassador Abdullah Abdulatif Abdullah, was also present at the inaugural session. Global Commitment Speakers at the opening ceremony included Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the UN Office in Geneva, Tulia Ackson, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Courtenay Rattray, Chef de Cabinet to the UN Secretary-General, and IPU Secretary-General Martin Chungong. The delegation's participation underscores Bahrain's firm commitment to engaging constructively with the international community through parliamentary channels, and reflects the maturity of its democratic development. Bahrain's presence at the forum also signals a broader diplomatic message: that parliamentary voices are key players in building peace, justice, and global cooperation. Peace Through Dialogue The upcoming sessions at the Geneva conference are set to address pressing global challenges, including youth and women's participation in parliaments during turbulent times, innovation for peacebuilding, and advancing the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals through new avenues of international cooperation. Other sessions will tackle the role of parliaments in shaping the digital future and defending the rights of people living in vulnerable situations, as part of inclusive action against discrimination. These discussions offer Bahrain's parliamentary bloc a platform to share its perspectives and extend its strategic engagement with legislative institutions worldwide.
